In normal text edits (QLineEdit, QTextEdit), each diacritic is removed first, and when there is non left, another backspace press will delete the character. The reason of this is using "previousCursorPosition" method, as cursor doesn't move when adding diacritics. And so, the previous position will be the last character. Sample text (With diacritic at the end): "ذهبَ" Sample text (With two diacritics at the end): "حيٌّ" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write/Copy-Paste sample text 2. [kate] [Bug 187408] [BiDi/Unicode] RTL: Directionality dependent upon word wrap
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=187408 Safa Alfulaijchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||safa1996alful...@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Safa Alfulaij --- Direction-ality in Kate/KWrite is depended on the text, wheater it's RTL or LTR. The only thing that differs here is alignment: - Left alignment for all the text if word-wrap is off. - Dependent alignment for RTL/LTR text if word-wrap is on. So I don't really see the importance of making such an option to just get the alignment to right if word-wrap is off. Since direction of both text is correct, alignment it's not a big problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 280645] [BiDi/Unicode] If the BiDi algorithms is too complicated to maintain, why not to support the simple one???
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280645 Safa Alfulaijchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||safa1996alful...@gmail.com --- Comment #5 from Safa Alfulaij --- I don't see any use of making such a button. The current implementation of bidi text is quite fine. Word-wrap (off): All the text is aligned to left, while the direction of each is correct. RTL text have RTL direction, and LTR text have LTR direction. Word-wrap (on): Text is aligned depending on it's direction. So Arabic/Hebrew text is aligned to right, and English text is aligned to left. And the text direction of both is correct. To conclude: Direction-ality is reserved for both RTL and LTR text.
