[kwin] [Bug 467388] Non-full-screen windows force resize when mouse is at edge
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467388 --- Comment #2 from deadmeu --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > 1. When you say "full-screen" do you mean actually full screen, or > mazimized? They're separate states. Sorry, I mean maximised. I've just tested proper full-screen (by pressing F11) and maximised in Firefox and VSCode and found that in Firefox, full-screen and maximised have the same good expected behaviour, but in VSCode going full-screen causes the scrollbar edge to have the issue. When Maximised, VSCode exhibits the good expected behaviour I described earlier. > 2. Does the issue go away if you force the affected XWayland-using apps into > their native Wayland modes? You can do this for Firefox by adding > MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to /etc/environment, rebooting, and then starting > Firefox I have already enabled Wayland in Firefox (confirmed by checking in about:support that Window Protocol = wayland). VSCode's behaviour seems to be identical regardless of whether it's running under XWayland or Wayland natively. > 3. Are you using any screen scale factors on your system that aren't either > 100% or 200%? If so, does the issue go away for XWayland-using apps when you > do change the scale factor to 100% or 200%? No, I use 100% scale. > All of these questions are to help me understand if the issue is Bug 459373, > or something else. I don't think this is the same as Bug 459373 and I really don't think this was an issue prior to me doing a system update a couple of days ago. It might be worth noting that I have installed Firefox as a Flatpak, but VSCode was obtained from the Arch repo. Both of these were recently updated alongside me picking up the Plasma 5.27.3 update but I don't think they would be responsible for this issue as it appears in multiple programs using custom decorations. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Hi, It's the Icons-Only Task Manager. About the empty space, I don't think there should be any in the first place, it's preventing the spacers from centering the Task Manager. Otherwise, the button looks misleading - it has an app install icon, but it's not offering any app there, just passing a search term to discover for something that might not even exist. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Go to https://apps.kde.org/ksysguard/ 2. Click the big button that says "Install on linux". OBSERVED RESULT Should offer me to install ksysguard from a flatpak or snap or somewhere, like it does it ubuntu or android or any other software center. Official KDE apps should be published as flatpaks as part of some CI pipeline I imagine. EXPECTED RESULT If ksysguard is not offered by my distribution's package manager, it won't find it. It's not even on flathub BTW. Yet the official KDE software still tells me that that's the button to install it. [plasmashell] [Bug 467385] Non-space-filling panel widgets have unbounded length values and can cause the panel contents to overflow
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467385 --- Comment #2 from Vojtěch Bartoň --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > In fact using the "fill empty space" option is the only thing that can fix > it right now. Without that option being used, the Task Manager widget's > length is unbounded and it's up to you to manage this. > > This seems like a fairly glaring oversight, but in fact it would be > surprisingly challenging to fix: one approach would be to let widgets to be > able to know the size of the panel they live in so they could calculate a > practical maximum width for themselves, but this is currently is not the > case and we don't want to do this because it would break widgets' > encapsulation. What we'd have to do is make the panel itself refuse to allow > non-space-filling widgets to have more than a certain height/width by > capping their width to the value of to [total panel length - combined length > of all other widgets]. But this should only be applied to non-space-filling > widgets; most don't need such treatment. [plasmashell] [Bug 467416] New: Improper centring between two spacers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467416 Bug ID: 467416 Summary: Improper centring between two spacers Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: gamingforyou...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 157317 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=157317=edit Bug in action SUMMARY While having the "Fill empty space" option checked, the Task Manager on a vertical panel seems to have a set minimum height that makes spacers not work properly. Once this minimum height is exceeded, spacers start to work properly. Horizontal panels do not seem to be affected by this bug. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add a VERTICAL panel with an Icon-Only Task Manager between two spacers 2. Uncheck the "Fill empty space" option in it's settings OBSERVED RESULT Task Manager is off-center. The resolutions for login on SDDM is different than plasma > desktop. I'm on Neon and using a HP Spectre 15 x360 convertible 15-bl0xx > with a 4k screen and the resolution for logging in is so small you can't see > the font, yet after logging in, the resolution is correct 1600x900. The > files used via ubuntu or kubuntu to change the resolution does not exist in > neon. Is this a sddm issue or kde? Using sync does nothing. That's a different issue: On X11, SDDM doesn't do hidpi without manual intervention What you want to do is sync your Plasma settings with SDDM in the "Login Screen (SDDM)" page in System Settings. Ultimately you want to end up with [X11] ServerArguments=-dpi 192 In the file /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf. Syncing your settings will do that (well, it'll make the number be correct for your hardware). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
