[plasmashell] [Bug 481999] New: Plasma 6: Some applications like steam and quassel show a white page icon in systray
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481999 Bug ID: 481999 Summary: Plasma 6: Some applications like steam and quassel show a white page icon in systray Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.93.0 Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: System Tray Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sighun...@gmx.de CC: mate...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 166182 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=166182=edit Screenshot, note the 2 white icons in systray SUMMARY After switching to Plasma 6.0, some icons in systray only show up as a white sheet of paper (application-x-zerosize.svg) instead of the actual application icon. those showed up correctly in plasma 5.27.x. So far I noticed this with steam (installed via flatpak) and quassel irc client (native install). It does not happen with all systray icons, e.g. owncloud client icon works correctly. See screenshot attached. Note: I can not select 6.0 as Version for this bug, so I used 5.93.0 instead STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. use plasma 6.0.0 2. start steam or quassel 3. look in systray OBSERVED RESULT icons just a generic white page icon EXPECTED RESULT the correct application icon should show up SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This has been the case when I first tried out plasma 6 beta some weeks ago -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Discover] [Bug 481993] Discover fails to launch after upgrade to Neon 6.0
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481993 Jay Stevens changed: What|Removed |Added CC||k...@jaystevens.me --- Comment #2 from Jay Stevens --- +1 - I also upgraded this morning via Discover and have this problem. User KDE Neon, not doing any funny business... just pressed the "upgrade" button this morning from latest stable Plasma without realizing how much would break. I can see in System Monitor that there is a phantom Discover process running. I cannot interact with it, nor can I see the Discover window on any desktop. Launching via command line gives nothing but a blank entry for approximately 5 minutes, before erroring with: `Failed to register name 'org.kde.discover' with DBUS - does this process have permission to use the name, and do no other processes own it already?` If I force-kill the phantom Discover process and try to launch Discover via command line, I instead get: ``` libs QList("/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt6/plugins", "/usr/bin") org.kde.plasma.libdiscover: OdrsReviewsBackend: Fetch ratings: true adding empty sources model QStandardItemModel(0x5650cae90080) ``` Then it hangs forever. Uninstalling/reinstalling Discover does not change anything; it acts the same after being freshly reinstalled. At system launch, I do get a notification from Discover: ``` Failed to update 1 package Error while installing package: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.KSplash.service', which is also in package plasma-workspace 4 ``` This notification went away when I reinstalled plasma-workspace (`pkcon install plasma-workspace --allow-reinstall`), but Discover is still broken. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[skrooge] [Bug 476591] Part of the skrooge flatpak's user interface is not translated and remains in English
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476591 --- Comment #7 from skierpage --- (In reply to Jean-Pierre V from comment #6) > [ org.kde.skrooge locale] cd /app/share/locale > [ org.kde.skrooge locale]$ ls -l > ... > lrwxrwxrwx 1 nfsnobody nfsnobody 38 24 févr. 15:06 fi -> > ../../share/runtime/locale/fi/share/fi > (no "fr" symlink!) > lrwxrwxrwx 1 nfsnobody nfsnobody 38 24 févr. 15:06 ga -> > ../../share/runtime/locale/ga/share/ga That seems to be the problem. There's no symlink for the one locale that should actually have localization files in org.kde.skrooge.Locale. The fix is (outside the flatpak): Close the running flatpak % flatpak info --show-location org.kde.skrooge % cd (to the path above, e.g. in my system installation it is, /var/lib/flatpak/app/org.kde.skrooge/x86_64/stable/active/ ) % cd files/share/locale % sudo ln -s ../../share/runtime/locale/fr/share/fr This symbolic link doesn't resolve, but at runtime inside the flatpak it links to the French localization files that org.kde.skrooge.Locale should provide if flatpak thought you need/want the French locale when you installed Skrooge. % ls -l f* fi -> ../../share/runtime/locale/fi/share/fi fr -> ../../share/runtime/locale/fr/share/fr (^ added the missing symlink for "fr") and now if you start the flatpak you should have the full French localization! (I had to fiddle around a lot removing and reinstalling, and adjusting LANG.) The question is why does, e.g. the Gwenview flatpak have this link, but not Skrooge? Why does the skrooge flatpak have a symlink for e.g. a Finnish translation, but not French or German? We need to cross-breed a build expert, localization expert, and flatpak expert. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Can't reproduce on plasma 6 lockscreen -- typing correctly reveals the password field/logon box. Since you are using debian 12, you are probably on plasma 5.27.5, which is unfortunately out of support from KDE. Debian advises users to not submit bugs upstream (https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting), as this version of the KDE software is out of support from KDE, and so it's possible that the bug exists only in Debian at this point. Could you report the bug to Debian using the report bug utility (https://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/reportbug)? If necessary, the maintainer of the package will forward the bug upstream. [kwin] [Bug 481985] Feature request: bring back "Walk through desktops" shortcut
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481985 --- Comment #1 from Sean Colsen --- Perhaps it's also worth mentioning that I see two other keyboard shortcuts titled "Switch to Next Desktop" and "Switch to Previous Desktop". I've tried enabling them, but they don't appear to do anything. I have a vague recollection that these keyboard shortcuts used to function in a manner where they would switch to the next/previous desktop in the order they are listed. That's not what I want. I want to be able to switch to the desktop I was previously on. I could be remembering incorrectly though. If there is an easy way to enable a one-shot shortcut to simply switch to the desktop I was previously on, I'd love to know how to do that! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 453109] Allow scrolling in the overview to switch between virtual desktops
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453109 Quinten Kock changed: What|Removed |Added CC||quinten@quinten.space --- Comment #12 from Quinten Kock --- I think this would be a very useful addition also as of Plasma 6. Currently there is no way to use only the mouse to switch between virtual desktops, nor is there any ergonomic 'left-handed' shortcut like Meta+Tab is for toggling the overview. On my laptop I can nicely switch between desktops by using a 3/4-finger swipe, but it would be nice if there was a similarly easy way on desktop. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 481985] New: Feature request: bring back "Walk through desktops" shortcut
