[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 458085] Wallet system takes about 1 minute to start
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458085 --- Comment #28 from michaelk83 --- (In reply to michaelk83 from comment #27) > A more robust approach is to check if the key/passphrase are already loaded > into gpg-agent, > and if not, display a prompt and pre-load the passphrase before trying to > unlock. This is also not ideal, since it will force manual entry of the passphrase. This would break the workflow for users that prefer to use a smart-card, for example. The fundamental problem is that KWallet relies on an external tool (GPG) for its encryption, instead of a library. If that tool tries to load the passphrase from KWallet, we get this bug. But I found that one should be able to control this for GPG using it's `pinentry` setting - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GnuPG#pinentry . In particular: > `/usr/bin/pinentry-gtk-2` and `/usr/bin/pinentry-gnome3` support the DBus > Secret Service API, > which allows for remembering passwords via a compliant manager such as GNOME > Keyring or KeePassXC. The same problem should occur with the old KWallet API if `pinentry-kwallet` is used. So using a different pinentry program should fix this bug without changing any code, and without the problems of the other solutions I've proposed above. @nic.christin, could you try entering the following line in your `gpg-agent.conf`: > pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt You may need to install the `pinentry-qt` package. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 458245] Kmail 5.21.0 / 22.08.0 does no longer respect per contact html and remote content settings
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458245 Boltronics changed: What|Removed |Added CC||abo...@systemsaviour.com --- Comment #4 from Boltronics --- I too can confirm that these are no longer working after upgrading to the same version on my Arch installation. Additionally, I performed a clean Arch install recently on a different machine, and that also has the issue, so unlikely something to do with the upgrade process. KMail 5.21.0 (22.08.0) Running it from with Kontact makes no difference. If I right-click on an address and select Show HTML Format -> Show HTML format when mail comes from this contact, I am asked to "Select the address book where the contact will be saved", despite already having the contact in the address book. This happens every time, and ends up creating a duplicate entry every time. Clicking away from the e-mail to a different one, and then jumping back, the settings for the e-mail are reset again. It's as if the existing contacts are no longer visible. All of my contacts in ~/.local/share/contacts are configured to have the following settings: X-KADDRESSBOOK-MailAllowToRemoteContent:TRUE X-KADDRESSBOOK-MailPreferedFormatting:HTML All were configured through KAddressBook / Konact, none were hand-edited. Clicking on Edit Contact there does show the same settings as per the above "contact settings" PNG screenshot. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458490 Bug ID: 458490 Summary: Discover deleted the whole ~/.var folder when open a .flatpak file Product: Discover Version: 5.25.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Flatpak Backend Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: dtco...@gmail.com CC: aleix...@kde.org, jgrul...@redhat.com, trav...@redhat.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 151692 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=151692=edit screenshoot I have downloaded a .flatpak file (not .flatpakref file) and opened with Discover, then it prompted message "xx.xx.xx(flatpak app dns name) is not installed but it still has data present" with a button "Delete settings and user data" , if click that button then Discover will delete the ~/.var folder. I was lucky that I had regular backups of my data so I didn't suffer a huge loss. I think the message is told me that there is already a data directory in my ~/.var/app for the opened .flatpak app, but in fact my ~/.var/app didn't have. The whole prompt and button misled me into thinking it was just deleting the data for a specific flatpak app under ~/.var/app, but then I pressed the button and realized it was deleting the entire ~/.var folder. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458489 Halla Rempt changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ha...@valdyas.org Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED --- Comment #1 from Halla Rempt --- Yes, this is an issue with macOSX. Please report to Apple. Given that you do not provide a link to your "previous bug report", I might lack a bit of context, but... The change between full-screen and none-full-screen is not something that's done inside Krita, it's Apple designed. So please take that upi with Apple. You can hide all dockers with a simple shortcut while not hiding the rest of the affordances in Krita anyway, and that's been avaiable since 2006. Assign a shortcut to "show dockers" in Krita's settings. There is no default shortcut, because people who don't understand how computers work would accidentally hit the default shortcut would hit that and then file a useless bug report because they would have lost their panels without knowing what they were doing. And you can, of course, define which parts of Krita are shown and hidden in canvas-only mode in the settings, and that includes the dockers. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 458489] New: View > Show Canvas Only automatically enters fullscreen, causing lag on Mac
