I was wrong, there is a ppa
(https://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/kubuntu_updates?dist=bionic) and new version
of kdeconnect (1.3.3) is available since 2018-11-17.
I've tested it and indeed problems solved.

With the official Arch 5.1 build, instead of my clang/ASan build, it hangs for
a few seconds and then segfaults rather than being OOM-killed.
No debug symbols in Arch.
