Created attachment 144110

this is the file i rendered after the scrambiling. the quality is extremely
low, and the frames are in total disarray.

i didn't do anything that would warrant this- i was nowhere near these frames
while i was animating. i was at frames 250-380. these frames are at 80-230. i
don't understand what went wrong.

Bug ID: 446311

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
I apologize if this isn't a KWin bug, at the moment, I'm not totally sure if it
belongs to KWin, SDDM, or the kernel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot to desktop with SDDM defaulting to Wayland

OBSERVED RESULT
Plasma loads for 5-10 seconds. Applets load, mouse cursor can move. Any auto
starting windows appear. Then all of Plasma disappears and the screen just
shows a default tty. Logging into the tty and running `sudo systemctl sddm
start` starts SDDM and goes to the login screen, at which point things work
normally. X11 doesn't have this issue at all.

EXPECTED RESULT
Desktop should not disappear/crash

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE with 5.15.5-1-default (64-bit) + Wayland
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Running an AMD 6900 XT, 2x monitors each 1440p, no scaling applied. Journal
message is "The Wayland connection broke. Did the Wayland compositor die?" for
all open apps (from what I can tell). Switching to lightdm solves the issue, so
I'm not sure if it's an SDDM issue, or KWin.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two monitors, each with an Application Launcher applet
2. Press the shortcut key for the Application Launcher applet (Meta or Alt+F1)
3. Type text to begin searching applications and files

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens. Cursor never goes to text entry field. If I check the
application launcher applet on the monitor that it didn't pop up on, that one
has received the text and searched for it, but without opening.

I am actually quite surprised that this behaviour is deemed to be correct. Why
would tab positions change based on which documents are edited and saved, is
not clear to me.
There is just one solution - do not scroll / move tab positions while editing
and saving documents, squeezed tabs won't work, because at the end there might
be too much of them anyway.

Actually I tried konsole with too much tabs, it's not right IMO there too. If
there is a scrollable tab bar and I scroll to the very right and click on 3rd
tab to the left, it changes the tab under! the mouse right away - I mean I just
selected the tab and it already moved away, which is even more confusing.
Anyhow, this is about kate and I really hope the sane (IMO) behaviour will
eventually come to at least kate.

Yes. I'm not an expert of KDE terminology, but I will right click on the panel
and click "enter edit mode", which brings up a white sizing bar, and a bar
above that with buttons to "add widgets", "add spacer", etc. When I mouse over
the panel, the menu briefly appears, and then all 3 items (resize bar, bar with
"add widgets", and the widget edit menu) disappear. This is 100% reproducible.

Yes, I can confirm that KDE Neon seems to use the same version of Poppler,
0.86.1, and I can reproduce the issue with Gustavo's attachment. I've taken the
liberty of filing https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446309 to see about
getting this updated. (Gustavo, once that bug gets taken care of you'll
probably be able to manually install the Neon-packaged libpoppler on your
system, since Neon is also built on 20.04 LTS.)

I'm glad to hear we have a probable cause for this particular case (thanks
Gustavo for producing that test PDF!), but I still think the error message
needs to be updated to make it clear what's going on when this sort of thing
happens. Even if this particular problem is no longer an issue, it's inevitable
that some PDFs will be unreadable and the current error message is not at all
clear about the problem.

2021-11-30 Thread Wolfgang Faust

  Reporter: wolfgangmcq+acct-bugs.kde@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Poppler on KDE Neon is out of date; this has been identified as the probable
cause on a complaint that some PDFs can't be opened:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444297#c10 (which describes it as "an
ancient poppler").

This was split from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444297 where I was
complaining more generally about the unhelpfulness of the resulting error
message; now that we have a shareable test case and an idea of what the problem
is I'm creating this bug to see about getting it fixed. There seems to be
precedent for this, it looks like Poppler was updated on top of the previous
LTS that Neon was built on: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407830

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to open this file: https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=144098 with
the Okular that comes with KDE Neon

OBSERVED RESULT
Error dialog, "Could not open file:///tmp/test-docusign-problem.pdf"

EXPECTED RESULT

OK, that means plasma isn't the thing that's crashing (since there's no crash).
Sounds like it's KWin instead. Hopefully there is a kwin_wayland crash log in
the output of `coredumpctl list` somewhere...

