Hi. I have similar symptoms: plasma crashes 5-10 times per day.
KDE Neon user 5.27.2
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel: 5.19
AMD graphics as well, X11 session.

I feel that it started with 5.26 or 5.25.

Maybe this string from logs could be meaningful:

Mar 12 11:05:34 adept-XPS-13-9360 kwin_x11[1331661]: kwin_core: XCB error: 152
(BadDamage), sequence: 58753, resource id: 5517981, major code: 143 (DAMAGE),
minor code: 3 (Subtract)

For me, most often, it reproduces when I have multiple notifications
simultaneously. But even without a notification, it can crash.
Please LMK if I can help somehow.
Thanks

In the video, I start by showing the expected tab switching behaviour when
Firefox is maximised, then full-screen. Then I snap Firefox to the edge of my
screen and try to switch tabs as before but am unable to do so.

[kwin] [Bug 467388] Non-full-screen windows force resize when mouse is at edge

2023-03-15 Thread deadmeu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467388

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1)
> 1. When you say "full-screen" do you mean actually full screen, or
> mazimized? They're separate states.
Sorry, I mean maximised. I've just tested proper full-screen (by pressing F11)
and maximised in Firefox and VSCode and found that in Firefox, full-screen and
maximised have the same good expected behaviour, but in VSCode going
full-screen causes the scrollbar edge to have the issue. When Maximised, VSCode
exhibits the good expected behaviour I described earlier.
> 2. Does the issue go away if you force the affected XWayland-using apps into
> their native Wayland modes? You can do this for Firefox by adding
> MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to /etc/environment, rebooting, and then starting
> Firefox
I have already enabled Wayland in Firefox (confirmed by checking in
about:support that Window Protocol = wayland). VSCode's behaviour seems to be
identical regardless of whether it's running under XWayland or Wayland
natively.
> 3. Are you using any screen scale factors on your system that aren't either
> 100% or 200%? If so, does the issue go away for XWayland-using apps when you
> do change the scale factor to 100% or 200%?
No, I use 100% scale.
> All of these questions are to help me understand if the issue is Bug 459373,
> or something else.
I don't think this is the same as Bug 459373 and I really don't think this was
an issue prior to me doing a system update a couple of days ago.

It might be worth noting that I have installed Firefox as a Flatpak, but VSCode
was obtained from the Arch repo. Both of these were recently updated alongside
me picking up the Plasma 5.27.3 update but I don't think they would be
responsible for this issue as it appears in multiple programs using custom
decorations.

This happens every time I launch Discord or Bottles, both of which are

I went ahead and ended up with a dependency nightmare and no desktop.

I had to do this commands in order in a tty (ALT+F2)

sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq neon-desktop

sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq plasma-desktop

sudo dpkg --configure -a

sudo pkcon install libharfbuzz-0b

sudo pkcon install plasma-desktop

sudo pkcon install neon-desktop

sudo pkcon install sddm

sudo reboot now

And I got my desktop back! I've read another guide and didn't work for me. So
YMMV.

This would be very useful for Qemu windows as well: -display sdl,gl=on with
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland mouse handling and resolution detection breaks if
scaling is not 100%, making this very hard to use. -display gtk,gl=on also has
issues with the fractional scale.

It does not seem a consistent offset - for some buttons I have to click a
little to the right, others a little underneath, some things I don't seem able
to click.

A "working system" rather than a clean install.

All OK if I change to Virtio. All OK if I log in with X11

because reasons you can ask them.

Since I'm not interested in doing opensuse support, please install from flathub

The screenshot from issue #3 is correct, you have text selection and annotation

But then you show us a video in which that does not happen (which seems a bug

So according to you is there a bug then or not?

SUMMARY
I use KDE Connect on a Windows 11 laptop. My laptop doesn't have separate
right and left buttons on touchpad but a single touchpad area right edge is
right click and left edge is left click. Both of edges/click can not be pressed
at the same time. So, using KDE Connect's Android Mouse Receiver or Remote
Control function is impossible. When i lock the mouse/touchpad i can not
unlock/disable it. There should be a keyboard shortcut or something apart from
two clicks at the same time.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467356

Ah no, it's an Elisa bug. When exiting full screen, we run showNormal() which
explicitly makes it windowed. We need to keep track of whether the prior state
was windowed or maximized, and if it was maximized, do showMaximized() instead.

Git commit 8219a57e1b9196a437a235d7c6d43c24cbdfdd17 by Nate Graham.
Committed on 15/03/2023 at 21:20.

Reset slider position to 0 when manually clearing playlist

Otherwise the slider gets disabled, but not reset, so it's stuck in a
nonzero position until you play some more music. This isn't really a
problem per se, but it looks kind of weird.