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481985 Bug ID: 481985 Summary: Feature request: bring back "Walk through desktops" shortcut Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: colsen.s...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- I see that in https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/3871 the desktop switching keyboard shortcuts were removed. I just upgraded to KDE 6 today and am crestfallen to discover that these keyboard shortcuts no longer work. This ticket is a desperate plea for you to please bring (at least some of) them back. Perhaps I am idiosyncratic, but I have been relying on heavily on the "Walk through desktops" keyboard shortcut for probably well over 10 years. I would venture to guess that I have been using this keyboard shortcut over 100 times every day. Seriously. I actually use it slightly MORE frequently than switching between windows. I'm front end web software engineer, and I organize my work into a grid of 9 desktops, most commonly making use of several desktops at a time. Without getting too into the weeds, I'll just say that "switching to the desktop that I was previously on" gives me a very convenient way to toggle between two groups of similar windows at a time, and that is tremendously helpful for my day-to-day tasks and the way my brain works. Often I have one desktop with Thunderbird, Matrix Element, GitHub, Basecamp (all the comms windows); and another with my code editor, terminal, browser, dev tools (my dev work). I toggle between those two desktops frequently. Then I might utilize a different desktop for a slightly more ephemeral task, say a small bit of research that requires several windows but will only take 2 hours. Then I'm often toggling between that desktop and my comms desktop or my dev desktop. I've tried using activities for this but it really doesn't work as well for me. I like to be able to visually group windows into similar types of tasks without having to give names to them. And I like to zoom out and see all my open windows at once using the desktop grid. Those things are harder with activities. Desktops feel lighter weight and easier for me to reason about. I am still able to use keyboard shortcuts to switch to a specific desktop or to switch to a desktop in a specific direction (e.g. "left"), but that doesn't allow me to toggle between two desktops. That's the important thing I'm missing. I desperately want a keyboard shortcut again that will take me to the desktop I was just on. It doesn't even need to have the "walk though" functionality. That is, I don't need to see a list switcher pop up to switch between any of my 9 desktops (because I can use the grid for that). I just want to go back to the one I was just on. Please please PLEASE!!! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 481979] New: No audio and video play in information panel (After upgrade to qt6 and plasma6)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481979 Bug ID: 481979 Summary: No audio and video play in information panel (After upgrade to qt6 and plasma6) Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.02.0 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: panels: information Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: someanonymousema...@mail.ru CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After yesterday big update to plasma6 there is no more audio and video play preview at information panel. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Update to latest kde neon 2. Choose mp3 or mp4 file in Dolphin and try to click play button at info side-panel 3. Nothing happens, and timeline control in preview area are grayed (like «function inaccessible for now») EXPECTED RESULT Play of audio/video file in small preview area in info panel. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Neon Latest KDE Plasma Version: 6 KDE Frameworks Version: 6 Qt Version: 6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION When start Dolphin from Konsole, I've got many lines of warnings like this: ``` kf.kio.core: An error occurred during write. The worker terminates now. WARNING: bool Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend() phonon backend plugin could not be loaded WARNING: bool Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend() phonon backend plugin could not be loaded WARNING: Phonon::createPath: Cannot connect Phonon::MediaObject ( no objectName ) to EmbeddedVideoPlayer ( no objectName ). Before yesterday big update all worked fine. Maybe, during update, when Discover audo-deleted 2-3 dozens of packages — it didn't install package or plugin for this function of media-preview? Maybe I need to install something else? I've installed manually `pkcon install phonon-backend-gstreamer` but nothing changed, it didn't help. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481975 Zamundaaa changed: What|Removed |Added CC||xaver.h...@gmail.com Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |UPSTREAM --- Comment #3 from Zamundaaa --- This is a NVidia driver issue, see https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1317 for details. The issue appearing or disappearing has no real cause; it's a race condition that can be triggered by lots of things. NVidia has a workaround for Wayland native apps, so it should not happen if you run these apps as Wayland native. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 481978] New: DOUBLE LOCK SCREEN ON LINUXFX PLASMA WUBUNTU 11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481978 Bug ID: 481978 Summary: DOUBLE LOCK SCREEN ON LINUXFX PLASMA WUBUNTU 11 Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: 5.27.9 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: kcm_sddm Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: jgabrielbma...@gmail.com CC: k...@david-redondo.de, k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Using a portable laptop (mine is SONY VAIO VPCEA 490 X) set the "automatically lock screen: After returning from suspension" value from false to true, checking the box; 2. Lock up the screen by simply close the laptop; 3. Once you open it up again and press any button, it will enter you in a lockscreen that is different from any you setted up, and has no response to any password including the correct one. The only way to get out is by clicking in "change user" button, under the password box. This will take you to your real lock screen where you can actually place your password in order to acess your computer. OBSERVED RESULT I were directed as said to a useless lockscreen that does not acept any password and dont has any way out other than "change user" button, that takes me to the real lock screen instead of changing user. EXPECTED RESULT I expected to turn on my computer and see my lock screen there ready to be unlocked, by me or any of my coworkers even if they are older than me. I cant explain every time in details how to unlock my computer because i use a "weird system". I dont know how this works, and its my first time with linux for personal permanent use. I have also found other bug that relates exactly with what ive been going thru, under the 457170 BUG ID. I dont know how this feedback works but if this solves my problem i have some more bugs to tell, such as keyboard options reseting every computer restart or my WINE dont running properly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
