[Merkuro] [Bug 473854] New: KDE Invent - the Merkuro description is confusing

2023-08-28 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473854

Bug ID: 473854
Summary: KDE Invent - the Merkuro description is confusing
Classification: Applications
   Product: Merkuro
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: claudio.cam...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Looking at the KDE Invent entry for the PIM application Merkuro, the current
description in the GitLab instance is confusing.

At the top of the section, a statement is made that, Merkuro is a calendar
application.

Further down the entry in the README, a statement is made that, Merkuro is an
application suite handling emails, calendars, contacts, and tasks -- in other
words a PIM application.

It's not clear if, Merkuro will be replacing Kontact as the KDE Plasma PIM
application or, if Merkuro will be offered as a simplified PIM application for
users who do not need the functionality offered by Kontact.

Seems to have been resolved by one of the openSUSE patches offered after the
22nd of July 2022.

Possible candidate:
Security update for libxml2 - CVE-2022-29824: Fixed integer overflow that could
have led to an out-of-bounds write in buf.c (xmlBuf*) and
 tree.c (xmlBuffer*) (bsc#1199132).

Also a possible candidate, despite a direct association with KWalletManager:
Security update for pcre2 – CVE-2022-1587: Fixed out-of-bounds read due to bug
in recursions (bsc#1199235).

plasmashell (5.24.4) using Qt 5.15.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Same as before - logging in - black screen - Monitor displayed "No signal" and
dropped into standby mode. Moving the mouse had no effect.
Powered the screen off and then on - the Plasma Session then appeared.

Kernel Patch doesn't seem to have had a significant effect on the behaviour.

[kwalletmanager] [Bug 457011] New: Folder Passwords: content inspection triggers "Save changes" despite no changes

2022-07-22 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457011

Bug ID: 457011
Summary: Folder Passwords: content inspection triggers "Save
changes" despite no changes
   Product: kwalletmanager
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: va...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After inspection of Password text content, "Save changes" is triggered when
text is marked by the mouse and then copied.

"Pairs" (Key and content) doesn't exhibit this behaviour.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the KWallet Manager.
2. Select the Folder "Passwords" and then the sub-folder "Passwords" (text).
3. Select a Password and then display the content.
4. Select some text and then copy it to the KDE Paste Buffer.
5. Select another Password.

OBSERVED RESULT
The "Save changes" window appears.

EXPECTED RESULT
There were no changes made (only content was copied) and therefore there's no
need to save any changes which were not made.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

2022-07-20 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456941

Bug ID: 456941
Summary: Selecting a Color Profile for a Device not immediately
activated
   Product: colord-kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Systems Settings Module (KCM)
  Assignee: dantt...@gmail.com
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
colord-kde package version 0.5.0

Assigning a Color Profile to a Display Device needs that, one has to logout and
login again twice, before the desired profile can be correctly assigned to the
Display.

The desired Color Profile is located in '/usr/local/share/color/icc/' -
The KCM module (correctly?) places a copy of the desired profile in
'~/.local/share/icc/' -

The News Feed has to have been closed - from display in a new Akregator tab.
If it's open in a new Akregator tab, the segmentation fault doesn't occur.

If another Planet openSUSE article is opened and the closed - for example
"Interview auf gnulinux.ch" - the segmentation fault also occurs . . .

[Akonadi] [Bug 433069] New: Folder name doesn't appear on first opening of the Archive Agent set-up

2021-02-17 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433069

Bug ID: 433069
Summary: Folder name doesn't appear on first opening of the
Archive Agent set-up
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.14.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Archive Mail Agent
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When setting up the KMail folders to be archived, when the Archive Mail Agent
is first opened, the folders being archived are not displayed.
 * Closing the Agent and then starting it again displays the folders currently
   being archived.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. From within KMail, open the Archive Agent set-up.
2. Close the Archive Agent set-up window.
3. Re-open the Archive Agent set-up.

OBSERVED RESULT
On first opening the Archive Agent set-up, the names of the folders currently
being archived are not displayed.
Close and then re-open the Archive Agent set-up – the names of the folders
currently being archived are displayed.

EXPECTED RESULT
When the Archive Agent set-up is opened, the names of the folders currently
being archived should be displayed – on the first time – not on subsequent
times.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.2
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.71.0

Kernel Version: 5.3.18-lp152.63-default
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 5 3400G with Radeon Vega Graphics
Memory: 13,6 GiB

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It's been this way for quite a while now – only recently realised that, closing
and then re-opening the Archive Agent set-up causes the Folders currently being
archived to be displayed …

As of 2021-02-03, having setup the Audio to use both the Analogue and HDMI
outputs in parallel and, changed the Monitor settings to no longer
automatically choose which Input - HDMI-1, HDMI-2, Display Port - shall be used
- it's now set to use the HDMI-1 input only -
 * The issue has disappeared . . .

