[plasmashell] [Bug 459930] New: Panel highlight draws over icons/items
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459930 Bug ID: 459930 Summary: Panel highlight draws over icons/items Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.25.90 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Panel Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: doncb...@gmail.com CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY The highlight asset used to indicate focus for things like the Application Menu or clock is drawn on top of the icon. For the Breeze theme, which is only an opaque line at the top, this has a negligible effect. In the case of a full-frame opaque highlight, this would mean that the icon is no longer visible. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install and apply a theme with a full-frame highlight asset (I used Willow Light) 2. Click the Kickoff icon in the panel to open it (clock and show desktop are also options) 3. OBSERVED RESULT The highlight asset is drawn over the icon. Since it is white, the icon slightly fades out. EXPECTED RESULT Like the task manager, the highlight should be drawn underneath. Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 5.15.0-48-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION It would be nice to have this functionality through theme control. A glassy overlay for the Application Menu icon when clicked would look rather nice. Same for the task manager. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459928 Bug ID: 459928 Summary: Tags/keywords are not written back to MP4 video files, even with exiftool being configured Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 7.9.0 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Tags-Engine Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: khaluk...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I'm trying to make Digikam to read/write tags to/from my *.mp4 video files: - I do have a latest version of Digikam built from git (7.9.0), also tested the same with prev version (7.8.0) - I have configured it with the latest exiftool 12.16 - I do see, this pairing works and tags information is being picked up from my *.mp4 files. If I use "Metadata" pane on the right hand side and "Exiftool" tab in there, I do see my tags, which I set manually with exiftool. - I also configured Digikam to write tags back to files ("Settings" -> "Configure DigiKam" -> "Metadata" -> "Behavior" -> "Write this information to the Metadata" -> all boxes checked) Tagging works perfectly for all my photo files. Whenever I assign some tag for one or bunch of photos, I can see Digikam immediately processes those files. And if I crosscheck them later with exiftool I can see my freshly set tags in there. But this doesn't work for video files. Like if I assign tag on some of my mp4 files, nothing is get written back to file. Digikam shows all these updates to tags being made, below video thumbnails, but my guess it just writes them to its own sqlite database and gets them from it. And from the way how UI behaves when I set tags on videos, I don't see Digikam triggers the same batch queue processess to update files, as it does when I assign tags for bunch of photos. I even tried to run "Album" -> "Write metadata to files", but my *.mp4 files didn't get any tags as well. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Get Digikam v7.9.0 or v7.8.0 configured with exiftool 2. Configure Digikam to write metadata back to files 3. Assign a tag to one of your mp4 files 4. Use exiftool to see what tags the file got OBSERVED RESULT No tags being written to actual file EXPECTED RESULT Tags should have been written to mp4 file -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When Nouveau driver for NVIDIA graphics card was used, there were no problems with video playback for some time (at least one week everything worked ok), but then VLC black screen happened - no video, but audio only. I didn't figure out cause of this. Made another fresh Kubuntu 22.10 install, NVIDIA 515 driver install and got black screen instead video immediately (no video - only audio sound), but Kaffeine plays videos without problems – both audio and video tracks. I figured out that problem is mainly with Xvid MPEG-4 Video (XVID), H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) and DivX MPEG-4 Video (DX50) videos. VLC - default settings. Tried to change acceleration, etc, but no positive result. Partial solution: When I uncheck Embedded video in VLC Video settings, I get two VLC windows – first is VLC itself and second is video, which is played normally. It spoils usability but at least I can watch videos in VLC now. What kind of issues is this? KDE or VLC?
