[dolphin] [Bug 417010] Dolphin crashes on startup with/after black desktop OpenSuse 15.1

2020-03-09 Thread Gregg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417010

That specific failure of Dolphin has been very rare, the desktop being black
happens every once in a while. Have kept NVidia drivers resonably up to date,
maybe monthly.

New crash information added by DrKonqi

dolphin (17.04.2) using Qt 5.6.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Had removed and reinstalled nvidia drivers since desktop session was failing
with sddm-greeter not starting. This is the first time dolphin had started
since the update to kernel 4.4.85 and then 4.4.87 in opensuse 42.3

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374023

Bug ID: 374023
Summary: KDE session crashes on startup, 4.8.14, nvidia driver
with 7600gs card
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mnpmo...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kwin_x11 (5.8.4)

Qt Version: 5.7.0
Frameworks Version: 5.29.0
Operating System: Linux 4.8.14-1-default i686
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed: booted to level 3, init 5,
chose a KDE plasma failsafe session, logged in. Screen went dark and then
backlit (not so dark) I think. Previous attempts at Plasma 5 sessions noted
crash putting up welcome screen and then crash starting plasma session. Could
not find core dump.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

-- Backtrace:
Application: KWin (kwin_x11), signal: Aborted
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".
