[Akonadi] [Bug 399811] imap (dovecot) is no longer accessible

2023-02-18 Thread Ivan S. J.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399811

I don't have the laptop with the problem anymore, so I cannot recreate the
problem. So closing this case is fine.

I did find the lack of debugging information in kmail frustrating. All I could
get out of the logs was "it doesn't work but I won't tell you why or any
diagnostics codes or messages"

[kmail2] [Bug 448340] New: Contents of mime parts wrapped inside multipart/related are not shown

2022-01-12 Thread Ivan S. J.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448340

Bug ID: 448340
Summary: Contents of mime parts wrapped inside
multipart/related are not shown
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.14.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: isj-bugzi...@i1.dk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Attached images in emails from applemail don't always show up - neither as
inline images nor as attachments. The example email structure below is also
initially shown as plain text. When toggling folder->message default format ->
"prefer html to plaint text" to plain text and then back, the attached image
and html payload is shown.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Receive email from applemail with attached image.
2. Navigate to that email.

OBSERVED RESULT
The text/plain option is shown regardless of the preference for HTML. The
attachment is not shown nor indicated.
Navigating to another email and back again resets to the view to just showing
the text/plain part (and no attachment).
The attachment is not indicated in the message list with a paper clip either.

EXPECTED RESULT
text/html potion should be shown. Attached image should be shown inline or as
attachment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think the tricky bit is that the text/html portion is wrapped in a
multipart/related section

Example message structure in apple-email:

[kwin] [Bug 401711] New: motif/nedit: open file -> new window is not activated

2018-12-03 Thread Ivan S . J .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401711

Bug ID: 401711
Summary: motif/nedit: open file -> new window is not activated
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.12.6
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: isj-bugzi...@i1.dk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When opening a file in a new window in Nedit the new window is not activated

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install/build Nedit 5.7
2. Start Nedit
3. Disable tabbed editing (Preferences -> Default preferences -> Tabbed editing
-> Disable "Open file in New tab")
4. Open "Open file" dialog (ctrl-O)
5. Select any file to open
6. [enter]

Other Motif applications that open new windows based on a Open File dialog may
exhibit the same problem.

OBSERVED RESULT
The Open File dialog disappears, the original nedit window is activated, and
the window with the new file is not activated or brought to top. Sometimes it
is even hidden behind other windows.

EXPECTED RESULT
The new editing window should be activated and brought to top.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OpenSUSE Leap 15.0
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.6 ?
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.45.0
Qt Version: 5.9.4

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When pressing [enter] in file dialog Nedit unmaps the file dialog and then
creates a new window. I suspect that kwin tries to activate the original edit
window and cannot handle that a new window (even from the same application) is
created+mapped while doing that. Changing "focus stealing prevention" to "none"
has no effect.

This problem did not exist with kwin-4.11.2

[Akonadi] [Bug 399811] imap (dovecot) is no longer accessible

2018-12-02 Thread Ivan S . J .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399811

I upgraded a machine to Opensue leap 15.0 with kmail 5.7.3 (rpm:
kmail-17.12.3-lp150.1.2.x86_64).
I backed up a user account. Then deleted the user and created the user again. I
then restored the .config directory and only that.
Result: kmail invoked kwallet, which I had to create anew (I chose traditional
blowfish), and kmail could access the IMAP server without any noticeable
problems.

So whatever prevents my laptop-kmail from using imap is probably not something
in .config

[Akonadi] [Bug 399811] imap (dovecot) is no longer accessible

2018-10-16 Thread Ivan S . J .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399811

I tried installing Opensuse tumbleweed in a virtual machine. It has
kmail-18.08.1. It works.
I then tried installing Opensuse 15.0 in a virtual machine. It has
kmail-17.12.3. That surprisingly worked. This is the same version as I have on
my laptop where it doesn't work. I'm fairly sure the last time kmail worked on
my laptop it was kmail-4.14.10 (opensuse 42.2).

So I suspect it is something in the configuration or cache files that causes
akonadi-imap to malfunction. Which configuration files might that be? Any
directions on how to obtain useful debug log?

@Mara: Is there any way for you to install 18.08.1/debian in a virtual machine
(or 100% clean user account) and check if that works? (so we can
determine if we have the same problem).

[elisa] [Bug 388839] New: Feature request: Add an actual configuration utility to elisa

2018-01-11 Thread Ivan S
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388839

Bug ID: 388839
Summary: Feature request: Add an actual configuration utility
to elisa
   Product: elisa
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: matthieu_gall...@yahoo.fr
  Reporter: northivanas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

There does not seem to be a configuration utility for Elisa. When opening
Elisa's configuration, I just get "a configuration utility for Elisa music
player local files indexer" as a heading. There should at least be a way to
configure what is shown by Elisa there.

[ksmserver] [Bug 388838] New: Under wayland, logout dialog appears as a window

2018-01-11 Thread Ivan S
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388838

Bug ID: 388838
Summary: Under wayland, logout dialog appears as a window
   Product: ksmserver

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ui
  Assignee: l.lu...@kde.org
  Reporter: northivanas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Using X11, the logout greeter appears as it should: darkens and overlays the
screen.
Using Wayland, the logout greeter appears as a large window titled
ksmserver-logout-greeter whose background is completely black. Overlays are
definitely possible with kwin-wayland, so why this behavior?

When using Breeze-Dark on Discover, the window title text color does not

Not sure if this is a memory leak though. It may just be Plasma trying to load
the entirety of the OpenDesktop database into RAM - databases like that can be
as big as 1tb. Discover does not seem to work under valgrind, which makes leak
detection hard.

Run in the command prompt:
plasma-discover >> discover_out.txt
and post the output. I can't seem to replicate this same bug.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 387543] Vault randomly disables

> Where have you placed the vault path and the mount path?

Defaults: ~/Vaults/crypthome, ~/.vaults/crypthome.enc
By the way, it seems this isn't just a problem with large vaults, on a new
account the same thing occurred with the first vault I created.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 387543] New: Vault randomly disables

2017-12-02 Thread Ivan S
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387543

Bug ID: 387543
   Summary: Vault randomly disables
   Product: Plasma Vault
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ivan.cu...@kde.org
  Reporter: northivanas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I put several hundred gigabytes of files into a cryfs vault and a few hours
later the vault no longer appeared in the Vaults applet.

I checked ~/.config/plasmavaultrc and it listed the vault as
"[path-to-vault-redacted]=false"

Is this a bug, or is there some reason why large vaults are auto-disabled?

--- Comment #5 from Ivan S. J. <isj-bugzi...@i1.dk> ---
Tested with kmail2 14.14.10

Date in email: Date: Sat, 25 Jun 2005 01:45:33 +-100

Date in email: Date: Tue, 06 May 2014 10:02:00 +

So the first (+-100) is still Unknown. The second (+) is now shown with
correct timestamp. And the third (+0200 (CEST)) is now shown as unknown in both
message list and message.
