That explains why the other day digikam had to rescan the whole library when
connectivity was lost.
Anyway, I deleted all the mounthpaths except the one I am actively using now,

No, the filter seems to work fine. Only words that contain that string ("Cuba"
in the example) are displayed. Also tags that are nested inside, which I think

I believe we are not talking about the same thing. The node does not collapse

I just realized that the icon theme loads correctly when the Tree View Icon
Size is set to 32, 48 or 64, but not 16 or 22. Maybe the icon theme does not
