https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485245

Bug ID: 485245
Summary: Outdated link to binary factory in readme for neochat
Classification: Applications
   Product: NeoChat
   Version: git master
  Platform: macOS (DMG)
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: fe...@posteo.de
  Reporter: a...@popey.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hello!

Looking for the macOS build, as per the Matrix home page. Filed this, as their
site is outdated. https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix.org/issues/2286

Ended up on the official gitlab instance for neochat, and the README here also
links to binary factory, which no longer exists.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Visit https://invent.kde.org/network/neochat
2. Observe text "These can be downloaded from the binary factory" which is a
link to https://binary-factory.kde.org/ which no longer exists

OBSERVED RESULT

Broken link to binary factory

EXPECTED RESULT

A link to download the Mac app or a link to a site containing the download.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Not applicable - website content.

Good day! I have experienced this issue on Kubuntu (KDE 5.24.4) multiple times.
I filed a bug in launchpad which collected a slew of debug information, which
may or may not be helpful.

[plasmashell] [Bug 447845] New: Under Wayland, web apps have incorrect icon

2022-01-02 Thread Alan Pope
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447845

Bug ID: 447845
Summary: Under Wayland, web apps have incorrect icon
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.23.4
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@popey.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 145057
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=145057=edit
screenshot showing incorrect icon

SUMMARY

"Web apps" in this context are shortcuts to websites, created as desktop files
in .local/share/applications by the web browser. These are created to enable
"alt-tabbing" between web sites, and having icons in the "Icons-Only Task
Manager" to make access to those sites quick and easy. I'm using Microsoft Edge
as the browser, and what I explained below works on X11, but not on Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install / Open Microsoft Edge
2. Visit a website that has an icon such as Tweetdeck or BBC news (site
selection doesn't really matter, but needs a favicon)
3. In Edge click Kebab -> Apps -> Install this site as an app
4. Enter a description, then click "Install" button

OBSERVED RESULT under WAYLAND

Under wayland - not working :
- A window opens, detached from the browser, with the website chosen inside it.
- ALT-TAB shows the 'favicon' for the site in the switcher
- The Icons-Only Task Manager does _not_ show the right icon. Instead, you see
a second icon for the browser.

In the attached screenshot, you'll see bottom left, that I am hovering over the
second Microsoft Edge icon, which should be a Tweetdeck icon, and from the
preview you can (just about) see the web content is the Tweetdeck site.

EXPECTED RESULT under X11

Under X11 - working :
- A window opens, detached from the browser, with the website chosen inside it.
- ALT-TAB shows the 'favicon' for the site in the switcher
- The Icons-Only Task Manager shows the correct icon for the additional
application.

[neon] [Bug 415904] New: kdenlive removable-media in accessible

2020-01-05 Thread Alan Pope
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415904

Bug ID: 415904
   Summary: kdenlive removable-media in accessible
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Snaps
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@popey.com
CC: neon-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Users who store media on removable mounted media are unable to access the media
when using the snap.

The snap of kdenlive doesn't specify the `removable-media` interface in the
list of plugs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. snap install kdenlive
2. snap connections kdenlive

OBSERVED RESULT

Observe lack of `removable-media`

EXPECTED RESULT

`removable-media` should be listed so users can connect it and see the files on
their USB sticks or network mounted media in Kdenlive.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 19.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This should be as simple as adding `removable-media` to the list of plugs for
the kdenlive command in the `apps` stanza.

This looks like a bug in snapd, not the KDE snap itself. The quick workaround
is `snap remove kcalc && snap install kcalc` which will re-instate the
connection between the kcalc snap and the kde frameworks snap (where libqtcore
and friends _really_ live). Sorry about this. The bug is being worked on -

[Spectacle] [Bug 401647] New: Launching twice makes it hard to exit

2018-12-02 Thread Alan Pope
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401647

Bug ID: 401647
Summary: Launching twice makes it hard to exit
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: 18.08.3
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: m...@baloneygeek.com
  Reporter: a...@popey.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I often take screenshots of a region with Shift-PrtSc. Usually it works fine.
Thanks, I love Spectacle.

