Thank you again.
I have updated my Ubuntu to 20.04.5 LTS, and then I was able to install and run
appImage. The problem now is that it seems like I need to run appImage every
time I want to use Digikam. Is that correct

Thank you. I had previously downloaded it via Ubuntu Software Center.
I have now uninstalled it and tried to do it with appImage, but it didn't work.
After I download appImage and provide it with executable permission, I
