[kmail2] [Bug 376565] Automatic spell checking is not working
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376565 --- Comment #10 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- (In reply to Laurent Montel from comment #7) > you report as it's not a specific kmail bug > => please reassign to Qt or kf5 Hi Laurent I'm having a hard time to find any of above in the product drop down list of Bugzilla. Guess those just do not exist. I could reassign to frameworks-ktextedit but not sure if that is any better? Would not want to cause noise elsewhere if this might actually be fixed in Qt upstream. Suggestions? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Perhaps it got fixed in Qt 5.10 ? Interesting. This would be very good news as the bug had spellchecking unusable for more than 2 years now. I'll try to get my hands on a Kate build with Qt 5.10 Or if someone else has then please confirm the fix. Thanks Bogdan -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kinfocenter] [Bug 387106] Show KDE-Applications version in 'About System'
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387106 --- Comment #2 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- Hi > If you need the Dolphin version, use the "About Dolphin" item there. This is not about getting the Dolphin Version! or any other KDE application's version but about showing all system relevant versions in one place: Qt, Plasma, KDE Frameworks, ... KDE Applications Dolphin was a suggestion from where to retrieve the information for 'KDE Applications' as it is the most common representative and should be always installed. > With the current trend of per-application flatpaks, snaps, or appimages, the > variety in installed versions will increase. Very much aware of that as already mentioned. However, major distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSuse, ...) that still comprise the big share in userbase do keep the 'KDE Applications' at one common version and advertise that as I showed with the link to the Kubuntu release announcements. So the solution is intended for those distributions. > Distributions that enforce a single version on all applications could just > patch that version into the KInfoCenter sources, but Plasma developers will > not do it. Fair enough and you have a point there that it is not Plasma's duty to add that info but the distributions should add it if they think the 'KDE Applications' they ship are homogeneous. I guess I'll take this suggestion to the distributions' trackers instead. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kinfocenter] [Bug 387106] New: Show KDE-Applications version in 'About System'
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387106 Bug ID: 387106 Summary: Show KDE-Applications version in 'About System' Product: kinfocenter Version: 5.11.3 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: InfoSummary Assignee: hubn...@gmail.com Reporter: bogdan.miha...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 108962 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=108962=edit Screenshot of current About System The 'about system' view in Kinfocenter shows a nice summary of KDE related software versions installed on the system. However, what is missing is the version of KDE-Applications, see the screenshot. Nowadays, distribution updates and releases always advertise the version of KDE Applications they ship with, e.g. https://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-applications-17.08.0.php It would be great for a user to see what they have installed on their system from that common Kinfocenter. So they can see that the Ubuntu update comes with KDE-Applications version X as advertised. I know it is not a trivial task to retrieve the information as KDE Applications can be installed in different versions (see older duplicate bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364085 ) but most users rely on their distribution packages and as such are consistent on the versions of KDE Applications installed. This especially as KDE tries to advertise and release all relevant apps under one umbrella version (see above release announcement). So by e.g. taking the version of Dolphin (probably the most common app in KDE Applications) one could display the version of KDE Applications in Kinfocenter. This is about solving the most common use case of distribution users and ignoring the versions inconsistency for people who install applications across different versions. Note that a similar "hack" is done for the Plasma version display in Kinfocenter (see https://github.com/KDE/kinfocenter/blob/653900d27bb6102d43a0ef8868a5246aacc4f86c/Modules/about-distro/src/Module.cpp#L250 ) that can also come with mixed applet versions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[neon] [Bug 378368] Kmail/Kontact crash due to missing symbol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378368 --- Comment #6 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- OK, managed to get KMail + imap working again by downgrading all of KDE PIM to a previous known good version. However, that meant downgrading a whooping amount of 198 packages to a mix of different previous versions! This might or might not work on someone else's system. It might just put your system in a broken package state that needs manual fixing afterwards. If someone still wants to try the downgrading PIM hack please comment and I can provide the package list here. However, the better way to deal with this is to have someone from Neon fix the latest KDE PIM packaging to not have the missing symbols anymore. Not sure though how long that takes. I will wait with any system upgrades for a while to not break mail+calendar again. Bye Bogdan -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 378368] Kmail/Kontact crash due to missing symbol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378368 --- Comment #5 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- Seems that the downgrade workaround mentioned in the previous post is enough to make Kmail start without crashing but there are still missing symbols in other PIM libraries which means KMail is unusable :(. In particular Imap seems to not work anymore due to this /usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/akonadi_imap_resource: undefined symbol: _ZN13MailTransport10ServerTest8finishedERK5QListIiE /usr/bin/akonadi_maildispatcher_agent: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/akonadi_maildispatcher_agent: undefined symbol: _ZTIN13MailTransport22SentBehaviourAttributeE Trying to downgrade the libkf5mailtransport5 package in the hope to fix the above leads to a dpkg dependency blocker - not possible. So currently Imap is non-functional in Kmail - no emails again :(. I'll see how to downgrade the whole KDE PIM to the last known usable version but this means downgrading 40+ packages, which will be a challenge for the package manager. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 378368] Kmail/Kontact crash due to missing symbol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378368 --- Comment #4 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- @idoitprone I can confirm the new woes after updating today. Kmail/Kontact crashes again on startup due to a missing symbol. Did some investigation on the new missing symbols and here is how to fix those temporarily by downgrading packages. kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkmailprivate.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN10MailCommon24FavoriteCollectionWidget19prefereCreateNewTabEb can be fixed by downgrading libkf5mailcommon5 to sudo apt install libkf5mailcommon5=4:16.12.3+p16.04+git20170310.0437-0 then one will run into another missing symbol: kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkmailprivate.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN4KPIM15ProgressManager18createProgressItemEPNS_12ProgressItemERKN7Akonadi13AgentInstanceERK7QStringS9_S9_bNS1_12CryptoStatusE can be fixed by downgrading libkf5libkdepim5 to sudo apt install libkf5libkdepim5=4:16.12.3+p16.04+git20170310.0145-0 then one will run into another missing symbol: kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkmailprivate.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN9PimCommon4Util12isImapFolderERKN7Akonadi10CollectionERb can be fixed by downgrading libkf5pimcommon5 to sudo apt install libkf5pimcommon5=4:16.12.3+p16.04+git20170310.0207-0 and now finally the hunt ends and Kmail starts again without crashing. It seems though that the missing symbol from my initial post #1 is fixed but now we got 3 new missing ones instead. Guess there is some refactoring going on in KDEPIM and Neon builds do not manage to build from the right versions of the libraries so that symbols are missing each time. As hunting those down manually and downgrading libraries without version conflicts and blockers is getting tedious and might not work with next upgrade I highly recommend to not upgrade any KDEPIM related libraries until this gets to a stable state. Otherwise KMail and others will be non-functional with the next upgrade and who knows how long it takes for it to get fixed. Not having emails and calendar for weeks doesn't seem tempting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 378368] Kmail/Kontact crash due to missing symbol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378368 Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|crash |grave --- Comment #2 from Bogdan Mihaila <bogdan.miha...@gmx.de> --- Ok, living without emails for a couple of days becomes difficult. Tried some hacks and fixes and got a temporary workaround. The missing symbol (demangled) is KMime::Types::Mailbox::prettyAddress() from the library libkf5mime5. From the apt update log it seems that one was updated along with libkf5messagecore5 but to a much more recent version. So downgrading that library to before the update seems to fix things. In my case it was the version 16.12.3+p16.04+git20170309.0732-0 so downgrading can be done by e.g. sudo apt install libkf5mime5=16.12.3+p16.04+git20170309.0732-0 Starting kmail/kontact after that will not result in an immediate crash at startup anymore. However, this is just a temporary workaround. Still hoping for the right package update to fix this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[akregator] [Bug 375118] New: Opens article in external browser if when 'load full website' option set

This behavior/bug seems to have been introduced in latest browser component related changes as the package from Ubuntu Yaketty (16.04.3-0ubuntu2) does not have the bug. Expected behavior is the old one, i.e. show the full website in the internal preview browser and do not open it in the external browser. Currently it is impossible to have that option "load full website" set as just walking through the list of articles (with e.g. left, right arrow keys) opens up a new tab in the external browser. Also the bug seems to be related to the "Configure Internal Browser Component" settings because whatever is chosen in the "Left Mouse Click" Drop down box as an action, i.e. "Open in Tab/Bakground Tab/External Browser" will be executed when navigating/reading articles in a feed. Above option though is only meant (and was used like that before) when clicking links in the preview browser. The above behavior is not triggered for feeds that do not have "Load the full website when reading articles" option set. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
