[digikam] [Bug 459819] DigiKam Crashes after downloading several files

2022-10-04 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459819

--- Comment #6 from Maik Qualmann  ---
At the start we do a test to see whether the basic functions of the DB work. If
no tables can be created in SQLite, the write permissions are missing. Possibly
digiKam does not have the right to write in the directory. Since it is a Beta
version of macOS, there may well have been further tightening for programs that
do not come from theapp store.

I have same problem.

Kubuntu 22.04.1.
Logitech 3 button bluetooth mouse.
KDE Plasma 5.24.6
KDE Frameworks 5.92.0
Qt 5.15.3
Linux Kernel 5.15.0-48
Graphics X11

Unchecking "Invert Scroll Direction", clicking Apply, Re-checking "Invert
Scroll Direction" fixes it temporarily.
Its worse than it was with the older Kubuntu 20.04. Every day this happens.

SUMMARY
As of probaby 5.1.1 (but i can not confirm if this exists beforehand),
rendering an anmation from the middle causes the frames to be named from
always causing the later encoder to make such animation to be confused on what
to do
(example for claification: render from frame 240 to 480 will have the frames
generated with the first frame named frame
and the last named frame , as the encoder
comes through to "stitch" the frames together it can not found the frames that
should have been named 0240 to 0480 and errors

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Draw  the frames.
2. select render animation
3. set starting frame to any frame expect for frame 0
4. hit ok

OBSERVED RESULT
Program running into a error after generating frames

EXPECTED RESULT
Animation to be completed and encoded

Application: latte-dock (0.10.77)

Operating System: Linux 5.13.0-valve21.1-1-neptune-02211-gc54cda5a36f3 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: "Arch Linux"
DrKonqi: 5.25.5 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
After connecting a external display (and automatically disabling the built-in
one) latte keeps the panels and docks that were active in the built-in display,
even if they were configured to appear only on that screen, alongside the ones
from the just connected external display.

In wayland the session will crash on one of the next interactions (may or may
not be related to latte).

On X11, latte has crashed once when invoking the menu on a panel.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Everytime I open DigiKam I get the can't create table message.

My SqlLite DB is locally hosted. My files are hosted on a Raspberry Pi 4 with
OpenMediaVault as SO. Files are perfect. Is just the DB what seems to be a
problem. Is it possible to check just the DB health?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459238

--- Comment #10 from chazzy  ---
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #8)
> Yep.

It's been a while, and I think this should be revisited. I mean, looking at the
context, how could this not be a plasma issue? the wine version didn't change,
the application didn't update, it works on the xfce4 desktop environment, and
the bug only occurred after updating a select number of plasma packages. It was
working in past versions of plasma on the same environment. It seems to me that
you dismissed this since it was present in gnome, but that could just simply
mean that gnome has the same bug. Could you please shine some light onto why
you don't think it's a bug within plasma? I'm not an expert, but given the
context, I feel like I can only blame plasma for this.

Bug ID: 459989
   Summary: Can't change values in Unreal Engine 5 by keyboard
typing .
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.25.5

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR

SUMMARY
When i am trying to change values in Unreal Engine 5 by keyboard typing -
nothing happens . "Field of View" , "Far View plane" or "Screen Percentage" can
be changed only by mouse (This method is not very convenient) . Also, when i'm
trying to edit material or blueprint and pressing RMB inside material editor or
blueprint editor - same happens (I cant type anything) . This issue is
exclusive to Kde wayland (on kde x11 everything works) .

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download UE5 binaries from official site and extract them .
2. Open UnrealEditor located in "Engine Folder"/Engine/Binaries/Linux/ and
create any project
3. Click on drop-dwon meny icon located in left top corner (Before
"Perspective" button)
4.Click on "Field of View" , "Far View plane" or "Screen Percentage" Value
boxes and try to change them by keyboard typing (digits) .

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens

Since a recent upgrade to Qt 5.15.6, any attempt to start skrooge results in a
fatal crash and the following message:

##FATAL: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.5) with this library (5.15.6)
KCrash: Application 'skrooge' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/libexec/drkonqi

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. sudo dnf install skrooge
2. skrooge

OBSERVED RESULT
The crash described above.

