This feature of hiding a category is available on Quicken. I understand that
KMyMoney doesn't provide or implement everything that Quicken has.

I've attached a link to their page talking about hiding categories for
reference. https://help.quicken.com/m/mobile.action#page/3216261

[kmymoney] [Bug 453991] Blank line in Ledger remains after turning off show group header

2022-05-18 Thread Michael Carpino
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453991

Ignore my "Last year" in the removed portion of the 3rd line. Actually I
should have stated "Previous fiscal year". This remains after turning off along
with Current fiscal year Also it could be that the wording of "Future
transactions" should remain when turning this off depending on the intention of
turning off Show group header between transaction. Ultimately I don't think
there should be a blank line.

   Product: kmymoney
   Version: 5.1.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: bugtracker
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
When there is future transactions in the ledger and you turn off the "Show
group header between transactions" the app leaves a blank line where the
"Future transactions" resided. All other lines are removed such as Next month,
Next week, Last month, Last year, etc.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter transactions in the ledger for the future
2. Turn off headers in the Settings>Configure KMyMoney>Ledger>Display by
unchecking the Show group header between transaction box
3. Observe where the future transactions resided which now contains a blank
line.

EXPECTED RESULT
There shouldn't be a blank line when Show group header between transaction box
is unchecked.

Ok thanks Thomas. I now understand the logic behind the use of the "accept"
button with importing transactions.

In the 6 or so years of using KMM I never noticed nor used the pull-down menu
in the ledger to clear or reconcile a transaction. Now I will!

I'll close this request as I have a solution while editing.

Thanks

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist

 Component: general

  Reporter: mfcarp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Presently when transactions are imported into the ledger KKM provides the
opportunity to accept the transaction which places a "C" in the reconcile
status. However if you choose to edit the transaction first the ability to
accept the transaction goes away. It would be nice to also have the ability to
accept these imported transactions after editing any transaction. This
ability should also be made available if transactions are entered manually.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import transactions into the ledger.
2. View the ability to accept the transaction.
3. Edit the transaction before accepting it.
4. Observe that the accept feature becomes grayed out.

EXPECTED RESULT
Provide the ability to edit then accept imported transactions. Provide the
ability to accept manual transactions before entering them which will
ultimately place a "C" in the reconcile status.

[kmymoney] [Bug 406403] Tags within Split transaction not reporting correctly

2021-08-19 Thread Michael Carpino
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406403

I discovered that the issue with Tags is more than a report problem and it's
likely to be related to split Tags in general.

When there is a split transaction and there is Tags associated with them the
split transactions are reporting wrong when viewing them in the Tags List
within KMM.

The split transactions are properly recorded as a charge in my credit card
account but when I view the split transaction in the Tags List it is showing as
a Deposit which also reduces the balance by this amount.

Consequently the balance figure is reporting incorrectly.

To reproduce
Follow the steps in my post of 2019-04-10 and enter the transaction as a
payment.
Then view the details of the post in the Tags List.

I have tested downloading stock prices using other Linux OS which included
OpenSuse and Ubuntu. Both of these OS performed the updating of stock prices
within KMM as it should. I looked at the trace and it is performed with the use
of TLS v2. Because this is not a KMM bug or problem I felt that it to be
appropriate to close this issue. This appears to be specifcally within how
Fedora handles the connection of TLS v3. I expect someday in the future
Fedora/Redhat will provide a fix to efficient and proper handling of v3.

[kmymoney] [Bug 407494] Stock price updating slow

2019-05-25 Thread Michael Carpino
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407494

What I can share at this point is based on the information I've been able to
obtain thru the use of Wireshark and a Wireshark expert (Chris Greer) that's
been willing to assist me with my issue.

The problem for me seems to start in the communication from the client (my
Computer). It sends out information telling the server that it supports the
different version of Transport Layer Security (TLS). My computer (Fedora OS)
tells Yahoo that it has available versions, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. Yahoo comes
back and tells my computer that it wants to use version 1.3. All of this
happens extremely fast within the initial communication between them. It's
less than a second and it's actually a small portion of a second.

Here's where we think the problem is. Within that same (Hello) exchange when
it tells my computer it wants to use version 1.3 it later says in the same
message to change the cipher spec protocol to v 1.2 and the application data
protocol to v 1.2. Now keep in mind this is all happening within a portion of
a second.

Then for some unknown reason my computer stalls (I believe within the OS) and
it this point we think it's trying to figure out what to do with the
conflicting information. Then at around 48-49 seconds later it sends what it
needs back to Yahoo and boom I get the updated stock price.

That's where things are right now as far as what we know about my issue.