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458489 Bug ID: 458489 Summary: View > Show Canvas Only automatically enters fullscreen, causing lag on Mac Product: krita Version: 5.1.0 Platform: macOS (DMG) OS: macOS Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: treefrog...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Entering and exiting fullscreen on Mac systems is a heavy, laggy operation. My previous bug report addressed a flaw in the implementation of the current design, but I believe the design itself is flawed. Toggling fullscreen mode and toggling the palettes are separate concerns, and I believe they should be treated as such in this case. The use case of hiding all palettes while keeping the window as a window is a real thing. Currently the only way to arrive at such a combination of modes (fullscreen off, canvas-only on) is to enter canvas-only, and then exit fullscreen, which is just exploiting a glitch in the implementation. I propose totally decoupling the two modes. Simple, independent toggles for each. No automatic magic. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

On further thought, this can still cause problems if two or more apps try to unlock the wallet at the same time. The 1st one would short-circuit `OpenSession` while unlocking the wallet, and then the 2nd may get the short-circuit response instead of the normal response. A more robust approach is to check if the key/passphrase are already loaded into gpg-agent, and if not, display a prompt and pre-load the passphrase before trying to unlock. [frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 458085] Wallet system takes about 1 minute to start

I don't get any prompt and the > secrets > can be read correctly. Thanks! This confirms that the problem step is when gpg-agent tries to load the key/passphrase for the first time. Once it's loaded and cached in gpg-agent, further use bypasses Secret Service and works as expected. > > could you run `dbus-monitor "destination=org.freedesktop.secrets" > > "sender=org.freedesktop.secrets"` before launching the app that tries to > > access KWallet, and until the passphrase prompt shows up? > > ... > if I run dbus-monitor on a console before I log into KDE, I get the > following output before the prompt for the wallet password appears: > > ... > method call time=1661782321.269761 sender=:1.378 -> destination=:1.371 > serial=7 path=/org/freedesktop/secrets; > interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties; member=GetAll >string "org.freedesktop.Secret.Service" > method call time=1661782346.297437 sender=:1.378 -> destination=:1.371 > serial=8 path=/org/freedesktop/secrets; > interface=org.freedesktop.Secret.Service; member=OpenSession >string "dh-ietf1024-sha256-aes128-cbc-pkcs7" >variant array of bytes [ > > ] > Presumably, this is gpg-agent trying to open a session with Secret Service, to retrieve the key passphrase. If this is the only output, then it seems kwalletd is stuck on the `OpenSession` call until it eventually times out. Then gpg-agent gives up and shows the prompt. So short-circuiting `OpenSession` while waiting on GPG should fix this, IMO. It should return something like `InvalidMethodCall`, or simply `NotSupported`. Also, the GPG unlock call needs to be asynchronous, so it won't block the Secret Service API handler. The two lines of interest are: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/blob/master/src/runtime/kwalletd/kwalletfreedesktopservice.cpp#L261 and https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kwallet/-/blob/master/src/runtime/kwalletd/backend/backendpersisthandler.cpp#L625 (or one of its callers, see the backtrace in comment 15). I don't have an environment set up to make a patch, but hopefully @Nicolas Fella or someone else can pick this up from here. Btw, there's another small bug in `kwalletfreedesktopservice.cpp` line 264 - according to the specs, it should return `org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported`, instead of `InvalidArgs`: https://specifications.freedesktop.org/secret-service/latest/ch07.html#idm46274163163312 > If a service does not support a specific set of algorithms, a > org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported > error is returned, and the client is free to try another set of algorithms. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I was dealing with the same annoying issue and this seemed to fix it: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Tips_and_tricks#Preserve_video_memory_after_suspend . Not only that, it fixed other instabilities I was experiencing as well, like the X11 server completely crashing in rare cases, when the sound volume popup was shown. The driver discards the contents of the VRAM when suspending by default and tries to recostruct the previous state on wake up somehow(?). This fix instructs the driver to save the original contents and restore them on wake up. Here's a one liner fix: echo "options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1 NVreg_TemporaryFilePath=/var/tmp" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-vram-fix.conf While this fixes the issue, I'm still not entirely sure, if this is 100% Nvidia's fault, as Gnome can handle the driver's default behavior. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

