[dolphin] [Bug 483797] Selected folders are black

Pure black icon looks completely out of place. Maybe black outline would solve
this issue?

[kwin] [Bug 485735] New: Removing the mention of --xwayland from plasma-kwin_wayland.service results in a 30-sec delay in the start-up time for the plasma environment

2024-04-18 Thread Oleg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485735

Bug ID: 485735
Summary: Removing the mention of --xwayland from
plasma-kwin_wayland.service results in a 30-sec delay
in the start-up time for the plasma environment
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: oleglelc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Remove the mention of --xwayland from plasma-kwin_wayland.service

OBSERVED RESULT
It results in a 30-second long waiting period before the plasma environment
appears on the screen

EXPECTED RESULT
The plasma environment should appear on the screen almost immediately

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: either plasma 6.0.80 from the KDE Neon Unstable edition or
plasma 6.0.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If I want to disable the Xwayland-on-demand feature, then removing the mention
of --xwayland from plasma-kwin_wayland.service results in a 30-second long
waiting period before the plasma environment appears on the screen. It looks
like the wayland session still depends on ksmserver which in turn depends on
the proper functioning of Xwayland. The wayland session's hard dependency on
ksmserver should be removed.

[systemsettings] [Bug 479797] New: Autostart section of System Settings crashes if add application desktop shortcut to autostart, that is installed by flatpak.

2024-01-14 Thread Oleg

Bug ID: 479797
Summary: Autostart section of System Settings crashes if add
application desktop shortcut to autostart, that is
installed by flatpak.
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Debian stable

Application: systemsettings (5.27.5)

Qt Version: 5.15.8
Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Operating System: Linux 6.1.0-13-amd64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
DrKonqi: 5.27.5 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I installed Viber from Flatpak. If try to add it to Autostart section of System
Settings, nothing strange happens. But when restart the system, Viber doesn't
start up for some reason. After I opened Autostart and tried to look inside the
added shortcut by clicking edit button, the System Settings window crashed.
This happens every time! I looked into stacktrace and didn't find any valuable
info there, cause the tracing only indicated the line positions of the
respective *.so libs in the stack! No any additional textual info or something!

I suspect, that crashing is caused due to the parsing complications of the
command-line... Here it is from viber.desktop file:

Exec='/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=viber
com.viber.Viber'

The same thing occurs for similar *.desktop files, that have more complex
command lines... so the problem is more global.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

NO, i cant re-produce that bug anymore. it happened just once.

i suspect that it may be related to partial update state i had that moment,
updates where just installed and PC was not re-boot and may be some libs got
messed up?

the actions i took was

1) press [PrintScreen] then
2) close Spectacle window without doing any canges.

For some reason it only happens (for me) with taskbar thumbnails, task switcher
thumbnails don't cause any problems. Turning off taskbar thumbnails solves
issue.

KWin Wayland could completely freeze on AMDGPU ignoring any input while rest of
the system stays completely intact. I encountered this issue on my 6700 XT
desktop and 5600H laptop. Killing "kwin_wayland" process eventually will bring
you to SDDM but that's not practically different from rebooting. In the

I think we can close it.

After 15 years it doesn’t make any sense because CMake really does the job.

Can confirm.
In Firefox wayland version if I copy URL from address bar I can't paste it
anywhere else than Firefox itself. For some reason it only happens to URLs from
address bar, any other text from Firefox copies just fine.

[plasmashell] [Bug 463694] New: KDE Plasma crashes when downloading file with browser

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463694

Bug ID: 463694
Summary: KDE Plasma crashes when downloading file with browser
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.26.4
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jilin.o...@gmail.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.26.4)

Qt Version: 5.15.7
Frameworks Version: 5.101.0
Operating System: Linux 6.0.15-300.fc37.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: Fedora Linux 37 (KDE Plasma)
DrKonqi: 5.26.4 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
When I get promt to select location to save file to and confirm it, plasmashell
process crashes and restarts. Tested with Firefox (Fedora 37 repositories) and
Ungoogled Chromium (flatpak). File saves without issues, only things I changed
related to browserss are forcing Firefox to use KDE file picker (not cromiuim)
and reverted to version *.34 of gtk3 package unstead of latest *.35. Only
custom plasmoids in use are Text Command, Compact Shutdown and Color Picker