Brendan -- My URL was,
https://finance.yahoo.com/v7/finance/quote?fields=regularMarketPrice=%1

I changed it to your
https://query1.finance.yahoo.com/v7/finance/quote?fields=regularMarketPrice=%1
and it still is slow.

If I use either URL in my web browser with a ticker symbol I get a very quick
similar response.

Jack - If I aim my browser at Yahoo, ie
https://finance.yahoo.com/v7/finance/quote?fields=regularMarketPrice=AXP
I get what I would define as an immediate response. When I do a traceroute in
the terminal to finance.yahoo.com I see a stall right after the 5th gateway. I
didn't actually measure the time but would guess around 10 seconds. Resetting
the router resulted in no change in results.

Thanks for your input Brendan but my situation is something more than a
Verizon/Yahoo issue. I'm still dealing with the 49 seconds per individual
price update with Yahoo before it returns a price according to Wireshark. I
tried the other online stock quote services and none of them work for me as I
gave up after 120 seconds. I'll update the content here when and if I find the
problem.

[kmymoney] [Bug 407494] New: Stock price updating slow

2019-05-13 Thread Michael Carpino
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407494

Bug ID: 407494
   Summary: Stock price updating slow
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: 5.0.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: mfcarp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY When I update stock/mutual fund prices using the online function
within KMM it is taking ~50 seconds per each individual ID. The process is now
taking about 20 minutes to complete which was previously about a 20-second
process. The problem appeared to start when I upgraded my OS to Fedora 30 from
29.

I'm also having a problem with mapping accounts that I feel is related to this
issue. It is taking so long that no accounts are returned to select.
Preventing the ability to map accounts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use Fedora 30 OS
2. Choose the Tools → Update Stock and Currency Prices
3. Press Update All

OBSERVED RESULT Stock price updating taking ~50 seconds per stock/fund

EXPECTED RESULT I have observed previously the ability to update ~20
stocks/funds to update in less than 30 seconds

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I'm not sure if this is an OS or KMM problem but what appreciate some guidance
to what it might be and how to resolve the issue.

I've also tested the issue in KMM AppImage 5.0.4-5824844-x86_64 &

After further looking at this issue I've noticed that the program is
prepopulating the Payer/Receiver field in the ledger with a space when
importing OFX transactions. If you backspace in the Payer field you can then
locate preexisting payers. This prepopulated space is what appears to be
causing the program to not match with an existing payer.

SUMMARY

When I import transactions using OFX some transactions don't match the specific

SUMMARY Recently I reinstalled Linux Manjaro & KMM. Upon doing this I started
having some issues with updating my stock prices. I kept getting the error
message: Unable to update price for AXP (no price or no date) when I tried
using Yahoo. See screenshot #1 from the forum post on the details that I
copied into the Online Quotes build. So then I went into the kmymoneyrc file
and noticed that the information within there isn't the same as I inputted. So
I manually corrected it and saved it as it should be. Then tested my quotes
and everything works as it should. Please refer to my screenshot 2 that shows
my edited Yahoo quote and then also my Yahoo2 quote that shows the difference
of the change that the program is inputting. Basically, it is adding 2
additional "\\" as can be observed by looking within the DateRegex & PriceRegex
lines.

If I switch between these 2 quotes I'll get the error with the Yahoo2 and not
with the Yahoo manually edited version. Somewhere within the code, it's adding
these additional "\\" and if that can be corrected the stock quote updating
should work correctly again.

I tried your recommendation, however, I can't edit the securities based on your
solution. The corruption is related to somehow the securities have been
labeled as a currency that don't exist.

I have attached 3 screenshots to help with possibly identifying the problem.
Screenshot 1 shows some of my securities. Please note Berkshire. Now go to
screenshot 2, Update Stock and Currency Prices, Berkshire's internal ID is
E03. Screenshot 3, Update Stock and Currency prices, there is an ID Label
of USD > E03 source KMyMoney Currency. I don't have a security nor a
currency labeled this in my database. The problem here is when I update prices
it keeps trying to update the 6 currencies in screen 3 labeled "USD > ".

The fee line is available in the register if you perform Buy, Sell, Dividend
transactions. The screenshot that I attached shows I was able to add fees for
a reinvestment dividend previously. If I try to enter a transaction as a
reinvestment dividend by changing the pulldown to Reinvest Dividend the fee
line disappears. What I tried to do in my description dated 2-19-2018 was I
entered the information with it as a dividend and then changed it to a reinvest
dividend and the fee line disappears. Somehow it worked for me previously and
now it doesn't. It's very common for reinvested dividend to have fees
associated with these type of transactions

I believe this is working as designed. Initially, the number field starts out
with 2 digits probably based on the assumption that you'll begin with a single
digit (ie 1). As you enter more digits the No. field grows based on the
actual number of digits that are inputted. I entered 30 digits (I stopped
there) and the field actually grew 30 digits wide.

