https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456936 Bug ID: 456936 Summary: Dragged windows get drawn below others on desktopgrid / overview Product: kwin Version: 5.25.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-various Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: bastimeyer...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 150761 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=150761=edit dragging windows on the desktopgrid and overview effect SUMMARY When dragging/moving a window on the desktopgrid or overview effect, it gets drawn below other windows. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open multiple windows 2. Open desktopgrid or overview effect 3. Drag one of the windows around OBSERVED RESULT The window gets drawn below others, covering/hiding it, which is bad. Dragging a window from a different virtual desktop on the desktopgrid however correctly draws it above others, in full size. EXPECTED RESULT Dragged windows should always be drawn above others SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Arch, latest, with kwin built from the Plasma/5.25 branch, commit 84277885b94485b5a0623629841acb3d5e02590a -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 456847] Changing Autohide setting with shortcut causes issues with maximised window sizes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456847 --- Comment #3 from osh...@eliyahu.co.uk --- I mentioned how the window size does readjust correctly if the mouse is already causing the panel to be shown when the setting is toggled - it also seems to happen if a widget (e.g. Application Launcher) is activated during or after the settings toggle. To clarify: 1. If a widget is activated when the setting is toggled, then maximised windows resize correctly and immediately 2. If a widget is activated while the window is in the incorrect state (after toggling setting, before the window has readjusted to the new size) this seems to trigger recalculation and the window resizes itself into the correct state. Since the correct behaviour is observed either when the panel is shown due to mouse proximity and also when it is shown due to an activated widget, this seems to suggest behaviour is correct whenever the panel is shown. Perhaps it is possible that the regression is due to a change to the way dimensions are calculated for the panel? If the windows do recalculate upon the setting being changed, but the panel reports height=0 due to not yet having reappeared this could cause windows to occupy the whole screen including space which is under the panel when it appears, which is the issue. That would be consistent with the bug not occuring if the panel is already shown, since then when the recalculation occurs, the panel's height is already known and the correct value is used. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 450582] Some change between 5.24.0 and 5.24.1 broke windows shade/shutter feature
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450582 --- Comment #36 from Duncan <1i5t5.dun...@cox.net> --- (In reply to Hans-Peter Jansen from comment #35) > Of course, we also need to take session management into account. Not being one that uses session management (per se, I use startup scripts and window rules to do the configuring I need) much, I hadn't thought of that. Good call, altho I'd suggest an initial implementation wouldn't need it due to the complexity. > The X11 > protocol does provide the shaded flag for this task. > I even hacked a related tool to handle my firefox setup. FF failed to handle > the geometry and shaded state for some time: > > https://github.com/frispete/wm-win-tool What about other gtk3-based apps? Firefox only or anything gtk-based? As for your tool, I was thinking wmctrl as well, and sure enough it's a dep. But I'm a shellscript guy so that's what all my wmctrl/xprop/etc stuff is, not the python you used. Well, that and kwin window rules. There was also the khotkeys GUI app that allowed dynamic/triggered action invocation, back in the day, but last I tried it, even on X, while the configuration GUI still ran and actions could still be configured, I couldn't get them to actually work as configured. I strongly suspect that it had lost a proper maintainer even by the time of the kde4->kde5 port, and while it was "ported" by others in terms of made to build and the GUI run, I'm not sure it ever actually worked properly on kde5, and certainly didn't seem to even on xorg last I tried it. But I can't /imagine/ the kde wayland port being considered complete without /some/ sort of scriptable/invokable custom window management comparable to the static functionality kwin window rules provides on X and wayland, and wmctrl and friends provide dynamically on X, so I guess eventually they'll either fix/port khotkeys, or reimpliment similar functionality from scratch. But I actually don't expect it until after the (currently underway) qt6 port is done. (And qt6 being the first qt to have wayland support from the get-go, I expect its wayland support to be better and more efficient, such that implementing such stuff in it may well be 2/3 the work it'd be on qt5.) Anyway, doing wayland-shading session support without full protocol support is still possible, but I expect it'd be several times the complexity of the "simple" solution I was imagining, so wouldn't be likely for initial support at least. But as long as apps can be forced to run in X mode via xwayland, existing solutions like your scripting solution should remain viable. And pre-setting such vars before app startup or auto-adding commandline options as appropriate, is what wrapper scripts are for! =:^) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 453545] Konsole resets font size after disconnecting from SSH session
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453545 --- Comment #4 from tcanabr...@kde.org --- Konsole resets the profiles after disconnecting from ssh, this is something that was requested a while ago, and that unfortunately it introduced regressions. There’s a new option on the (unreleased) Konsole to not touch the profiles when connecting to / disconnecting from ssh. We can also try to make things better if the current profile settings differs from the selected profile (for instance, text size) and reapply the differences on the profile after a connection / disconnection - this is something I didn’t anticipate. [kwin] [Bug 456886] Dragging image from Web browser over panel and applications makes the screen go black
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456886 --- Comment #4 from guimarcalsi...@gmail.com --- I noticed I can always trigger the bug by dragging the image from a Chromium based browser and moving the mouse fast over the panel, at the very edge of the screen. I also noticed in very rare cases it throws me back at the login screen instead of just making the screen go black. Here's a video of the issue: https://youtu.be/eUAXeAv6qr4 The command shows 4 crashes yesterday: Mon 2022-07-18 16:20:13 -032609 1000 1000 11 present /usr/bin/plasmashell Mon 2022-07-18 18:10:32 -03 16502 1000 1000 11 present /usr/bin/plasmashell Mon 2022-07-18 18:17:37 -03 21060 1000 1000 11 present /usr/bin/plasmashell Mon 2022-07-18 18:22:49 -03 22727 1000 1000 11 present /usr/bin/plasmashell Those are from yesterday. I think they're not related to this. I remember Plasma crashing when I was trying to diagnose the issue and I tried to run plasmashell with another command to pipe the terminal output to a file. I did that a few times, and that's when I think Plasma crashed (that's why I think it's unrelated). When the screen goes black no core dump is ever created. I'll add the crashes from yesterday in the next post, but I don't think they're related to this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Thanks! I still have this open bug report which is similar but panels move to different screens (even disabled screens sometimes): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453554 But the initial title doesn't exactly reflect the behavior under 5.25 because I can now recover the panels from the panel editor. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456321 --- Comment #11 from Nate Graham --- This appears to be a config migration/sync issue. If that's the case, can you get a kwin_wayland backtrace for > the crash? This is odd but that command says "No coredumps found" no matter how many times I make the session crash. Coredumps are enabled on my system as there are coredumps for Plasmashell (unrelated to this bug), so I don't know why there's none for kwin_wayland.
