[korganizer] [Bug 401881] New: google calendar sync problem

2018-12-07 Thread Mitchell McClure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401881

Bug ID: 401881
   Summary: google calendar sync problem
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.7.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: recurrence
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mitchell.g.mccl...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Syncing Google Calendar with KOrganizer does function, but when a single
instance of a repeated item is deleted from Google's Calendar, all instances of
said item are deleted from KOraganizer

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. From a browser open your Google Calendar.
2. Choose a repeating meeting from recent past to delete.
3. When deleting choose "This Event Only".

OBSERVED RESULT
The expected result in Google Calendar happens. Only that event is deleted,
while its repeated entries are left as-is. In KOrganizer ALL entries of said
event are deleted.

EXPECTED RESULT
One would expect KOrganizer's behavior to duplicate Google Calendar's behavior.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0

nah...not the same issue. the "panel(s)" and its widgets are left
intact...only the desktop widgets and desktop background vanish.
also, rebooting / logging off+on doesn't restore them...they have to be
reconfigured again, each time the disappear.

2021-01-20 Thread Mitchell McClure

When my widgets and background disappear at logon sometimes, the
"plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc" entries beginning with
"[Containments][1]" are always missing from the file. I replace this
"corrupted" file with a backup copy, and log off / on...the background and
widgets are restored. I cannot say what is causing the corruption / the
removal of the "[Containments][1]" sections of
"plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc"?

I only have one screen, and when this happens...HOPEFULLY I've created a recent
copy of "plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc". A chunk of this file gets
deleted every so often which is what this bug is. I replace this file with my
backup copy, and it's fine for another few days, weeks, hours...the timing is
random.

"Known Workaround"?

The cause of this problem is mysteriously + randomly, the [Containments][1]
section is deleted from the contents
of...plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc...

The only "workaround" is a restoration using a manually backed up LKGC of this
file.