It appears the issue is related to the calculation within the first column of

[kmymoney] [Bug 395227] Latest KMM Master Version is aborting at 29% of the build

2018-06-10 Thread Michael Carpino

I'm running qt version 5.11.0-1. Let me know if there is anything else. I
updated KMM fine last weekend and then I received probably 200 updates for
various programs including the latest kernel yesterday and today. Then I
manually tried to update KMM and then the abort happened.

To clarify what I am asking for is the net cost and gain/loss of the

Presently, the Investment Tab allows the selection and viewing of Symbol,

If I sell a stock today (04/12/2018) and record it in the ledger the
transaction is not reporting on the Investment Capital Gains by Account Report.
If I change the date to 04/11 still nothing. If I change the date to 04/10 no
reporting. If I change the ledger date to 04/09/2018 it finally shows up on
the report. Same is true for the Investment Capital Gains by Type report. The
report isn't reporting the correct transaction information for the pulled date
information.

I'm running KMM 5.0.2 on Manjaro.

Hi Phil,

I had a few issues with compiling and installing KMM 5. Then I simply went to
AUR repository and searched for KMM. I found kmymoney-git and installed it.
It worked like a breeze from an install standpoint and now I'm running 5.0.2.
Hope this helps. I've only been on Linux since January of this year and I
don't really understand the risks of doing it this way but it worked for me.

The workaround that I've been using is I have a blank payee at the very top of
my payee list. When I am using the ledger I click on the payee and scroll all
the way to the top using my mouse and select the "blank" payee and it will show
greyed "Payer/Receiver" in the ledger. I then complete the rest of the
transaction and click enter. Payee is removed and as I don't have any other
info in the form then I see an account that I used as a transfer.

After I map an Account OFX import runs just fine and my transactions download
properly. As I don't want to update the last 60 days of transactions again I
change the Import details to Last Update.

With this change the Update Account and Update All Accounts turns grey.

When I go look for at Edit Account > Online Settings the Online Settings tab is
gone.

Account still shows as Mapped when you view the Account tab on the toolbar.

Changing the Import Details to Last Update makes downloading of transactions
inoperable.

I find your choice of words, like pathetic & impossible to be inappropriate for
this post. Have you made any financial contributions to the individuals that
take their personal time to code this software? Time where they could be doing
other activities (visiting with family & friends, doing personal activities,
etc) If not then maybe you should consider being a little more gracious to
their hard work and the efforts they put in. This software is free and led by
a volunteer group that should be supported by an understanding, considerate
community. A community that supports each other and shares ideas respectfully
when they are needed and become available. I personally shared with you a
solution for your needs and frankly next time I'll let someone else volunteer.

This bug has already been documented and fixed in the upcoming update within

The workaround is to use your keyboard and navigate the selection of the payee
by using the up/down keys and then use the tab key to move forward. Using the
mouse will cause the crash.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391454

--- Comment #2 from Michael Carpino <mfcarp...@gmail.com> ---
I tried a few different things which is appears to cause a linking issue or
lack there of. First I deleted the passwords in KDEWallet to make sure the
passwords where being set there correctly. Then I unmapped the investment
accounts.

With my first brokerage account(TD Ameritrade), I went the checking account
and mapped the checking account by selecting account > map account >
ofximporter > TD Ameritrade. After finalizing I verified that I can update and
it works. But if I go to the Investment Ledger for this account it is still
showing Unmapped. I can go through all the steps and map it but there is some
type of linkage problem I didn't have to do this in earlier versions.

With my other brokerage account (Fidelity NetBenefits) I went through the same
steps above except I started by mapping the Investment ledger. Then I went to
the (brokerage) checking account and it shows it isn't mapped.

When I look in KDEWallet the paswords are stored there correctly.

I have other accounts that are not "Brokerage" type and mapping is working just
fine.

After Mapping a Brokerage account (checking & investment)using OFX the
passwords don't appear to be linking correctly with KMM. I input the
information (ID & Password) and update (download) the transactions which works
fine. Then I come back again to update and it shows the account is mapped but
the "Update account" is greyed out. If I select Update all accounts it asks me
to select the checking account associated with an unidentifiable account. The
only workaround is to unmap, remap and download the transaction each time.

Passwords are properly stored in KDEWallet.