I don't know if it's a race condition in how it handles the
X-KDE-Wayland-Interfaces
line in
org.kde.plasmashell.desktop

because playing with that line, is a way I can seem to replicate it more on
demand, it seems that it could be intermittently ignoring that line.

...Wait a minute, I do have a launcher that also calls my /opt/bin/plasmashell,
I wonder if that .desktop file is causing a conflict.

2021-11-30 Thread Liam Murphy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446308

Bug ID: 446308
Summary: Maximize windows does not fill to the
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.23.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: l...@phmurphy.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 144107
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=144107=edit
Image shows a maximized window that is not filling to the bottom of the
desktop.

SUMMARY
On my secondary monitor, attempting to maximize any window is resulting in a
"gap" between the bottom of the window, and the bottom of the desktop. My guess
is that Kwin (or whatever component this should apply to) believes that a panel
exists, even though it doesn't.

This can be seen in the attached image.

Note: this could be a plasma shell bug as well, wasn't sure the best place to
put it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
UNKNOWN.

OBSERVED RESULT
This started occurring randomly. Does not occur on my primary monitor where a
bottom panel does exist. Have attempted to restart plasmashell and kwin /
restarting my whole PC, no change.

EXPECTED RESULT
A maximize window would fill to the bottom of the screen.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446267

When hovering on any device only mount point is visible but extra information
would be useful like

Mount point (/home/media)
Device (/dev/sda3)
Used Space / Total Space (2.5gb of 10gb)
Filesystem (ext4)
Ownership (Owner: user: group: gr, etc)
Permission (drwxr-xr-x)
Mount options (rw, relatime, uid=1000, gid=1000 ,etc)

By default only top 4 should be visible but when enabled all others should also
be visible. I think dolphin settings can be used or some right click on devices
label to enable these hidden stuff.

SUMMARY
When you change your desktop's accent color at System
Settings->Appearance->Color while having the Files page open in the background,
Elisa doesn't refresh the folder icons on that page to follow the current color
scheme. You have to restart Elisa to see you accent color changes applied
there.

I would expect Elisa to update the color of those folders automagically, the
same way Dolphin does.

Unable to reproduce on 21.08.3 or 22.03.70 Nightly, is "still image clip" just
an image? If I drag an image into my Project Bin and then on the timeline, I'm
able to drag and lengthen or shorten it without problems, also opening and
closing the project doesn't break anything.

dataengines/mpris2: Delete Multiplexer when there is no player

When all players are closed, media player applet on the
desktop still shows a track from the last player, and
player control buttons are still clickable but have no effect.

Add a new signal named `playerListEmptied()`. When the proxy list is empty,
the signal is emitted and `m_multiplexer` is scheduled to be deleted, so
the media player applet on the desktop can indicate the right status of
no player opened.

[digikam] [Bug 446304] New: Not all faces are saved when more than one face is confirmed at the same time in a picture

2021-11-30 Thread MarcP
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446304

Bug ID: 446304
Summary: Not all faces are saved when more than one face is
confirmed at the same time in a picture
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.4.0
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Faces-Maintenance
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I realized that, when two or more faces are confirmed at the same time in a
picture, not all of them are saved (into the metadata and the database).

It's a weird example, but a picture containing dozens of instances of the same
person, when confirming all of them at the same time, only 10-12 of them are
really saved. You can try it with the picture I have attached, the poster to
the movie "Being John Malkovich".

Moreover, if two or more of these suggestions are confirmed, the other detected
faces disappear from the suggestions, and the picture must be scanned again for
faces.

