[kwin] [Bug 481750] New: Periodic flicker on secondary monitor with fullscreen window on primary monitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481750 Bug ID: 481750 Summary: Periodic flicker on secondary monitor with fullscreen window on primary monitor Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.93.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: jo...@skold.cc Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Using wayland with two monitors: - Dell AW3423DW, 3440x1440 @ 175 Hz, DisplayPort - cocopar 133LR, 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz, HDMI My GPU is an AMD RX 6900 XT, and I'm using the RADV vulkan drivers (v. 24.0.1). The AMDVLK drivers are not installed. Whenever I have a window in fullscreen on the Dell monitor, the cocopar will flicker from time to time. As in it goes black for a second or two before coming back on. Sometimes I can go several minutes without seeing the flicker, other times it happens again within seconds. It seems to happen very frequently when toggling fullscreen on or off, so that's a fast way to repro. If I force atomic modesetting off (`KWIN_DRM_NO_AMS=1`) it's a 100% repro rate whenever toggling fullscreen on or off. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have two monitors connected and configured to extend the desktop. 2. Toggle fullscreen on or off in some application on one monitor. OBSERVED RESULT The second monitor turns off and on again. EXPECTED RESULT The second monitor does not turn off. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.7.6-zen1-1-zen / 6.0 RC2 KDE Plasma Version: 5.93.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - The Dell monitor never flickers, it's always the cocopar. - Toggling fullscreen on or off on the cocopar also causes it to flicker. - The same setup worked in an older version of plasma (unsure of what version, but whatever was in arch's repos a few months ago), with `KWIN_DRM_NO_AMS=1`. Unsure about without. - The same setup also works in sway, with or without atomic modesetting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 481686] Continue to show menus for the previously-focused window when focus is lost to the panel or one of its widgets
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481686 --- Comment #3 from Emir SARI --- (In reply to Doug from comment #2) > Could the Global Menu be populated with a "System" menu that links to > various system functions like Settings or disk management, or Dolphin's menu > (a la the way MacOS's uses Finder) whenever Plasma Desktop has focus? This is a good solution, but I think the active window would still lose focus whenever other widgets are clicked. I think the approach here should be something similar to a dedicated Global Menu mode, where it is treated as a root Plasma object which has greater privileges rather than just being a widget. The user can switch to the previous "Taskbar Mode", where they can customise their panels as needed, but the Global Menu mode would change the paradigm totally (just like macOS does). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

But now the okular user interface, especially menu and toolbar is really messed up. Some icons appear too big and seem to get cut off on their right or bottom. Hovering around the menu area makes things much worse. As it is okular can only be used for the simplistic viewing of a pdf for example. Trying to use annotations is way too messed up to do any work with. Steps: 1) Open any PDF file. 2a) Initially observe some UI corruption. 2b) If click on any menu item, e.g. File, then hover right menu immediately gets messed up further. I didn't see a nightly build available to test this, so I downloaded the most recent flatpak from https://flathub.org/apps/org.kde.okular to test this. [dolphin] [Bug 481672] Add Hide/View Preview, Group Elements, Sort By as default to the toolbar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481672 Felix Ernst changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL CC||felixer...@kde.org --- Comment #1 from Felix Ernst --- Hey, thank you for voicing your wish! We somewhat regularly have people giving ideas about which buttons should or should not be on the toolbar. However, which buttons are useful is quite different between different user types. You might be interested in this somewhat recent discussion in which a user suggests completely different toolbar buttons than you just did: https://discuss.kde.org/t/dolphin-file-managers-bad-default-toolbar-ui-experience/10135 In any case, from the ones you suggest, the "Sort By" action is currently being discussed to be added to the Dolphin toolbar by default. The other two should not be added. The very short reasons are that "Previews" is something that users typically shouldn't have to ever toggle back and forth, and that "Group Elements" is not really useful for small folders and light file management and not necessary either for more advanced workflows (even though it can be really nice there). I hope you don't mind that I close this bug report now. The "Sort By" is already being discussed and the other two actions have already been ruled out by past discussions, so keeping this bug report open like this might lead to confusion. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 481742] New: Panel configuration popup hidden behind second panel

However, while exploring, I found the following one: *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Take a standard panel 2. Add a second standard panel 3. Move that to the bottom too 4. Right click the new panel that now sits on top of the first one 5. click start edit mode OBSERVED RESULT panel configuration popup appears behind the second panel (it seems to be positioned relative to the first panel) EXPECTED RESULT panel configuration popup appears above the top most panel so nothing is hidden behind that panel SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.93.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.7.6-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 481649] New clickable storage status button misbehaves when Filelight is not installed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481649 Felix Ernst changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #8 from Felix Ernst --- We already have an open merge request fixing this for over two month now: https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/merge_requests/674 Unfortunately there was no progress on it in a while for reasons unknown to me. The problem isn't about the new button visuals by the way, but because for the mega release a specific piece of software (KMoreTools) for recommending to install Filelight has been retired: https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/commit/2cd3d58eec5695899c26ca66a631fb79867b6584 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 481741] New: When the slideshow plugin changes the wallpaper, the newly selected wallpaper is not updated in the configuration file or DBUS API
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481741 Bug ID: 481741 Summary: When the slideshow plugin changes the wallpaper, the newly selected wallpaper is not updated in the configuration file or DBUS API Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Image Wallpaper Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: o...@geek.co.il CC: notm...@gmail.com, qydwhotm...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY When setting a desktop containment to use the slideshow plugin, when the slideshow changes the wallpaper image to a new image, it used to be that the plugin will update the configuration file ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc with the new image URL stored in the entry `[Containments][ID][Wallpaper][org.kde.slideshow][General]` under the key `Image`. Also the DBUS API would answer the call `org.kde.plasmashell /PlasmaShell org.kde.plasmashell.wallpaper ` and will list the current wallpaper image. In Plasma 6 this no longer works. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set the wallpaper to use the image slideshow plugin, with a few images available 2. List the current wallpaper image through the DBUS API: `qdbus org.kde.plasmashell /PlasmaShell org.kde.PlasmaShell.wallpaper 0` (assuming the primary screen) 3. Right click the desktop and choose "Next Wallpaper" 4. List the current wallpaper image again through the DBUS API OBSERVED RESULT The output from the DBUS API call remains unchanged EXPECTED RESULT The "Image" value in the DBUS API result should change to reflect the new image. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.5.0-17-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 20 × 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-12700H Memory: 31.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Graphics ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I tried to figure out the problem on my own, and I have verified that the code in plasma-workspace/wallpapers/image/plugin/imagebackend.cpp does correctly call `ImageBackend::saveCurrentWallpaper()`, which does correctly calls the QML `WallpaperItem.imageView.imageWallpaper.writeImageConfig()`, and that correctly updates the `Image` field in the config map. But that change isn't propagated where I expect it to be updated and at this point I don't know where else to look. This may be related to the change that fixed bug #461490 but I am unsure how. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Phonon has now been replaced with libcanberra for playing sound files in the thread. This should fix the crash.
