Currently, we can configure Dolphin to open new tabs "after current tab" or "at end of tab bar". I think there should be a checkbox beneath "after current tab" with something like "only if new tab is child". This is to follow web browsers default behavior, which I believe it's the most intuitive and optimal: if I'm opening a new related tab, like by middle-clicking a child folder, this tab should open next to current (in case of a web browser, this happens if you middle-click a link within the page). But if I'm opening a new independent tab, like by middle-clicking an item from Places or by pressing Ctrl+T, then the new tab should open at the end of tab bar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 454621] Plasmashell doesn't start on all monitors in a multi xscreen environment
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454621 --- Comment #4 from Allistar --- I have identified that this issue is caused by the change between 5.23 and 5.24 in screenpool.cpp ScreenPool::load. I have fixed this with a patch which allows me to blacklist monitors from Plasma by their serial number. Unfortunately QScreen doesn't expose the xscreen that the monitor is on (eg. :0.0 or :0.1) which means that it's not easy to stop shells from running on a monitor for a particular xscreen. The only unique identifier for screens is their serial number. With my patch you can add a section like this to the plasmarc: [IgnoreScreens] 0=G455H97ABNCL- 1=D59H25C8BJ3S- And Plasma shell won't start on those displays. This fixes the bug for me and reverts Plasma workspace back to the previous behaviour. The patch file is attached. I think a proper fix it to limit Plasma (or QT) to one xscreen. Even with "DISPLAY=":0.1" or --display=":0.0" set when running plasmashell it's still picking up monitors from ":0.1". This is a bug, it shouldn't be looking at displays that aren't the DISPLAY variable. Another fix it to change QScreen to expose the xscreen number which would then allow plasmashell to decide which screens it can and can't run on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

In order for a user to invoke the windows switcher menu, the desktop must first be exposed, requiring to un-maximize windows or show desktop in the first place. On the other hand, the window list applet can be accessed anytime on the panel. I've taken the liberty to change the status of this bug to confirmed since: * It's a feature commonly requested by Desktop Grid users; * The plan to merge the effects Desktop Grid and Present windows into the Overview effect has been abandoned, so these two effects are meant to continue to be maintained and developed after having been recently rewritten. On bug id=295775, Nathan Graham writes It turns out the Overview effect won't replace Present Windows and Desktop Grid after all. Instead, Present Windows and Desktop Grid have has been rewritten to use the same modern, maintainable backend technology found in the Overview effect. [ksmserver] [Bug 442380] With systemd boot, session restore does not remember which windows were on which virtual desktop on X11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442380 --- Comment #104 from Brian Kaye --- I ran the command "kwriteconfig5 --file startkderc --group General --key systemdBoot false" which seemed to correct the problem. The file .config/startkderc was changed(or created) . The file "/etc/xdg/startkderc" still shows "systemdBoot=true". Once the distros pick this change up (fedora has not as of this post) we will have to delete .config/startkderc or run the command "kwriteconfig5 --file startkderc --group General --key systemdBoot true" . This should be done before the fixed package is installed to verify that the new package fixes the problem. This is not a new issue, I've had this since late April I'd say. I have not noticed any other kind of issue but who knows. Restoring the old ~/.config/session and ~/.config/ksmserverrc would work for one reboot and on the next it'd be an empty session again, removing write permissions on these would allow future restoring but not saving obviously... I've tried simply deleting these in case they were corrupt but still nothing better. At this point I do believe the issue is on my end, as if not I'm sure it would have been fixed by now but I do not know what else to try... Well I could try a new prefix I guess, maybe I'll do that later today. Thank you for any idea! [plasmashell] [Bug 455252] Applications with malformed .desktop files do not autostart with systemd boot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455252 --- Comment #15 from Henrique Sant'Anna --- The "TerminalOptions=" parameter, which makes ".desktop" files invalid, is added by Plasma. To reproduce: In the startup and shutdown settings click on Properties for any listed application, then enter the Application tab of the properties window, edit the command line and then press the OK button. As a result, the ".desktop" file now has the invalid parameter "TerminalOptions=" which prevents the application from auto-starting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
