I cannot find out here all general information. I think most systems has more parts than only processor, RAM and graphics card, so would be nice to put here also info about 1. my display(s) - at least manufacturer and resolution To find out I need to run additional application - System Settings -> Display Information 2. local (not network) storage(s) To find out I need to run additional application - System Monitor (here I can find info about: Memory, Disc, CPU, Network but not about display) To get full information about my hardware I need to jump between couple applications, which for sure this is not comfortable. Second thing is wasting space. I mean information about laptop. Now there is split manufacturer, model (calling here "System Version" which IMO is not intuitive, and better would be just "model") and "Product Name" 3 lines. I wonder why? Isn't would be better just put all in one line (and alternatively show tool tip for each part after mouse over it), for example: LENOVO, ThinkPad T480 (20L50003PB) Third thing is the order. Why more general information about my hardware like manufacturer, model is placed as last and as first I can see info about CPU? Isn't more intuitive to put these information in opposite way? for example: My PC: LENOVO, ThinkPad T480 (20L50003PB) Processors: ... Memory: ... Graphics Processor: ... Display: ... Audio Processor: ... Storage: ... STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1.Start "Info Center" 2. Open "About this System" 3. [kwin] [Bug 15329] Save and remember positions of all windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15329 --- Comment #88 from Piotr Mierzwinski --- I case of restore Plasma session if you use one monitor then all windows are placed in the middle of screen on the stack. IMO, this is not so elegant and convenient, because user after that need to/usually want rearrange/place them in way like were placed in previous session. About save position. I think setting rules to given window to save its position would be saved isn't easy for regular user. In my opinion easiest would be put option into window's properties. I mean icon at the left top corner if window and its menu, where is placed entry "More options" and here "Move", "Resize", "Full Screen", e.t.c.. I have not to say that it was very frustrating and annoying. It happened twice at one day. I started konsole with two tabs. I started Firefox with many opened tabs (20-30) with YouTube partially playing and paused them. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479561 Bug ID: 479561 Summary: Display Configuration show parameters about not used display Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: master Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_kscreen Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: piotr.mierzwin...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 164767 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164767=edit System Settings - Display Configuration_init SUMMARY I use laptop with external monitor (27"). I don't use built in monitor, because usually I have lid closed. Unfortunately Display Configuration shows parameters for this not used monitor, but in the picture I can see my external monitor (not enabled - maybe this is the issue). After I click onto picture I get configuration of external monitor. Please look at the attached screen shots. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect to your laptop external monitor 2. Configure to use external monitor with closed lid 3. restart/relogin 4. open Display Configuration in System Settings OBSERVED RESULT Parameters for built in monitor, what is not used EXPECTED RESULT Parameters external monitor, what is used SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.91.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.248 Qt Version: 6.6.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 479009] New: After switch screen to lower resolution, opened windows size and position is not adjusted new resolution
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479009 Bug ID: 479009 Summary: After switch screen to lower resolution, opened windows size and position is not adjusted new resolution Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.91.0 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: piotr.mierzwin...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Usually I work with external monitor (and lid closed) with resolution 2560x1440 (27"), but from time to time I turn on my laptop without external monitor, so I get lower resolution like 1920x1080. I often have 3 Firefox windows (resized max vertically and horizontally wider than resolution in my laptop) open when working with an external monitor. The problem is that when I start Firefox working on laptop all windows are placed such that title bar and left side are moved outside the screen (their left corners), so neither cannot resize it nor move them dragging by title bar. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. connect external monitor with resolution higher than such in laptop 2. close the lid (work only with external monitor) 3. open 3 Firefox windows (in external monitor) 4. resize them (more than resolution in laptop) 5. close the system 6. disconnect external monitor 7. start the system 8. start Firefox OBSERVED RESULT Left top part of all windows are moved outside the screen. EXPECTED RESULT All windows should be down scaled, such they were adjusted to new (lower) resolution. When I did this my monitor just hang (no any reaction on power button) to unhung it I needed to plug off power cord and plug it again. In result I saw lock screen and could login normally. I didn't mention this earlier, by my monitor is connected via USB Type C hub by HDMI connector.