SUMMARY After the upgrade to version 22.08.0 via pacman the QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME environment variable override which I set to `gnome` seems to no longer be respected. The `gnome` theme is supposed to integrate QT applications visually into the Gnome desktop and should in this case result in a dark Adwaita-like theming. It is part of the package qgnomeplatform-qt5. However, the theme is a mashup of light background with dark buttons (see attachment). I use the GNOME DE version 42.4 with Wayland. Okular runs in XWayland as QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland is NOT set. This bug is only present in Okular, no other QT application (e.g. owncloud-client, qt5ct) work fine. [plasmashell] [Bug 353975] Black screen on second display (no wallpaper, can't get a context menu on right-click)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353975 --- Comment #236 from Trent M --- Gene C is right; be careful that your window titles aren't showing any sensitive information when you share your results. It is my bad for not cautioning against that as well. I apologize. Lukas, your test case proves that my hypothesis is correct in some situations. It does not appear to be the case for all situations, but at least I was not completely off base. See here, when you are first experiencing the error: > 0x02400017 -1 1280 01920 1080 lukas-laptop Arbeitsfläche — Plasma > 0x0240001d -1 1920 01280 1024 lukas-laptop Arbeitsfläche — Plasma These are the desktop windows. The third through seventh columns represent x position, y position, width, and height, in that order. Now see the same windows when you are not having the problem: > 0x02400017 -1 1280 01920 1080 lukas-laptop Arbeitsfläche — Plasma > 0x0240001d -1 001280 1024 lukas-laptop Arbeitsfläche — Plasma One of your monitors' desktop windows stays in the right place, the one at 1280,0. That's your right-side monitor. However, the desktop window that should be covering your left monitor wanders off to 1920,0 in the case where you are experiencing the black-screen bug, leaving the completely useless root window exposed beneath it. And interestingly, it causes the two windows to overlap *partially*, not completely. Lukas, on your right monitor, do you sometimes see the wallpapers partially overlapped when this problem is occurring? The fact that your monitors have different sizes exposes a pretty interesting facet of this problem. During the case where the black screen monitor bug is occurring, the desktop windows don't seem to know which of them is the right-side monitor. The fact that the window for your 1280x1024 monitor goes to 1920,0 suggests that it thinks it's supposed to be on the right side for some period of time, and it just never gets corrected. Because your monitors are different sizes, you could actually fix this with devilspie2 or a KWin script: you would check the sizes of the windows of class plasmashell and type desktop. Whichever one is 1280x1024, you move it to 0,0. Whichever one is 1920x1080, you move it to 1280,0. You would not be able to use KWin's window rules to fix this though, because it doesn't let you match windows on their sizes. For folks with monitors that are the same size though, they're out of luck for a workaround; the windows seem to be identical otherwise. They don't expose any differentiating information via xprop, presumably because the windows are supposed to simply do the right thing by themselves, and they're unfortunately not at the moment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 458475] New: Performance highly degraded with filters
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458475 Bug ID: 458475 Summary: Performance highly degraded with filters Product: krita Version: 5.1.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Layer Stack Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: grum...@grum.fr Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY For a simple combination of filters, Krita took 10minutes to refresh document STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a document large enough (7000x5000) 2. Add a group layer "G1" 3. In group layer "G1", add a paint layer "PL1"; fill it with a color 4. On paint layer "PL1", add a transform mask ("mesh transform") "TM1" 5. In group layer "G1", add a filter layer "FL1" (type gaussian blur with default value of 5pixels) 6. Select paint layer "PL1" 7. Fill it with another color OBSERVED RESULT >From step 7, it took ~10minutes of "updating" process on my computer...