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[yakuake] [Bug 462083] New: [Wayland] yakuake small height and cannot be adjusted

2022-11-20 Thread Oleg Yakovenko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462083

Bug ID: 462083
Summary: [Wayland] yakuake small height and cannot be adjusted
Classification: Applications
   Product: yakuake
   Version: 22.08.3
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

Created attachment 153911
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153911=edit
Video of the bug

SUMMARY

After upgrade to Plasma 5.26.3 yakuake became really small in vertical height.
When trying to manually adjust the height yakuake seems to "hit some limit" and
doesn't expand beyond 256 columns and 6 rows on a 4K screen.
Tried multiple versions starting from 22.03.90 and up to 22.08.3 which leads me
to believe that something has changed in Plasma or QT Frameworks which breaks
the height calculation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open yakuake
2. Try adjusting height by dragging border.

OBSERVED RESULT
Yakuake can shrink in height but cannot be increased after "restoring" original
size (for me it's 6 rows). Adjusting number of rows and columns has no effect.

EXPECTED RESULT
Yakuake can change height freely

Retry with hardware acceleration disabled.
It crashes after updating Mesa 22.1 -> 22.2 branch

No, it is a Mesa bug, which has been bisected and tested with reproducer (see

$ /usr/lib/chkpwd/tcb_chkpwd
bash: /usr/lib/chkpwd/tcb_chkpwd: Отказано в доступе
we simply get EACCES when invoking helper without proper permissions

# chmod o+x /usr/lib/chkpwd/
# chmod g-s /usr/libexec/kf5/kscreenlocker_greet
$ /usr/lib/chkpwd/tcb_chkpwd
$

/usr/lib/chkpwd/ does not have o+x bit:
# l -d /usr/lib/chkpwd/
drwx--x--- 1 root chkpwd 20 фев 17 2022 /usr/lib/chkpwd/

It prevents /usr/lib/chkpwd/* to execute even if they have o+x bits.
And it seems to be intentional

tcb/progs/Makefile:
install: install-common
install -d -o root -g chkpwd -m 710 $(DESTDIR)$(LIBEXECDIR)/chkpwd
install -m 2711 -o root -g shadow $(CHKPWD) \

Yes. Can't prove why but I tested with sgid bit removed and I can't unlock my
session.
That's why kcheckpass had attrs:
-rwx--s--x 1 root chkpwd [...] /usr/libexec/kf5/kcheckpass

Now same attrs should be on kscreenlocker_greet:
-rwx--s--x 1 root chkpwd 149864 авг 26 17:18
/usr/libexec/kf5/kscreenlocker_greet

I don't think it's a good idea to give sgid to the whole greeter instead of
kcheckpass which is small and written w/o Qt

Also:
#l /usr/lib/chkpwd/
итого 16
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 20362 сен 5 10:39 ../
drwx--x--- 1 root chkpwd20 фев 17 2022 ./

I don't think it's an upstream problem but still I would appreciate any help on
restoring kcheckpass in any way.
Or moving from Plasma 5.24 to 5.25 would be blocked in our stable products.

Just restoring files from 5.24.6 works but it's not fine - authentificator
interface has changed since and plasma-workspace needs patching as well.

Additional info:
# l /usr/libexec/kf5/kscreenlocker_greet
-rwx--s--x 1 root chkpwd 158056 авг 31 18:01
/usr/libexec/kf5/kscreenlocker_greet

Our distro uses tcb with users have their own /etc/tcb//shadow

As of consequence, password checker has to be in chkpwd group with sgid bit
set.
Before throwing out kcheckpass, it worked.
After, kscreenlocker_greet should have sgid to successfully unlock session but
it breaks keyboard layouts shown.