Hello,

thanks for your report. I have just fixed the crash. However Marble still shows
an empty panel.
It looks to me like you are testing with a WMTS server instead of a WMS server.
At the moment Marble doesn't have support for WMTS however I'm about to add
support for it.

Best regards

Hi, It's the Icons-Only Task Manager. About the empty space, I don't think
there should be any in the first place, it's preventing the spacers from
centering the Task Manager. This only affects vertical panels, horizontal ones
center just fine.

This bug report is also a follow up to the bug I submitted a couple hours ago:

1. Only one physical screen. HDMI, through dedicated GPU
2. X11 weirdly. I thought I installed wayland during initial setup, but x11 is
what's running in task manager
I'll check once I figure out how to switch to wayland
3. Haven't slept the system since I last sorted it out again, but it doesn't

[kde] [Bug 467421] New: Button in KDE apps website is misleading, doesn't have flatpaks/snaps/etc. on it

2023-03-15 Thread David

Bug ID: 467421
Summary: Button in KDE apps website is misleading, doesn't have
flatpaks/snaps/etc. on it
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I click a link in apps.kde.org to install an app, I imagine that it'd work
more or less universally - meaning: there should be an official flatpak or
snap, or something that would let me install apps from apps.kde.org, like it
works in othe app stores or in ubuntu/gnome. Otherwise, the button looks
misleading - it has an app install icon, but it's not offering any app there,
just passing a search term to discover for something that might not even exist.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to https://apps.kde.org/ksysguard/
2. Click the big button that says "Install on linux".

OBSERVED RESULT
Should offer me to install ksysguard from a flatpak or snap or somewhere, like
it does it ubuntu or android or any other software center. Official KDE apps
should be published as flatpaks as part of some CI pipeline I imagine.

EXPECTED RESULT
If ksysguard is not offered by my distribution's package manager, it won't find
it. It's not even on flathub BTW. Yet the official KDE software still tells me
that that's the button to install it.

A few questions:
1. When you say "full-screen" do you mean actually full screen, or mazimized?
They're separate states.
2. Does the issue go away if you force the affected XWayland-using apps into
their native Wayland modes? You can do this for Firefox by adding
MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to /etc/environment, rebooting, and then starting Firefox
3. Are you using any screen scale factors on your system that aren't either
100% or 200%? If so, does the issue go away for XWayland-using apps when you do
change the scale factor to 100% or 200%?

All of these questions are to help me understand if the issue is Bug 459373, or
something else.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install nemo.
2. Press 'windows' to trigger application launcher.
3. Type "nemo".

I see. There may be some confusion here; Discover is simply a graphical
front-end to the apps available on your system through distro packages,
Flatpak, and Snap. If an app isn't available in those places, Discover won't be
able to show it to you either.

That said, if an app isn't available and yo tell Discover to open it directly
by its URL, it's supposed to show you a message to that effect, nod load
forever.

[plasmashell] [Bug 467416] New: Improper centring between two spacers

2023-03-15 Thread Vojtěch Bartoň
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467416

Bug ID: 467416
Summary: Improper centring between two spacers
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

Bug in action

SUMMARY
While having the "Fill empty space" option checked, the Task Manager on a
vertical panel seems to have a set minimum height that makes spacers not work
properly. Once this minimum height is exceeded, spacers start to work properly.
Horizontal panels do not seem to be affected by this bug.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a VERTICAL panel with an Icon-Only Task Manager between two spacers
2. Uncheck the "Fill empty space" option in it's settings

OBSERVED RESULT
Task Manager is off-center.

EXPECTED RESULT
Center the Task Manager properly.

Ah, thanks, that does indeed help a lot! I was getting confused because virtual
desktops aren't per-monitor; it's a global list. So you can drag the window to
the other desktop in the strip on the screen it's currently located on.

Am I understanding that you want to simultaneously move the window not only to
another desktop, but also to another screen at the same time?

What happens if you run `systemctl start plasma-kglobalaccel.service` in a

Also `systemctl status plasma-kglobalaccel.service`?

shouldn't recur going forward due to the new system we have in Plasma 5.27. So
hopefully this is the last time it should ever happen! Fingers crossed!

That's a different issue: On X11, SDDM doesn't do hidpi without manual
intervention What you want to do is sync your Plasma settings with SDDM in the
"Login Screen (SDDM)" page in System Settings. Ultimately you want to end up
with

[X11]
ServerArguments=-dpi 192

In the file /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf. Syncing your settings will do
that (well, it'll make the number be correct for your hardware).