I don't know if the same issue happens if two different persons are confirmed
at the same time (I don't think it's technically possible in Digikam).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Scan for faces. Multiple faces are detected in a picture.
2. Confirm all suggestions at once.
3. Open the picture, and observe how many faces were actually saved.

OBSERVED RESULT
Only some of the pictures were actually saved. The rest of the suggestion
disappeared.

EXPECTED RESULT
All confirmed suggestion must be saved into the image.

Yes. I think you'd need to disable File Search entirely, in which case you are

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Discover
2. Click "Installed" tab
3. List of installed packages can only be show by size and order

OBSERVED RESULT
Working as intended.

EXPECTED RESULT
Not what I expect, what I wish.
Nate told me to create this bug report.
Discover works just fine to install and remove not programs, but does a poor
job in managing those installed programs. Sometimes I want to remove something
use Discover and have to browse thorough extensions and themes, and icon sets
and other minor things, or the contrary. Would be better if there there options
on Dolphin's interface to filter those results, more options. It could group
the results in collapsible categories for example, filter by Flatpak and DEB,
for example.

What does the log say? Presumably it's just an authentication issue, VLC should
be more forthcoming about what the exact issue is.

Is this Samba share password protected? If it is, then KIO FUSE should've been
asked to open this URL.

I suspect this is a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436553

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 446301] New: Disabling content index does not clear existing indexes

2021-11-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply

   Product: frameworks-baloo

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
By default, Baloo (File Search) in Plasma does index file contents. If user
disables it, even after a restart, search will bring content based results.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make sure to have file contents which the baloo indexes
2. Search for it and make sure results bring it (for example in the launcher)
3. Go to "File Search" > disable "Also index file content"

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing will basically happen. Search will still bring that result of step 2.
Rebooting the system also does nothing.
Only way of getting it work is manually purging the index with balooctl

EXPECTED RESULT
Disabling index file content should actually clear the existing indexation

Similar problem with me. Not in virtual machine, but on a normal destkop
environment with Global Scale set to 200%. The cursor position is wrong for all
Qt apps, making them unusable.

Git commit 2797c64eea05df5f802231351a270164fa7c0fd6 by Ismael Asensio.
Committed on 30/11/2021 at 21:18.
Pushed by iasensio into branch 'master'.

kcm/tabbox: Make the preview show desktop if the option is selected

The thumbnail that represents the "desktop" in the switcher preview
is taken from the default wallpaper, and it will update automatically
as it changes in future versions of Plasma.

The current one is also added along the other thumbnails as a fallback.

[gwenview] [Bug 418635] Display of GPS Area Information does not respect EXIF specification

A bug tracker is not a good place for venting and deliberately bashing
developers is destructive, no matter how unhappy we are.

I think this was probably an upstream issue that was fixed upstream unnoticed
while you were waiting. If you still have access to your old system, and you
want to be sure whether the bug was fixed in Gwenview or exiv2, you can verify
this: go back to the old version where you see the Gwenview behaviour in the
original bug report, check the exiv2 version installed there, and read out the
broken 266-byte GPSAreaInformation tag on the command line.

(In reply to linadmin from comment #11)

(In reply to linadmin from comment #13)
> There is the EXIF standards documentation and Gwenview must first of all

As fas as I can see Gwenview uses exiv2 for handling metadata. On my system the
metadata is displayed exactly as exiv2 also shows it. So you might be holding
the developers accountable for something with which they have nothing to do.

According to the exiv2 manpage, the character specification applies to the tags
Exif.Photo.UserComment, Exif.GPSInfo.GPSProcessingMethod and
Exif.GPSInfo.GPSAreaInformation. It does not mention that this applies to tags
from the manufacturer MakerNote such as Exif.Panasonic.City and I wouldn't
expect it to, as they are not part of the standard.

Either way I think we are talking about an upstream issue.

I think it is something caused by SDDM themes installation, as the crash occur
right after the entering password for SDDM theme installation. At least on my
case.
