The UI you are using is apparently meant to be transitory. Permanent settings
can be adjusted in Configure KDevelop => Editor => Appearance => Borders.

This is a KTextEditor feature in any case. The same UI is present in Kate. If
you still believe the state of the checkboxes should be preserved after
restarting, move this bug to the frameworks-ktexteditor Product.

Not explicitly, but I'm building the latest 5.27 branch and also checked my
local copy and that MR is already in. Full system reboot, but still only works
if panel is at the bottom.

[kde] [Bug 465305] New: character counts are wrong when text includes emojis; each counted as two (2)

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465305

Bug ID: 465305
   Summary: character counts are wrong when text includes emojis;
each counted as two (2)
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@toeai.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Product/Component unknown; sorry. Observed in kate and konsole, so probably
affects something they both depend on.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (kate)
1. In kate, enter an emoji, e.g. 
2. Move cursor back and forth from before to after cursor.
3. Look at line:column indicator at bottom.

OBSERVED RESULT (kate)
Column jumps by two for a single character.

EXPECTED RESULT (kate)
Column should increase by only one per character.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (konsole)
1. In kate, copy and paste the emoji until you have OVER 4000 (e.g. 4001).
(Remember that the column number will say 8003 at the end of a line with 4001
emojis.)
2. Select them all and copy to clipboard.
3. In konsole, run 'python3'. Then type:
len("""
4. Press Ctrl+Shift+V (or go to Edit, Paste; or right-click and select Paste).

OBSERVED RESULT (konsole)
It will ask you if you want to paste X number of characters (e.g. 8002) instead
of the correct number (e.g. 4001).
Answer 'yes'. Then complete the python expression with:
""")
and hit enter.
The correct number of characters (e.g. 4001) is displayed.

EXPECTED RESULT (konsole)
It should count the characters correctly, not double-count them.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For casual users, the number of characters may not really matter, but for
people like me who do programming or work on data projects, I need to know
correct character counts, and not be wondering where did X number of characters
go or where did X number of characters magically come from. If it's a single
Unicode code point (e.g. U+1F60A) then it needs to be treated as just one
character, regardless of how many bytes it might require to encode in a
particular encoding. The whole point of working with text instead of bytes is
that you can work with characters, not worrying about how things are encoded
under the hood.

No, sorry.

There's something goofy with the KDE neon DVD. It takes literally 30+ minutes
to boot and makes my DVD drive sound like it's going to break. I'm not doing
this a third time.

[frameworks-syntax-highlighting] [Bug 465304] New: syntax highlighting for QML is broken when file starts with shebang

2023-02-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465304

Bug ID: 465304
Summary: syntax highlighting for QML is broken when file starts
with shebang
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-syntax-highlighting
   Version: 5.98.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: syntax
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@toeai.com
CC: walter.von.entfer...@posteo.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Syntax highlighting for QML files is broken when the file includes shebang
line.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kate.
2. Make and save a QML file, e.g. "hello.qml":
import QtQuick 2
Rectangle {
width: 200
height: 100
Text {
text: "Hello, World!"
}
}

3. Add a shebang line at the beginning of the file, e.g.
#!/usr/bin/env qml

OBSERVED RESULT
When you add the shebang, everything but the first two characters (or until a
/* multi-line comment */) turns orange (or green, in eariler versions.)

EXPECTED RESULT
Shebang should not break highlighting.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Kubuntu 22.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6
Kate 22.08.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A commit related to Bug 325805 apparently fixed this for JavaScript in 2014.
That commit also involved a minor change to qml.xml, however I don't think it
ever worked in QML. Copying the lines related to shebang from javascript.xml
into qml.xml seems to make it correctly recognize the shebang line, except that
it doesn't color it like a comment, and I don't know enough about this syntax
highlighting system to know how to fix that.

Some more details about how this broke my volume controls because I realized it
might not be obvious:

With these high resolution scrolling changes one or two ratchet clicks of wheel
rotation started going from 0% straight to 100% of volume. Previously with
low-res scrolling this took 20 ratchet clicks. It also introduced constant
scroll twitching that was suppressed before by low resolution scrolling.

Upon further testing, I've discovered that this bug only occurs when the panel
is placed at the top of the screen.

If I move my panel to the bottom, then the context menu appears no problem, but
if I move it to the top, it does not show up. Currently it is unclear to me
whether it doesn't show up at all, or is simply drawn out of bounds however.

[plasmashell] [Bug 465302] New: 5.27: Ending a Pipewire recording / screen sharing does not actually end it

2023-02-04 Thread Naxdy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465302

Bug ID: 465302
Summary: 5.27: Ending a Pipewire recording / screen sharing
does not actually end it
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.26.90
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: xna...@hydra-development.net
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 155949
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=155949=edit
Showcase of the bug (recording continues despite "ended")

SUMMARY
When sharing a screen / window using Pipewire, an indicator appears in the
system tray which is supposed to be able to be used for ending the recording /
sharing at any time. However, it doesn't work at all currently.

I've attached a simple video which, as you can see, continues to record even
after the recording has been "ended". The behavior is the same regardless of
application (also tested using Firefox screen share).

It does not matter whether the recording is "ended" using right click -> end,
or left click -> end (in the popup).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Begin any screen / window sharing.
2. "End" the sharing using the system tray indicator.

OBSERVED RESULT
The indicator disappears, but the recording / sharing continues uninterrupted.

