[plasmashell] [Bug 485290] New: Application launcher should float even when the panel is not floating
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485290 Bug ID: 485290 Summary: Application launcher should float even when the panel is not floating Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff) Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com CC: mikel5...@gmail.com, noaha...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY In Plasma 6 we get a nice floating application launcher, which together with the floating panel makes Plasma look very modern. However, when a window is maximized and the panel de-floats, the application launcher stops floating. I see the reasoning here, but it would be better if the application launcher could still float, even when the panel is not floating. Since this might not be everyone's cup of tea, it would be nice to have an option in Kickoff's settings that allows to "Float even when the panel is not floating". STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Plasma and make sure no window is visible, so that the panel is floating 2. Click the application launcher in the panel 3. The app launcher will float (as expected) 4. Now open an application and maximize its window 5. Click the application launcher in the panel 6. The app launcher no longer floats (this is what will change with this proposal) OBSERVED RESULT In Step 6 the panel does not float EXPECTED RESULT In Step 6 the panel should float SYSTEM INFO Operating System: KDE neon 6.0 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.3 Kernel Version: 6.5.0-26-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × Intel® Core™ i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz Memory: 15,5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 82CG System Version: IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IMH05 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 484849] Wrong mouse pointer during login
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484849 --- Comment #2 from Rafael Lima --- (In reply to mydarkstar from comment #1) > could you please check if going to "System Settings → Colors & Themes → > Login Screen (SDDM) → Apply Plasma Settings... → Apply" fixes your issue? It did not fix the issue... I still get the same mouse pointer. Actually, right before the the login screen appears, I get a black screen with a mouse pointer (using the correct Breeze pointer). Then when the login screen appears, the mouse pointer changes to the wrong pointer. And then after I enter my password and click the ">" button, the mouse pointer switches to the Breeze theme. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 475077] Desktop Bar Doesn't Appear when Virtual Desktop Rows Set to Number Greater Than One
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475077 --- Comment #14 from Rafael Lima --- (In reply to Niccolò Venerandi from comment #8) > You can press the Overview shortcut again to switch to the grid mode and > easily move applications between desktops Unfortunately this is not a nice experience. The current implementation in 5.27 is so much better. (In reply to postix from comment #13) > To further decrease any confusion about a different layout some users may > have due the linearization I'd suggest to add a row indicator to the VD > preview bar. Please see the mockup. I believe this makes it pretty obvious > and clear. :) TBH I think the indicators are not needed... they clutter the interface. It would be better to simply revert to what we had in 5.27. If a user sets a 2x2 = 4 workspaces, they won't find it weird to see a row with 4 workspaces when they open the overview. Now, if the user sees nothing at the top bar when the Overview is started, then this will be weird. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 475077] Desktop Bar Doesn't Appear when Virtual Desktop Rows Set to Number Greater Than One
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475077 Rafael Lima changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com --- Comment #7 from Rafael Lima --- I was about to report this issue as well... If this is intentional, I'm not sure it's a very wise choice. This will basically make it a pain for users who like to have layouts with 2 or more rows, which are very handy. It kills a lot of the functionalities of the Overview, since you can no longer move applications to other desktops. Using multiple-row layouts (f.i. 2x2, 3x3, etc) is very useful, because it gives much more flexibility for switching layouts with a single move (up, down, left, right). When I was trying out Plasma 6, I set my virtual desktops in a 2x2 layout and when I toggled the overview to move applications to other desktops, it wasn't possible to do so. It simply killed the Overview for me. FTR this works nicely on Plasma 5.27, so I don't see the point of removing something that is useful and works fine in Plasma 5. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

If you click the Kickoff button, it will try to center the application launcher on the Kickoff button (see attached image). When the panel is set like a dock, the application launcher should be either: (i) left aligned with the kickoff button or (ii) centered on the screen. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451549 Bug ID: 451549 Summary: Launching overview with Zoom effect is not capturing mouse position correctly Product: kwin Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.24 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-overview Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Suppose you are using your desktop and apply the Zoom effect (which is accessed by default using Meta + "="). With the zoom effect enabled, launch the Overview effect. The overview will temporarily restore the zoom to 100%, which IMO is what should happen. However, moving the mouse, you'll notice that the overview effect is not capturing mouse position correctly. Therefore, if you click something, then something else will receive the click event. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a few windows on your desktop (maybe 5) 2. Zoom in a bit using the Zoom effect (Meta + "=") 3. Open the overview effect (Meta + "w") 4. Notice that while you move the mouse, the window that receives focus is not the window below the mouse pointer 5. Try to click one of the windows from the overview 6. The window that will get selected is not the window you clicked Disabling the Zoom effect (Meta + "-") so that zoom is at 100% will restore the correct behavior. OBSERVED RESULT The clicked window should be shown. EXPECTED RESULT Another window is shown because the mouse position is being captured incorrectly when the Zoom effect is enabled. [okular] [Bug 450748] New: Show comments of the "Highlighter" and "Pop-up notes" in the sidebar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450748 Bug ID: 450748 Summary: Show comments of the "Highlighter" and "Pop-up notes" in the sidebar Product: okular Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: PDF backend Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 147071 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=147071=edit Screenshot describing the request SUMMARY When I'm reviewing academic work, I love to use Okular to annotate PDFs with my suggestions for the author. I frequently use the Highlighter tool and pop-up notes, which allow the user to include a comment in a box. However, to see these comments, the user has to either: - Position the mouse over the comment and wait a little until it shows as a tooltip - Double-click the comment so the comment box will open - Right-click the comment in the sidebar and choose "Open pop-up note" The sidebar in this case does not use its full potential, because it only shows the type of annotation, but it would be great if it showed an excerpt of the comment itself. It would be super useful to take a quick look at all comments without having to click anywhere, as well as when searching existing comments. See the attached image for more details. [dolphin] [Bug 446904] New: When "Split view" is enabled column widths should adjust to fit the screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446904 Bug ID: 446904 Summary: When "Split view" is enabled column widths should adjust to fit the screen Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: split view Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Dolphin has an awesome feature that is the "Split screen" (accessible via the Toolbar or by pressing F3). However, when the split view is enabled, the column widths do not adjust to fit the new size (which is now half of the original size). So when we need to see the values of columns such as "Size" or "Modified" we need to use the horizontal scrollbar to be able to see them. I believe a better user experience would be to resize column widths so that they fit the split window. This way the user can see item's size, modify date, etc without having to use the horizontal scrollbar. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin 2. Enable Split view (press F3) 3. Notice that columns to the right are no longer visible and if the user wishes to see them, he/she needs to use the scrollbar. OBSERVED RESULT The columns are not visible and require the use of the scrollbar. EXPECTED RESULT The columns should automatically resize to be visible without having to resort to the scrollbar. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 445609] New: Navigating rclone mounts too slow with KDE file picker, but very fast on Dolphin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445609 Bug ID: 445609 Summary: Navigating rclone mounts too slow with KDE file picker, but very fast on Dolphin Product: frameworks-kio Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Open/save dialogs Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have some rclone mounts on my system for my OneDrive accounts (personal, business, etc). They're all working fine and when I navigate them using Dolphin, they're very responsive. Opening folders with many items usually takes less than a second to load using Dolphin. However, when I'm on an application (f.i. Kate, LibreOffice, etc) and I use the File Picker to navigate the rclone mounts and choose a place to save the file, the navigation happens very slowly. Even for folders with few items, it takes about 10 seconds to load. Folders with many items take 30 seconds. I don't know exactly the problem, but it seems the file picker is caching recursively the entire folder contents, whereas Dolphin only loads the current folder contents. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a rclone mout 2. Navigate it on Dolphin 3. Navigate the same mount with the file picker OBSERVED RESULT On Dolphin everything is snappy... using the file picker on the same mount is very slow. EXPECTED RESULT Both should have the same speed. I type the shortcut and it gets shown in the custom shortcut control, but it doesn't get saved no matter what I do. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Go to Settings > Configure keyboard shortcuts 2. Choose any option, f.i. Rotate left 3. Choose Custom and click the button where it's written "None" 4. Press the desired shortcut (in my case Ctrl + Shift + L) 5. The shortcut is identified by the control but it doesn't get shown where it's supposed to (see attached file); actually it keeps catching more shortcuts if I keep pressing keys 6. Click OK in the main dialog OBSERVED RESULT The shortcut is not saved. I tried it multiple times and all the times it gets caught duplicated. One weird thing: if I press Enter while it's catching the shortcut, then it gets saved, but it also saves Enter as the shortcut. However, the desired shortcut does not work. EXPECTED RESULT The shortcut should be saved and work.
