Unfortunately this would be a Thunderbird bug. DND mode can only suppress
sounds that come from notifications; if Thunderbird plays the sound via the
main UI rather than a notification, we can't do anything about it. I know yo
said this didn't happen in 5.27, but it's possible that Thunderbird itself was
updated around the same time and made this change coincidentally.

Regardless, please submit a bug report for Thunderbird.

I think X11 because Wayland had these problems where it turned to gray which
solved themselves now and I intended to use Wayland and do use it now. I think
I can't reproduce it now because the problem disappeared once disabling the
other display in the Display Configuration.

I can describe how it looked like: exactly the same lockscreen just smaller and
in the left corner of the larger lockscreen without any borders. Entering the
password or clicking something on one also does it on the other lockscreen. I
tried reproducing it by enabling the other display again but the lockscreen is
as it should be. I tried Wayland in Debian11 before with both screens before
switching back to X11 after a while so maybe that created some configs that
then caused problems,

kcms/mouse: also filter mice that say they're keyboards

When enumerating devices to identify mice, the KCM already filters out
pointer devices that say they're touchpads. But it doesn't do so for
devices that say they're keyboards.

This is weird, but apparently a lot of gaming mice report themselves as
multiple devices with one being a keyboard that has only a couple of
buttons on it.

Let's filter these out so that we only see the mouse representation of
these devices in the KCM.

[KScreen] [Bug 485298] New: Detect misconfigurations and automatically reset them

2024-04-09 Thread Matthias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485298

Bug ID: 485298
Summary: Detect misconfigurations and automatically reset them
Classification: Plasma
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 6.0.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: shaloksha...@protonmail.ch
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

There are several cases of misconfigurations, who lead to parts of the monitor
setup, or the entirety of it, as inaccessible.
Those are major issues, since essentially the entire installation of the OS is
not usable anymore, or certain hardware with that installation. I raised one
proposal, that aims to prevent that by introducing a countdown/confirmation
button to the OSD widget. Still, by accidentally confirming such an ill setup,
this issue could occur as well. Also, the confirmation countdown could render
the OSD/Plasma widget as cumbersome, since it is intended to provide a quick
and easy way, to change the output device.

This proposal intents to detect ill setups and automatically corrects them.

Currently, KScreen and KWin are completely fine with establishing a connection,
that results in a black screen so long as it had been confirmed by the KScreen
KCM before.

That results in several issues, where KScreen connects to a device, that is not
showing any content, while simultaneously applying the ill configuration. So
KScreen/Kwin definitely detects the hardware, and does act upon it, despite the
hardware not showing any content.

I am confident, that we can simply restore to a healthy default, when we detect
that the output is not displayed at all?

Or do (some) displays not even report this back?
I mean, isnt there a way to read the resolution, etc, which would - assumingly
- not be valid?

Or maybe the refresh rate?
Are there really displays out there, who report the values we might expect,
despite not showing anything?
Including my very own internal laptop display?

Reference list:

First issue: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485269
Second issue: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484592

Add WireGuard config field for interface name

Fixes ~~BUG: 412795~~ BUG: 479179

Previously the WireGuard configuration took the connection name as the
interface name. This had a host of problems, especially that the default
connection name was not valid for an interface name, and that an invalid
interface
name would result in losing all of your changes.

This commit adds a required "Interface name" field (with proper validation).
This behavior mirrors `nm-connection-editor`.

I have no idea, what caused this error. The error in 484592 is known and
reproducible.
This error also disables the main laptop screen, and renders the entire
installation of the OS essentially inaccessible.
The error in 484592 only renders the specific external device unusable.

That's fine, we can do that instead, but what about people not using Systemd?
That use case needs to be considered too. We also may need to kill the worker
processes as IIRC at least at some point in the past that didn't happen
automatically. If we can handle all those subtleties then it's feasible to
remove the message and kust restart the service in the background.

> Ah yes, you're right. Filtering out PowerDevil by "who" should do the trick.
> Thanks for the good thought, it looks like my brain isn't in top shape today
> :P

Although there is still the issue of when to check for updates. Right now
PowerDevil monitors the "BlockInhibited" property of the logind D-Bus interface
and re-reads the current list of inhibitors when that property changes. If an
inhibitor for "handle-lid-switch" is already set, adding a second one won't
cause "BlockInhibited" to change. There is an "NCurrentInhibitors" property
which could help with this, but no D-Bus signal is emitted when it changes.

One could resort to polling, but that's a terrible hack and we should first
look into a proper long-term solution before considering to add this
temporarily.

Hello !

Thank you vive.linux.

It happened today on Opensuse Tumbleweed 240407, on my P14s AMD Gen1 : I lost
the three fingers to middle click after using the four fingers swipe gesture.
Using a 4 fingers swipe again resolved the issue.

Thank you !

Fair enough. I expected as much. I might have a go but typically the KDE
programming style is very different from how I write C++, so when it comes to
contributing to KDE, I might as well be a complete novice that couldn't
correctly write a hello world GUI. Most likely I'll just swap out Spectacle for
some other Wayland compatible screenshot snapper or just use the already
working OBS. Cheers.

Ah yes, you're right. Filtering out PowerDevil by "who" should do the trick.

Specifically, a ListView or an AbstractButton, or I guess any other event
handling type inside a ListView causes it. Note that SwipeView is implemented
using a ListView a its contentItem. This is most definitely an upstream bug,
and bare QtQuick as well, as it is reproducible without QtQuick.Controls import
at all.

when the phone is not connected to the PC
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdeconnect

  Platform: Android
OS: Android 13.x

***

SUMMARY
Even when the phone is not connected to the PC because it is off or out of
range, the application uses the high-impact and not low-impact background (you
can see it from running applications in the Quick Settings Page)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install KDE connect
2. You will always see a high-impact process running

OBSERVED RESULT
in the Active Apps section (in the Quick Settings shade) You will always see a
high-impact KDE Connect process

EXPECTED RESULT
When the device is not connected to the PC, the application should not use a
high-impact process since it is not doing practically anything

  Target Milestone: ---

I noticed a delay when I move back and forward between folders using the mouse
buttons (4-5), this delay is equal to double-clicking the left mouse button on
a folder to open it. I can also reduce this delay in "Settings > General
Behavior > Double-click interval" but then I can't open the folder by
double-clicking. I would like to know if there is a way to remove the double
click delay for additional mouse buttons?

I would like to move between directories as quickly as I press a button

Reading the backtrace and the related place in code, this crash was probably
fixed in git some days ago by

so I'm closing this as fixed.

Should you still somewhy encounter this with current git builds
(amarok-2.9.75git.20240406* or later) or wih the upcoming 3.0beta1, please
don't hesitate to reopen.
