[plasmashell] [Bug 483188] With AMD GPU and non-floating panel, Icons-Only Task Manager on one monitor's panel randomly becomes unresponsive until plasmashell is restarted or a window is maximized and
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483188 --- Comment #23 from pete --- Update: no settings for the taskbar seem to prevent the issue, but leaving it floating seems to make it happen less often, and be more easily recoverable without restarting plasmashell. One thing I notice that may help shed light on this (or just make it more confusing): When my monitors wake up, the primary wakes up first and the secondary shows up a bit after. Part of that is definitely just different monitors acting differently but when the primary comes on, I can momentarily see a second taskbar appear on the primary before disappearing and reappearing on the secondary once it loads. If I use the primary taskbar *right* before that happens, it works. But "right* after the secondary monitor's panel appears is when the primary panel stops working. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It might be related to pipewire. I do have window previews enabled. Interesting idea, I'll try turning it off and see what happens. Testing with the opaque and floating settings is a mixed bag so far. With opaque enabled I had a few hard lock-ups that weren't fixed by maximizing/de-maximizing a window and actually had to restart. With floating and adaptive, it only happens rarely. Nothing I can see as a clear pattern so far. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Or does it not launch? > > Finally, does any of this happen when you have only a single screen? I haven’t tested a single screen but will do that tonight. Only the panel itself on the primary screen is affected. It is affected functionally - right clicking on it gives me the menu that would appear on a blank section (i.e option to enter edit mode, etc.). Clicking on pinned apps or the launcher does nothing. If I grab an app, drag it to the primary screen, maximize then un-maximize it, the problem usually goes away. Otherwise it just works again after a few minutes usually. Sorry Nate! I should have mentioned that is on Wayland, and it does happen even when not using Chrome. In fact, I've noticed today that it primarily happens when I allow my monitor to turn off and return after a while. I don't have it set to sleep or lock, only turn the monitor off after ten minutes. OBSERVED RESULT Plugging in USB headphones creates a new, matching USB output device in the applet. When the headphones are unplugged, the output device remains and a new one is created when the headphones are plugged in again - filling the menu as shown in the attached image. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451296 Bug ID: 451296 Summary: [Wayland] Acceleration profiles and pointer speed slider don't work Product: systemsettings Version: 5.24.3 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_mouse Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: hayy...@protonmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. [kwin] [Bug 444510] Mouse cursor acts weird with flat acceleration profile in plasma-wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444510 pete changed: What|Removed |Added CC||hayy...@protonmail.com Version|5.23.2 |5.24.2 --- Comment #4 from pete --- I can confirm this still happens on 5.24.2. On X, the pointer moves exactly as expected with the flat acceleration profile and the speed can be adjusted with the slider. On Wayland, it seems to use the adaptive profile but both the slider and profile options appear to have no effect. I hope this is seen soon by one of our lovely devs, I can imagine it being a big deal for people new that are new to KDE on distros where Wayland is the default (15-min bug?). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 406166] New: taskbar icons always show on all desktops for Qt5.9.1 based application windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406166 Bug ID: 406166 Summary: taskbar icons always show on all desktops for Qt5.9.1 based application windows Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: OpenBSD Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: p...@cadence.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY On SLES11 SP4 system running KDE 4.3.5 window icons for applications based on Qt 5.9.1 appear on the taskbar for all desktops even though both "Only show tasks from the current desktop" and "Only show tasks from the current screen" are selected in the Task Manager Settings. This does not occur with a RedHat 6 system running KDE 4.3.4 running the same Qt 5.9.1 based application. Note that in both cases KDE is running in a VNC server. On the SuSE system I noticed that when remote displaying to the VNC session from another display, the problem did not occur. I compared the environment variables from both terminal session and noted that the VNC terminal session defined VNCDESKTOP with a value of "X". If I "unsetenv VNCDESKTOP" (I'm using csh) and start the application then the problem no longer occurs and the window icons only show in the taskbar of the same desktop they are in. Doing "setenv VNCDESKTOP X" restored the wrong behavior. This is a critical issue because our software is being blamed for this by our customers, even though we do not set anything that I can determine would cause this. Note that thie problem does not occur on RedHat Linux, only on SuSE Linux (SLES). Also, note that unsetting an environment variable that I assume should have no effect on how taskbar icons are displayed changes how they are displayed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. [digikam] [Bug 397901] Work-around for maximum number of images in an album
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397901 --- Comment #3 from Pete Hall --- After storing a certain number (unknown but less then 32767, so not a data type issue) of images, digikam cannot display the number of images in a directory (it always shows zero) for most recently added directories (ONLY MOST RECENT DIRECTORIES). Images in directories that show zero items in digikam, do not appear as thumbnails, and cannot be retrieved for viewing or editing. This can be worked around by splitting up images into two groups so you never reach that magic number of images. Splitting up images means that you must store part of your total image catalog on a different file system, and must umount it. If both parts are mounted at the same time, you exceed that magic number of images across all file systems, and the problem re-appears. I can do this umounting and mounting externally to digikam, and this works, but is not very user friendly. Also cannot move images from the mounted group to the umounted group, which is even more user un-friendly. By the way, I have tried moving to mariadb. maybe that will solve the problem eventually, but cannot get mariadb to work on ubuntu 18.04 due to dependency version mismatches in the ubuntu repository. I do not want to violate this due to unknown side effects with other packages. The problem may not be the database anyway. Maybe it is caused by a maximum number of objects allowed in a java collection or something like that. This I cannot determine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
