I'm afraid it was not fixed, I've just upgraded the installation to 20.04 and
had to clean up almost 20GiB of duplicates in ~/.cache/kioexec/krun/

They are still created and not cleaned up when a file from a connected Android
phone is opened "directly".

Files were opened by VLC and EOG from Dolphin. I'll add exact software versions
upon request.

Something in this script helped
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=218=123855#p366196

But it's really bad UX to have to wrap the whole launch sequence into a long sh
script just for a basic feature to work. Feel free to close this.

Unfortunately, it does not.

You mean the

Projects tool view > a python project context menu > Open configuration >
Python settings > Python interpreter

, yes? I've just copied it into a terminal and was able to import module that
is not recognized by KDevelop. Any other suggestions?

Just noticed that Konsole output is full of "/bin/sh: 1: indent: not found" for
some reason.

[kdev-python] [Bug 430151] New: Documentation is missing at least on setting up venv

2020-12-08 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430151

Bug ID: 430151
Summary: Documentation is missing at least on setting up venv
   Product: kdev-python
   Version: 5.5.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Documentation data
  Assignee: m...@svenbrauch.de
  Reporter: serhiy@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
At least with Kdevelop 5.5.0 it's not clear how to set up a workflow with a
virtual environment

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. python3 -m venv venvname
2. source venvname/bin/activate
3. pip install matplotlib
4. Create a project in KDevelop with import matplotlib

OBSERVED RESULT
Far from obvious how should venv be set up. Forums didn't really help.
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=218=123855 And even need to read the
forum to set up a basic feature is a problem.

EXPECTED RESULT
Setting up Python venv is documented.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDevelop 5.5.0, irrelevant because it's about documentation

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Kate? With "Do not remember" opened files are still written to _several_

SUMMARY
Found that this folder on two separate installations in use for some time is
full of old files, ranging from 2017-10 to 2018-11.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Find some installation that was used with some KIO functions that involve
~/.cache/kioexec/krun/
2. Check this folder.

OBSERVED RESULT
Folder is full of old files, in some cases huge archives that are copies of
already present files that take up space.

EXPECTED RESULT
Folder is always cleaned up after use. Maybe that's the case currently but is
there at least a PSA to clean it up manually somewhere I missed? Is the problem
known?

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
unknown, at least the ones available in Kubuntu repos during 2017-2018

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Alternative hypothesis is that it's due to some process crashing. Can anything
be done to this on KDE level instead of adding rm -rf in crontab as tmpfs is
not an option for these files may be large?

[systemsettings] [Bug 399020] New: Impossible to have different applications for HTML files and URLs

2018-09-24 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399020

Bug ID: 399020
Summary: Impossible to have different applications for HTML
files and URLs
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.12.6
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_filetypes
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: serhiy@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try developing a Django project with convention that template files have
.html extension.
2. Try setting Kate as file association for *.html files and open such file.
The setting is ignored completely because default web browser overrides it.
3. Try changing setting of browser to "In an application based on the contents
of the URL". Files open in Kate now. But all URLs too.

EXPECTED RESULT
There is a way to make files open in text editor and URLs in browser.

ACTUAL RESULT
No way to make files open in Kate and URLs in browser. You either have to
remember that you have to open every HTML file through three clicks or have
very hard time using any application that depends on opening links because they
open in Kate.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

first glance the explanation is less clear.

   Product: plasmashell

  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk

Qt Version: 5.9.5
Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Operating System: Linux 4.15.0-34-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I clicked on "Disconnect" button of my main WiFi network that was
auto-connected after logging in.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
I did it becase this networks' name was empty and others had a name shown as
usual.
May be related too: my Firefox was freezing frequently lately on
FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE on strace. Did not report that bug yet. System was upgraded
to Kubuntu 18.04 not long ago and had problems with Nvidia drivers, partially
solved.

[kio] [Bug 208625] Dolphins temporary files aren't deleted

2017-03-05 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya

--- Comment #33 from Serhiy Zahoriya <serhiy@gmail.com> ---
Still 100%-reproducible on Dolphin 16.04.3 (kubuntu backports PPA)

I don't see it as files not being removed but as the files being copied to /tmp

Why would you do that?

Please close this bug as a duplicate:

Yesterday I've deleted samba to get rid of these messages and after installing
and disabling it again I can no longer reproduce this. Maybe it was due to some
permissions issue on this /var/run/samba/ folder. It's an old system upgraded
many times after all. Closing this for now, sorry for disturbing.

Short version for anyone finding this by same errors: try reinstalling samba as
a workaround.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 377165] New: Looks like KIO wasn't tested when samba is installed but not started and fills logs with error messages

2017-03-03 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377165

Bug ID: 377165
Summary: Looks like KIO wasn't tested when samba is installed
but not started and fills logs with error messages
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.28.0
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: serhiy@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

There are thousands of these lines in logs and they take 8Mb after just few
hours of using the system:

We got some errors while running 'net usershare info'
"mkdir failed on directory /var/run/samba/msg.lock:
\xD0\x92\xD1\x96\xD0\xB4\xD0\xBC\xD0\xBE\xD0\xB2\xD0\xBB\xD0\xB5\xD0\xBD\xD0\xBE
\xD1\x83 \xD0\xB4\xD0\xBE\xD1\x81\xD1\x82\xD1\x83\xD0\xBF\xD1\x96\n"

BTW, why is this "Access denied" in Ukrainian written in URL encoding instead
of UTF-8?

Bug ID: 359693
Summary: Notifications not shown with an autohidden panel

If I set the only panel that contains the system tray to autohide and log in
with that state all popup notifications become just a blinking for fractions of
a second rectangles in the top left corner.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the main panel to autohide.
2. Log out and log in.
3. Trigger/Send any popup notification.

Actual Results:
Notifications appear just for a couple of frames in the top left corner
regardless of their location settings.

Expected Results:
Notification visible for set period of time in the desired screen corner.

Panel is on the left in case it matters. Notification reappear until the end of
current session if the autohide option is toggled.

It's still possible to shutdown the system physically unless it's locked
somewhere away from the display and HID devices or it's a remote session. Never
seen both IRL, but it's possible, yes (but why leave remote session on and
locked?). More, on most systems it's even still possible to both put the
machine to sleep or shutdown it by switching to a [locked] TTY console unless
these ACPI events are disabled (not the default in most cases, isn't it?). So
it looks illogical to me that I can put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid
but not by the keyboard shortcut (are there any laptops without a sleep button
on the keyboard?).
