The version available from that link is Qt4-based. The port was merged after
the freeze of KDE Applications 16.08.

Currently TCPSlaveBase::connectToHost contains:

On the other side, the main consumers seems to be  KIO::buildErrorString which
adds additional text, for example:

Interesting enough, the case for ERR_SUPPORTED_ACTION returns directly the
errorText (since the conversion to SVN, 2002).

The question is: should the string returned by connectToHost be changed, or
should buildErrorString be fixed to account for the error message which
contains not only the hostname?

Are you sure that this is the applet from discover and not muon updater (now
extragear)? The only occurrences of the other string ("Gerenciador de
atualizações") are in

- messages/extragear-sysadmin/muon-updater.po

It seems I can't find anywhere the other strings that shown as translated.

There are no "others". You only discussed this on IRC, *I* raised issues on the
way this was solved, and I'm not the KDE Community. I also clearly said to

Consistently reproduced on a fresh profile, but I was not precise: it is:
Go to "File" menu, "Server List", select a server and expand it (for example,
expand "Freenode"), then select one of the servers ("chat.freenode.net:8001",
not sure it's the upstream default or Fedora's one), and then  press "Edit".

There is another bug which is triggered by selecting a channel and marking
"Join on Connect". The backtrace is different, but I suspect that the root
cause is the same (still about the updates of the list of the servers); maybe
not, in that case I will file another bug.

This is not a kmail bug: the key X-DocPath is not honored right now.
Maybe src/khelpclient.cpp from kconfigwidgets should be copied here (on

For everyone still reporting the issue: please make sure that you have PIM
components from KDE Applications 16.04 (which has nothing to do with *Ubuntu

Clean the status bar message from the HTML part

The message for the status bar that is returned by the HTML part
is considered rich text as it starts by "", but without real
HTML tags/rich text markers. So clean it before showing it (which
means the removal of the "" prefix).
Thanks Pino for the QTextDocument hint.

Switch to search widget only on search

Do not switch on the search widget when the scope (set of enabled
search plugins) is changed or when something is typed in the search
text box. Only switch when the search button is pushed.

As there are some search providers enabled by default now, the search
button should be enabled by default (unless the user changed the
settings later), so even if the search pane is not visible the
default scenario (type something, push search) should work.

I don't think that the generator script should be responsible for this. The
generator should only generates what it found; the proper cleanup of the

Sorry for the long delay. 
The two man pages have been updated to the real options available for Qt 5 and
(most of) Frameworks 5 applications, so the patch does not apply anymore.
Nevertheless, the issues highlighted (lack of missing dots at the end of
sentences and search for better titles for the man pages) have been addressed
in the last changes in the current master and which will be released as part of
the upcoming Frameworks 5.24.

The sidebar can not be resized, so when the details shown in the sidebar are
too long, the sidebar can use a lot of space. For example, when a symbolic link
is selected and the target file has a really long name/path.
In order to reproduce, create a simple archive tar.something archive (with
symlinks) with the following directories:
mydir/datadir 
Inside datadir, create a file with a really long name, 
Inside mydir, create a symbolic link (the name does not matter) which points to
the file with the really long name.

Open the archive and select the symbolic link. The sidebar will use a lot of
space.

An example when such events can happen is an archive generated by sosreport.

Apparently after the switch to the new plugin model, few formats which are zip
files in disguise, like OpenDocument (tested with odt and ods) and epub can't
be opened anymore. 
The following error is printed on the command line:
ark.kerfuffle: Could not find a plugin to handle '/path/to/the/file'

and the following message is shown inside the informative widget on the top of
the main window:

Ark was not able to open myfilename.ext. No suitable plugin found.
Ark does not seem to support this file type.

Please note that jar files do work. I suspect other formats are affected.

Call kdoctools_create_handbook only for index.docbook

When more documentation files are available in a certain directory,
the assumption is that there should always be an index.docbook which
imports all the other docbook files in the same directory. The call
to kdoctools_create_handbook must be created only for index.docbook;
the macro takes care of the installation of the others docbooks.
This should make kdoctools_install work when there are multiple docbooks
in the same directory.

Which version of cmake? I tested it with 3.5, but it should work with older
versions. The issue with conflicting targets was solved long time ago.

Yes, they can use it. It's just that no one implemented its usage in the
scripts which create tarballs, probably because the feature was not advertised.
I asked around and there is some work in progress, even if it needs some design
decision.

Evince, after uncompressing the gz file (which can't be open directly) behaves
the same, but it uses libspectre like Okular.
gv, which uses ghostscript directly, also shows the document upside-down.
But ps2pdf belongs to ghostscript too, so maybe there is a flag somewhere which
is not used; anyway, it is likely that it could be fixed in libspectre.

Apologize for the long delay. 
I think that what you hit is a problem with the structure of the directories.
You used 
translations//docs/*.docbook 
but it should be
translations//docs//*.docbook 

See the example tests/kdoctools_install-test/ inside the kdoctools source
directory, and/or the comments in the KF5DocToolsMacros.cmake file.

With that structure, it works both when doc translations are "mixed" with
interface translations, and when they are in separate directories (tested back
to 5.16).

The Frameworks version is unofficiale ("frameworks" branch) and that code was
basically not touched. If you have some resources (which I don't right now),
you may want to try the versions (kdelibs4-based) between 0.14.3 and 0.20.2,
were the issue appeared.

Sorry for the long wait. I did not notice this issue when using khelpcenter in

If I understand it correctly, those additional fields are relevant mainly

The first backtraces come from the time of KDE3 times, with references to DCOP.
The newer ones are from kdelibs4 but incomplete and most likely referring to a
different issue (building indexes).
So:
- the NEEDINFO state was open for almost 7 years;
- the initial issue (KDE3) is probably long gone;
- the issue related to indexing may be relevant (still more details would be
needed) but the indexing and search system has been completely changed (from
htdig to xapian) with the changes landing few minutes ago.
For all the reasons above, I'm closing this bug.

I don't understand German but it looks like an issue with flickering. Did you
upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu (or another distribution)? Do you still
see the flickering? It could be an issue with the underlying graphic subsystem.

The "KDE FAQ" manual does not exist anymore, but I don't remember issue with
it,. It looked like a transient issue with a beta version. According #2 it was
solved long time ago, closing.

Fix click event for constant buttons

It looks like the new style of "connect" tries to use the clicked
signal as defined inside the function, which does not trigger
slotClicked(). This change explicitly use the clicked signal from
the (grand)parent class and the expected chain of signal/slots
triggering is restored.

Then your issue could be different: okular-frameworks is unsupported, and it
could suffer from porting errors related to paths.

Please install khelpcenter. Also, the link is correct: there is no Italian
version of picmi documentation unfortunately. One could argue that there should
a redirect, but still the message is correct: "The branch stable5 is not
available for the specified application/language." (picmi, it)
