[plasmashell] [Bug 463922] Multiple Instances of the 'Clipboard' Widget
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463922 --- Comment #10 from Terry Coles --- Created attachment 155305 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=155305=edit Before and After files I have now got my desktop working again and in the attached .zip file I have include the two requested files from this machine instead of my laptop. In the directory 'Freshly_Booted' there are many instances of the Clipboard icon in the System Tray and one instance of the Clipboard in the Internet Activity. Also, the running instance of the 'Strawberry' music player appears in the 'Utilities' Activity instead of the 'Multimedia' one. Finally (and this is new), the 'Control Centre' widget is displaced on one of the Activities. In the directory 'Desktop_Cleaned' all this has been restored to the proper arrangement. You will see from the screenshot of the output of kdiff that there are very few changes resulting from the cleanup operation. I hope this helps. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 463922] Multiple Instances of the 'Clipboard' Widget
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463922 Terry Coles changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |REMIND --- Comment #5 from Terry Coles --- Since there had been no feedback on this, I decided to do a clean installation of 22.10 instead of relying on the upgrade that I did last year. When this was complete, I found exactly the same problem. I then decided to do another clean installation of 22.10; this time all on the same partition, instead of my usual setup of OS on sda and /home on sdb. This installed OK, but the same bug was apparent. This problem doesn't seem to be confined to the one system. I have now fallen back on my laptop which I rarely use these days, but is also at 22.10. It shows the same problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 463922] New: Multiple Instances of the 'Clipboard' Widget
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463922 Bug ID: 463922 Summary: Multiple Instances of the 'Clipboard' Widget Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.26.4 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Clipboard Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kdeb...@hadrian-way.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 155071 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=155071=edit My Desktop after reboot SUMMARY On each reboot, multiple instances of the Clipboard widget icon appear in the system tray and one appears on the desktop. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Boot the machine. OBSERVED RESULT Since I upgraded my desktop machine to Kubuntu 22.10, I have had this extremely annoying problem. Initially, the 'Clipboard' icon in the system tray was not present. AFAICR, this had always been present in previous versions (Maybe I explicitly installed it many years ago and it had always been carried over during upgrades). Anyway it was found MIA. Using the 'Add Widgets' menu item I got it back, but I now have no less than 6 instances running (five in the system tray and one on the desktop, see screenshot attached. EXPECTED RESULT Only one Clipboard icon in the system tray SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.19.0-26 / 5.26.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I initially raised this as a question on 'Ubuntu Answers' and then raised it as a bug on Launchpad, but have yet to receive any helpful responses. Also, this may be irrelevant, but I have noticed another error that I have not seen before. I found that the audio player Clementine appeared a bit buggy since I installed 22.10 and after a bit of research I found that it was no longer supported. I therefore removed it and installed Strawberry. This works fine, but I cannot make it remember which Activity I want it to start in; it always starts in whatever Activity I was in when I shut down the previous session. Looking at the preferences file for plasma, I see that the modified time is equivalent to when I rebooted and not when I moved strawberry from my Games Activity to my Multimedia Activity. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Discover] [Bug 366029] Updater does not report available updates every day
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366029 --- Comment #2 from Terry Coles <kdeb...@hadrian-way.co.uk> --- OK. Will do. However, I'd like to mention that I reported the bug here by clicking on the 'Report bug...' menu item in the Update Manager. Someone somewhere should make that point to Kubuntu, instead of KDE; presumably that someone is in the Kubuntu team. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Discover] [Bug 366029] New: Updater does not report available updates every day
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366029 Bug ID: 366029 Summary: Updater does not report available updates every day Product: Discover Version: 5.6.4 Platform: Kubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: discover Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: kdeb...@hadrian-way.co.uk Created attachment 100262 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=100262=edit Updates configuration tab Checking for updates is configured to happen daily (see attached screenshot), but updates are only flagged about once a week. Manually checking for updates using the Update Manager does not identify any pending updates, even when they exist. However, issuing 'sudo apt-get update' in a shell causes the update manager to flag them. Update Manager then applies the updates normally when directed to do so. Maybe this is a configuration issue, but it would seem pointless to check for updates and then ignore them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Discover] [Bug 347602] Update Manager systray icon and info still reports pending updates after updates applied
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347602 --- Comment #67 from Terry Coles <kdeb...@hadrian-way.co.uk> --- I can confirm that the updater doesn't indicate any updates until 'sudo apt-get update' is executed in a shell. The process then completes normally if I click on the icon. I had noticed this some time ago, but was holding off reporting it because I was uncertain whether the check was occurring on start-up and the actual updates arrived later. I'm now pretty sure that isn't the case -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