EXPECTED RESULT
The indicator disappears and the recording / sharing stops (forcefully, i.e.
via freezing, if need be).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo / 5.27 beta
(available in About System)

This is going to end up being either an issue in KWin, or in the AMD graphics
drivers. But almost certainly not in the Digital Clock code itself. Moving to
KWin to start with.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465301

Bug ID: 465301
Summary: 5.27: Microphone indicator and popup display
conflicting information upon toggle
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Microphone Indicator
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org

Showcase of the bug

SUMMARY
When toggling the microphone indicator in the system tray, the microphone is
muted and unmuted correctly. However, the popup that shows up displays the
opposite of what is happening: It shows the volume upon muting, and "muted"
upon unmuting.

NOTE: Previously (last I tested was during 5.26 cycle) this was only a problem
on X11, but now it is a problem on both X11 and Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any audio input stream to prompt the microphone indicator to appear
2. Toggle the microphone indicator

OBSERVED RESULT
Popup displays incorrect information

EXPECTED RESULT
Popup displays correct information

I notice we haven't gotten any more duplicate reports, which is what I would
expect to happen for an issue this visibly noticeable for the people who are
able to reproduce it.

For those people... has it stopped happening? Or re you still experiencing it?

2023-02-04 Thread Naxdy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465227

Rockstar Games Launcher, Ubisoft Connect, and IINACT all exhibit this problem
for me.

IINACT should be the easiest to test since it's just a portable application
that sits in the tray: https://github.com/marzent/IINACT/releases

The context menu should appear on right click and offer "Settings" and "Quit"
as entries.

They all work fine and are interactable under X11. Wine version didn't seem to
make a difference (tried system Wine 7.19 and 8.1, as well as lutris GE Proton)

Also affects the X11 session on Neon.

This smooth scrolling change broke the following things for me:
- Scrolling over the volume slider in Elisa.
- Scrolling over the volume applet on the system tray.
- Scrolling over comboboxes started skipping over several items.

I had to add the following libinput local override to make scrolling usable
again:

SUMMARY
5.26.90 (5.27 beta) has added libinput 1.19 smooth/high-resolution scrolling to
the Plasma Wayland session.

This is a welcome addition, however it cannot be configured, and it is an
issue:
1: Users may dislike this feature.
2: in games (e.g. Minecraft, scrolling through items in the hotbar becomes
unreliable due to scroll interpolation or Counter Strike: Global Offensive,
where the same applies to the weapon selector)

There should be an option to easily disable this feature within kcm_mouse.
libinput allows for configuring this feature, so it should be possible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a Plasma Wayland session.
2. Open System Settings
3. Navigate to Input Devices > Mouse
4. Observe options
5. Navigate to Workspace Behavior > General Behavior
6. Observe options

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no option to disable smooth/high resolution scrolling, per mouse or
system-wide.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should ideally be an option to disable smooth/high resolution scrolling,
both per mouse and system-wide.

[digikam] [Bug 465286] Add ART ( another raw therapee) to list to Raw Import tools

2023-02-04 Thread Michel Cambron
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465286

Hi Maik,
Thank-you for your fast response. I tried to see if Digikam would find ART
after I removed Raw Therapee from my computer but Digikam could not find ART
as a substitute to Raw Therapee. Any suggestions?
Regards,
Michel

--- Comment #1 from Maik Qualmann --- A short test
here under Linux shows that ART also supports the Gimp plugin.
Since it is a clone of RawTherapee and supports the same plugin
architecture, I would rather not support it as a standalone plugin. My idea
would be if RawTherapee is not found, let's try to start ART.

[krunner] [Bug 465296] New: Integrated translator in Krunner

2023-02-04 Thread Tryz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465296

Bug ID: 465296
   Summary: Integrated translator in Krunner
Classification: Plasma
   Product: krunner
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: tryz.hx...@simplelogin.com

SUMMARY
***
It would be great to have a plugin for Krunner that is able to translate small
lines of text or words directly from the Plasma Shell. I know there's a plugin
created by the community that fulfills this function but doesn't directly serve
me and when installing it my System Settings window closes automatically

I think the problem can be closed, for some reason I stop having this problem
completely under the same conditions and system as when I did the report.

I'm affected by the same issue in Kate. Only the hamburger toolbar seems to be
affected, the other one doesn't reappear.
This is most likely related to using the app with the menu bar disabled (and
thus the hamburger toolbar wanting to be shown).

[kate] [Bug 465295] New: The KWrite text area can be resized inside its window

2023-02-04 Thread Louis Moureaux

Bug ID: 465295
Summary: The KWrite text area can be resized inside its window
Classification: Applications

   Version: 22.12.2
  Platform: Neon

Screenshot of a resized KWrite text area

SUMMARY

In KWrite, one can grab invisible handles next to the window edges to resize
the text area. I suspect this is inherited from Kate's panel resizing feature,
just without the panels.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KWrite
2. Grab an invisible (with Breeze) handle close to a window edge or the border
between the toolbar and the text area. For this, act as if you wanted to resize
the window but grab the edge a little bit to the inside (the active area is
large enough that this isn't very hard)
3. Move the handle to the inside of the window

OBSERVED RESULT

The text area gets resized, with empty content on the sides. See screenshot

EXPECTED RESULT

The invisible handles are disabled in KWrite mode/when there isn't any plugin.

After some further investigation I have reduced the number of not recognised
albums to 1. Although things are still far from right as shown in the 2
attachments as the albums are split between 2 artists despite them being the
same artist. For some albums to be recognised a .jpg file needs to be added to
the folder although this is not universally necessary as sometimes Elisa
supplies it own artwork from somewhere.
