Some more stuff that seems related to the reported bug.
I want to display a sequence of images over a video background. I usually
alternate the images in 2 tracks above the video, with the first and last
images

I tried again with a PNG color clip instead of the built-in type. This did the
same. I then rendered a video clip with the same color and inserted it into the
project. This did not exhibit the effect.
