Bug ID: 426394
Summary: The editing timeline can be ruined by dragging a video
and holding the lower part of the timeline
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 20.08.0
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

The glitch being executed.

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Drag a video by holding the click on it
2. Hold it above the lower part of the editing timeline

OBSERVED RESULT
It softlocks Kdenlive because now you can't see the timeline to edit your
video.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expected to only move videos sideways in the timeline.

I've noticed that the pasting isn't random like i've thought, it's pasted on
where the mouse cursor is located on the timeline.

By "changing the video's order" i was referring to the problem it causes.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Drag a video from your desktop to Kdenlive's editing timeline with a
different video profile (Resolution and framerate)
2. Do any simple editing
3. Accept Kdenlive's message to change the profile to adapt to the video you're
now editing

OBSERVED RESULT
The video's order changes completely and you lose hours of editing if you don't
click on the message before dragging the video to the timeline

EXPECTED RESULT

SUMMARY
When pasting a clip you copied in the editing timeline, it will be placed in
random places, instead of always in the white space of the "timeline needle"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy a clip in the timeline
2. Paste it somewhere

OBSERVED RESULT
The first frame of the video doesn't appear in the needle's white space most of
the times, and it doesn't appear at all when you are trying to paste it over a
video

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to place exactly where the needle's white space is in order to have
frame perfect accuracy, and being able to cut clips if the needle is above them

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have three or more clips in the editing timeline
2. Hold Ctrl and try to click on them in order to rearrange them

OBSERVED RESULT
You can't do that, making you resort to deleting the ones you don't want to
rearrange one by one, then holding "Ctrl + A" then "Ctrl + C", bringing back
the ones you didn't want to rearrange by undoing the changes, then finally
"Ctrl + V"

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to select and rearrange the videos i want in the editing timeline
without resorting to that complicated trick

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Edit the video's speed (In my case was 50%)
2. Copy the video
3. Paste the video somewhere

OBSERVED RESULT
It pastes a single frame of the video i wanted to paste, and the problem is
related to the speed effect being attached to the video, because when i put
back on 100% speed, i was able to copy and paste normally.

EXPECTED RESULT
Paste a perfect duplicate of the video that i've copied, with all the effects
i've attached to it.
