[systemsettings] [Bug 417615] Option to disable kdeconnect

The open port is indeed an attack surface, there should be an option to run
kdeconnect only when needed.

Kdeconnect should be visible among the auto-run services so that it could be
disabled (without uninstalling).

Additionally it would be nice to have an option to disable just the listening
socket from the system tray menu.

Would be nice if someone could pick this up, as a recent vim update also
triggers the lack of DECSCUSR support in konsole. See

If I disable the secondary monitor via kscreen, then the laptop taskbar remains
populated. If however I just disconnect the secondary monitor, then first the
applications get migrated to the laptop screen (they appear on the
laptop-screen-taskbar), then after some flickering the laptop-screen-taskbar
gets empty...

All returns to normal when I reconnect the external monitor.

I think it's some other issue (the changing the format to hh.mm) as it happens

[plasmashell] [Bug 375546] New: all tasks disappear from task manager when I unplug the secondary monitor if "Show only tasks from current screen" is checked

2017-01-25 Thread Radics Péter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375546

Bug ID: 375546
Summary: all tasks disappear from task manager when I unplug
the secondary monitor if "Show only tasks from current
screen" is checked
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: mitchnull+...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 103632
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=103632=edit
screenshot of the empty task manager after the unplugging

I have a dual screen setup with a panel at the bottom of each screen. Both
panels contain a Task Manager applet that is set to display only tasks from the
current activity and current screen.

When I unplug the secondary monitor, all applications "migrate" to the laptop
screen, but the task manager on this screen becomes empty (even the tasks that
were previously on the laptop screen are removed). All the tasks appear for a
short period during the transition period, but then the task manager becomes
empty. If I uncheck the "Show only tasks from current screen" option, then all
tasks are shown again in the task manager.

Reconnecting the secondary display "fixes" the task manager on the laptop
screen.

I also found that only "Dialog Parent" and "Translucency" trigger the crash.
"Dialog Parent" is more reliable. I found that the crash is triggered more
often if the system is under load. I did a "ninja -j6" build of llvm during
the tests (pegging all CPU cores to 100%) and it seemed to be enough to
reliably trigger the crash. On an idle system the crash didn't happen so
often.

2016-02-22 Thread Radics Péter via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359662

Bug ID: 359662
Summary: Terminal Rows are miscalculated if Menu Bar is turned
off
   Product: konsole
   Version: 15.12.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: mitchnull+...@gmail.com

the "Terminal Size" settings was recently fixed (see bug 345403), but the
Terminal Rows are miscalculated on start-up if the menu bar is disabled ("Show
MenuBar" option). Apparently the calculation is done assuming the menu bar is
shown. If I want to get a 80x25 terminal with MenuBar disabled, I have to set
Columns to 80 and Rows to 23 (instead of 25). If I start up konsole with the
above settings while the MenuBar is enabled, I get a 80x23 terminal (with
menubar).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Settings->Configure Konsole->General:
  - set "Show menubar by default to false" (unchecked)
  - set "Use current window size on next startup" to false (unchecked)
2. In Edit Current Profile->General->Terminal Size, set Columns to 80, Rows to
23.
3. start a new konsole with the above settings

Actual Results:
A konsole starts up with 80x25 geometry (without menubar)

Expected Results:
A konsole starts up with 80x23 geometry (without menubar)

The setting works again, but it doesn't take into account if the menu bar is
disabled or not (apparently it always assumes that it is enabled and calculates
the size based on that).

I have the menu bar disabled, thus I have to set the size to 80x23 to get a
80x25 window. If I turn the menubar on, I'll get a 80x23 window with menubar
(as set in the settings).

[Breeze] [Bug 358578] New: Active window taskbar entry background too bright in Breeze Dark theme

2016-01-26 Thread Radics Péter via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358578

Bug ID: 358578
Summary: Active window taskbar entry background too bright in
Breeze Dark theme
   Product: Breeze
   Version: 5.5.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: mitchnull+...@gmail.com

Breeze Dark theme is using the same background setting for taskbar entries as
the default Breeze theme, but the default bright-blue background for active
(focused) windows is too bright on the dark theme (it is like the window wants
"attention", it keeps distracting). I've modified the tasts.svgz file from the
default breeze theme to only add a blue border to the active (focused) window,
not tint the whole taskbar entry. Unfortunately placing this file under
/usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/breeze-dark/widgets/ doesn't seem to be enough,
so at the moment I overwrite the default (under
/usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/default/widgets/).

Please consider changing the breeze-dark tasks.svgz to be a less bright (less
attention-demanding) version.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) change plasma theme to Breeze Dark
2) open a window (like a browser)
3) focus the new window

Actual Results:
the visual feedback for active window in the taskbar with the breeze-dark theme
is too bright, demanding attention

Expected Results:
the taskbar entry for the window (when it is focused) should provide visual
feedback about being focused, but not be too distracting

Could someone just review the change proposed by Daniel Scharrer? (Just check
if it doesn't cause any serious damage, and apply it as a quick-fix until
someone can look into the issue deeper).

This issue is really annoying...
