But I can have libunity installed and it still works with IceWM!

Actuallly, if you open Chrome and go to "chrome://gpu", you will find two
entries:

Window manager | KWin
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP | KDE

If there is nothing you can do, how does it come, that other window managers
(IceWM) and KWin 5.5 have no such problem?

A workaround that I found, is to remove libunity:
$ sudo apt remove libunity9

Sorry for the double post, I couldn't find the first bug report, because it was
already closed, so I thought, I didn't send it.

[kwin] [Bug 371025] New: libunity causes Google Chrome not to show client side decorations

2016-10-17 Thread Peter Eszlari via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371025

Bug ID: 371025
Summary: libunity causes Google Chrome not to show client side
decorations
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: decorations
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: peter.eszl...@gmail.com

When libunity is installed and I try to maximize the Chrome's window, Chrome's
own minimize/maximize/close buttons disappear. This doesn't happen with other
WMs (tested with IceWM).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. sudo apt install libunity9
2. sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
3. start Chrome
4. maximize Chrome

Actual Results:
Chrome's own minimize/maximize/close buttons disappear

Expected Results:
Chrome's own minimize/maximize/close buttons shoud stay visible

tested with Kubunu 16.10 with Plasma 5.7 and KDE Neon with Plasma 5.8