However, it seems to get wedged if I launch it twice. I realise I probably
shouldn't do this, but sometimes it takes a second or two for the dialog to
appear, and I don't know if I have pressed Shift-PrtSc correctly, so press
again. I end up in a situation where I can't exit nor take screenshots. Like
the two screenshot tools are fighting for ownership of my keypresses. I have to
drop to a tty and kill the spectacle process to get control of the desktop
back.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Ensure Shift-PrtSc is bound to launching Spectacle and taking a region
screenshot
2. Press Shift-PrtSc twice
3. Press Escape, or select an are and press enter

OBSERVED RESULT

No screenshots are taken
It's not possible to exit Spectacle

EXPECTED RESULT

Either:

One instance of spectacle runs and prevents me launching a second screenshot.
or
Two instances launch enabling me to take a screenshot of the spectacle process,
where keypresses go to the most recent spectacle instance.

I received an SMS on my phone and it shows an icon in the notification. Is that
sufficient? or is there a better test case?

The smallest file I have on my phone is ~180KB and that failed immediately I
tried to send, but as Federico says, I get a constant bouncer in the
notification on my PC that it's sending but it isn't.

Is there a debug log, or can I run kdeconnect in some verbose state in the
terminal to get more info?

1.3.0-0neon+16.04+xenial+build11.

I tried using KDE Connect beta from Google Play and couldn't send any files.
They always failed. Sometimes after a delay.

I opted out of the beta programme on Google Play and then uninstalled and
reinstalled the app and found I still couldn't send files. Now it fails
immediately. I tried restarting the KDE Connect app on my phone.

I also tried un-pairing and re-pairing the device with the laptop. it still
fails immediately.

Running KDE neon LTS User Edition 5.12 on a ThinkPad T450 (which has a touchpad
and TrackPoint pointing device).

I never use the trackpad so wish to disable it. In settings -> Input Devices ->
Touchpad -> Enable/Disable Touchpad, I have ticked "Disable touchpad when mouse
is plugged in" and removed all the ignore devices (including the "TPPS/2 IBM
TrackPoint").

This works, disabling the touchpad. However if I suspend the laptop and wake it
up again, the touchpad gets re-enabled.

It seems to be impossible to re-disable the touchpad unless I logout or reboot.

Screenshot of installer crash

I tried to install KDE Neon on a ThinkPad T450 while I had no internet
connection. The install failed at the very end, unable to install the grub efi
package. I was doing this on a plane at 3 ft, so there was no opportunity
to get online.

The error I got was "The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into
/target/. Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot.'.

(see attached screenshot)

It's right too, I was left with an un-bootable system :)

I attempted this multiple times and the same error occurred.

Once I got an internet connection, I ran the installer again on the same
machine from the same media, and it worked fine.

This is likely because a package hasn't been staged on the ISO, so requires a
net connection to install.

--- Comment #3 from Alan Pope <a...@popey.com> ---
Hi,

I'm sorry for filing a useless bug.

However, don't assume everyone saw your announcement - I didn't. I found the
app via a post on Google plus which made no mention.

https://plus.google.com/u/0/109002795119670287274/posts/9iBDVJ7TPfr

I searched for it in the play store (because there was no link in the above
post). I found it here, and installed on my device:-

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kde.marble.maps

Note, there's no mention there either. This was the first time I'd heard of
Marble (that I recall).

You may want to update the Play store description. I imagine most Play store
users aren't going to sign up to the KDE bug tracker to have this super fun
interaction, but will more likely just stab the one star review (as they often
do :( ).

I will of course keep it installed and keep an eye out for updates.

Thanks for the super fast reply!

Cheers,
Al.

screenshot from marble

The maps appear to be missing roads in marble compared to other maps like
openstreetmap.

See attached screenshots. One is from the latest version of Marble from the
android play store. The other is from browsing the openstreetmap website. Both
show the same location, Mytchett in Surrey, UK (GU16 6DX is a good search
criteria).

I would expect those roads to appear as they're not new, and are well
populated.