EXPECTED RESULT
Skrooge starting up.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 36, KDE Plasma 5.25.5
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I also rebuilt and installed Skrooge (as version 2.28) from source, because I
thought building it against the Qt5 version available in the system would help.
But it resulted in the same error.

I have been using Skrooge for more than ten years regularly, and in many
versions of Fedora, KDE and Qt. This is the first time I get a problem like
this.

2022-10-04 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459969

--- Comment #5 from Maik Qualmann  ---
Yes, face recognition is certainly not perfect yet. We have various bug reports
on this. A student worked on improvements last year as part of GSoC-2021, these
have not yet been integrated because it requires major other changes in the
face engine. It is important that you confirm several people and the face
engine "learns" from it.

[kwin] [Bug 459986] Launch feedback doesn't stop properly when launching terminal apps

2022-10-04 Thread Nicolas Fella
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459986

--- Comment #1 from Nicolas Fella  ---
In terms of solutions we could

1. Patch htop et al to have StartupNotify=false
2. Force StartupNotify=false for all terminal apps in
KIO::ApplicationLauncherJob
3. Force StartupNotify=false for all terminal apps in KWin

Not great solutions since we would lose the bouncing cursor completely

4. Special-case inside kwin that when we know a terminal app is launched we
"wait" for Konsole/the default terminal app instead

In comparison to other popular cursor themes (including Adwaita), the default
breeze cursor has poorer contrast on light backgrounds since it is not as
black/dark as those other themes. I think it would also look more consistent
with the rest of the breeze theme (e.g. monochrome icon color, font color,
etc.) if the cursor were the same black.

[kwin] [Bug 459986] New: Launch feedback doesn't stop properly when launching terminal apps

2022-10-04 Thread Nicolas Fella
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459986

Bug ID: 459986
   Summary: Launch feedback doesn't stop properly when launching
terminal apps
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install htop
2. Lauch htop from Kickoff

OBSERVED RESULT
A Konsole window with htop appears, but the bouncing cursor keeps bouncing for
a while until it eventually times out

EXPECTED RESULT
The bouncing cursor stops as soon as the terminal window is there

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: master (5.25.90)
KDE Frameworks Version: master
Qt Version: 5.15.6-kde

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The problem is generic to all apps with Terminal=true

We launch a particular desktop file e.g. htop.desktop, and then wait for a
window matching that desktop file to appear, but instead a window with
org.kde.konsole for its app_id appears, so we never terminate the startup
feedback until some timeout

SUMMARY
Using the frequently played view on Elisa is showing some recently played

Also its not clear, where the "play count" is actually saved?

OBSERVED RESULT

EXPECTED RESULT
View tracks of my library which have 0 plays show up when filtering for least
frequently played first and not only tracks with play count = 1.
Also it show playback history from "forever", maybe there is a reason this
"history" gets deleted, so transparency about how play count is actually used
and where it is saved would be helpful.

I have Python 3.8.10 installed and have the same issue (with LabPlot v 2.9.0 on
Windows). What *exact* version of Python is needed for this version of LabPlot?
There isn't any indication in the program itself that I can find that says this
(seems like having this specified in the components tab of the "About LabPlot"
dialog would be a good idea). LabPlot also doesn't seem to be able to detect
that it's the wrong version of Python (or isn't providing any sort of warning
to the user). It would be nice if LabPlot could give a warning to tell the user
what they need to do to get the feature working until a more flexible solution
can be found.

I did run upgrades yesterday before experiencing this issue, not sure which
version I upgraded _from_ though. Current installed version is
5.15.5+p20.04+tunstable+git20220909.1409-0.

Using apt to try to downgrade to version
5.15.5+p20.04+tunstable+git20220809.0847-0 gives a resolution that attempts to
remove most depending KDE software and some system-critical packages (including
neon-desktop), so I'm holding fire on doing that for now.

--- Comment #4 from Nate Graham  ---
Talked with David E; we can do this ourselves by setting the app up to
autostart with appropriate X-KDE-autostart-conditions in its desktop file.