Whether or not, a recent or, not so recent, patch played a role in the
behaviour change, is something I can not prove . . .

My wish to apologise - the crashes I've recently reported due a segmentation
fault and an abort, do not seem to be related to this issue.
 Bug Reports 425936 & 426863.

Maybe my memory is failing - old age - really - born 1949 . . .

[k3b] [Bug 341892] Crash when trying to add files to multisession DVD

Forgot to add my usual crash header:

K3b (k3b), signal: Segmentation fault - K3b::DataItem::isFromOldSession()

-

Let's be honest with each other - segmentation faults do not happen at all if
the pointers in the code never point to memory regions which either do not
exist or, are not allowed to be written to by the executing process . . .

New crash information added by DrKonqi

k3b (20.04.2) using Qt 5.12.7

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Testing as requested in the Bug Report - new fresh DVD-RW - wrote some files to
it - opened the session again and, attempted to overwrite one of the files on
the DVD-RW.

Differences to the report made in 2016 – now using new hardware (not
surprising) . . .

[Akonadi] [Bug 425786] akonadi_archivemail_agent (akonadi_archivemail_agent), signal: Segmentation fault - Akonadi::EntityTreeModel::modelIndexForCollection (model=, collection=...)

2020-09-01 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425786

(In reply to Ahmad Samir from comment #4)
> The backtraces are not all the identical,

Hardly surprising:
 * The first Segmentation Fault occurred when adding the first periodic
Archive.
 * The second when the second periodic Archive.
 * The third when an automatic Archive began running for the first time.
 * The fourth when I took a look at the settings.

A segmentation fault or access violation is a fault, or failure condition,
raised by hardware with memory protection, notifying an operating system (OS)
that, the software has attempted to access a restricted area of memory (a
memory access violation).

[kmail2] [Bug 425650] New: Incoming Mail hangs in Akonadi with no RID

2020-08-21 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425650

Bug ID: 425650
Summary: Incoming Mail hangs in Akonadi with no RID
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.14.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Mail is received via POP3 but, the incoming Mail is not being written to the
'~.local/share/' Akonadi Maildir Resource - it hangs in Akonadi without a RID.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Pull Mail from the POP3 server.
2. Check with "akonadictl fsck 2>&1| grep -iE 'found|no RID'"
3. Compare the count of Mail in the KMail Folders against count of files in the
   Akonadi Maildir Resource disk directory.

OBSERVED RESULT
 * The KMail Standard user's Inbox has 5 Mails.
The Resource inbox "cur" directory has 4 files - none in "new".
 * A second POP3 resource has 10 Mails in the KMail Inbox folder.
Only 4 files are in the Maildir Resource "cur" directory - none in "new".

EXPECTED RESULT
All incoming Mail is written to the Maildir Resource disk directories.

2020-06-23T10:13:18+00:00 This week I implemented views, drag and drop of
storyboard items in the central view and made some small changes. I also ran
unit-tests, checked for memory leaks and debugged code, but unfortunately we
couldn’t get it tested by users as we got some crashes. There are three
views to customize what part of the storyboard item you see. Namely they are
Thumbnail only, Comments only and Both. This was easy to implement as we only
had to make changes to delegate and view class to draw the right parts based on
the chosen view.

The RSS Feed <https://planet.kde.org/rss20.xml> now seems to be OK.
 * The XML parsing error at line 45 no longer occurs.

On the Web page however, the RSS Feed atom, top right, is still broken.

I'll raise a new Bug Report.

[plasmashell] [Bug 410067] New: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault at login

2019-07-21 Thread Don Curtis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410067

Bug ID: 410067
Summary: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault at
login
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.12.8
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-crash
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugrprt21...@online.de
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 121660
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=121660=edit
Crash information from DrKonqi

SUMMARY
For a set of specific users, at login, plasmashell intermittently crashes.

Only those users with the following KDE Plasma environment are effected:
 * Desktop background is a single colour - grey.
All users have the Oxygen style and icons; they all have the Crystal White
cursor.
Users with a photograph as the Desktop background do not suffer the crash.

Test users with Breeze style and icons and, the default openSUSE Desktop
background also, do not suffer the crash.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Login

OBSERVED RESULT
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/bin/plasmashell from kdeinit
KCrash: Application 'plasmashell' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit

Missing separate debuginfo for /usr/lib64/libQt5Script.so.5

EXPECTED RESULT
No crash.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Leap 15.1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.9.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Finally, DrKonqi popped up after the crash.
Trying to add the debug packages via DrKonqi didn't work - root password
couldn't be decoded . . .
Added the debug packages by using the output of
"gdb /usr/bin/plasmashell ".
DrKonqi still couldn't find enough symbols for a useful crash dump.
Maybe I'll have better luck next time.