This will probably entail reverting
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-welcome/-/commit/b1c575ce2338dde54e8a55b36904917598773e05
plus adding a few other bits.

[kiofuse] [Bug 459980] New: kio-fuse sometimes stops operating for single client

2022-10-04 Thread Jan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459980

Bug ID: 459980
   Summary: kio-fuse sometimes stops operating for single client
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: kiofuse
   Version: 5.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: a.saout...@gmail.com
  Reporter: medhe...@web.de
CC: fab...@ritter-vogt.de, kio-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 152586
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=152586=edit
backtrace of kio-fuse master @v5.0.1-16-gfbd09a3

While giving https://invent.kde.org/system/kio-fuse/-/merge_requests/36 some
test usage I've found that sometimes, video playback stops. mpv can still seek
into previously cached positions, but does not seem to receive any more data
from kio-fuse. Note that new clients can be started and will happily get
content (until they too presumably freeze up).

This also happens in master (without the above branch applied). I have saved a
coredump of kio-fuse for possible further analysis while it was frozen on
playback for mpv and the backtrace is attached to the report.

[kwin] [Bug 444335] Sticky keys does not work under Wayland

--- Comment #6 from Nicolas Fella  ---
See https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2016-March/027419.html
for some discussion how sticky keys and related things could be implemented on
Wayland

TL;DR it's something that the compositor/kwin needs to do in its input
processing, possibly with help from xkbcommon, but as far as I can tell no
relevant work on xkbcommon was done

I am hitting this bug. Seems like it happens mostly in windows that are playing
videos / media content (radio, videconference, youtube, etc).

Had it both in Firefox and Brave but it is definitely not linked to the as some
FF windows work fine while other don't. Also when you click on the window title
bar the content refreshes. Restarting compositor solves the problem.

kded: properly delete factory to fix file descriptor leak

Not unloading the plugin loader will cause file descriptor leaks in
kded, and when fd limit is reached, accent color can't be updated
anymore because updating accent color requires writing to kdeglobals.
This fixes the leak and also fixes the accent color bug.

In just under 9 hours of uptime, I have had roughly quarter million pointless
log entries. My desktop background does not change this fast.

```
# journalctl | grep 'No metadata file in the package'|wc -l ; uptime
Hint: You are currently not seeing messages from other users and the system.
  Users in groups 'adm', 'systemd-journal' can see all messages.
I'm on an LTS (Ubutnu 22.04, plasma-workspace package 4:5.24.6-0ubuntu0.1); is
there no way this can be back ported ?
SUMMARY
Currently when receiving a call on mobile the only option on desktop is to
pause the currently playing media and show a notification. I'd be nice to be
able to answer the call directly from desktop (without need to switch the
headset to another device) and forward the audio to the mobile.
[okular] [Bug 459978] New: Add option to restore all tabs from closed window
2022-10-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
Bug ID: 459978
   Summary: Add option to restore all tabs from closed window
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: mcmuf...@mailbox.org
  Target Milestone: ---
I'd like to be able to close Okular, shut my computer down, boot up again, open
Okular, and be prompted to open all of the tabs that I closed when I closed the
window before shutdown. I realize that there is already a recent documents
functionality, but it is not nearly as convenient as a window restore
functionality.
I'd like to implement this myself, but it will likely take me some time to
learn whatever this is written in well enough to do so. I'm also not sure how
to assign this to myself. If anyone could give me pointers on either of these
two things, it would be much appreciated!
[digikam] [Bug 459969] Unconfirmed Faces are not grouped correctly when re-running recognition
2022-10-04 Thread Jens
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459969
--- Comment #3 from Jens  ---
Actually I just found out this is how the "Recognize faces" option is supposed
to work... going through the "Unknown" faces and applying the currently learned
known faces against those not yet tagged. Right?
But it doesn't. If I choose "Recognize faces" here, it'll put *some* faces into
"Unconfirmed" but the majority will stay in "Unknown" - even very similar faces
of known and tagged people. There's still something going wrong here.
