[kwin] [Bug 486123] New: Allow moving/resizing of windows with mouse extra-button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486123 Bug ID: 486123 Summary: Allow moving/resizing of windows with mouse extra-button Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: input Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kdebugs.20.orz...@spamgourmet.com Target Milestone: --- On most window managers, you can bind mouse extra button for moving and resizing windows. Unfortunately not in kwin, and most those window managers are stuck with x11, not wayland. To be clear, as an example, this is how it's configured in openbox: What it does is that i can drag and drop a window by using button9, and resize by holding button8. Without using meta/control on keyboard or the usual left/middle/right buttons on the mouse. Buttons 8&9 are just additionnal buttons on the side of the mouse (i use the thumb). This is extremely convenient. I didn't care not using kwin until now, but with the move to wayland, this is something i deadly need. [systemsettings] [Bug 475876] Support additional mouse keys as modifiers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475876 --- Comment #5 from Thomas Capricelli --- Ok. The patch seems very minimalist. I guess I can not move/resize windows with just a mouse key, right ? [frameworks-kconfig] [Bug 485877] New: systemsettings writes language code into plasma-localerc while locale code is expected at start up
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485877 Bug ID: 485877 Summary: systemsettings writes language code into plasma-localerc while locale code is expected at start up Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-kconfig Version: 5.115.0 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: matt...@mjdsystems.ca Reporter: th...@web.de CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The language of large parts of the Plasma user interface is not set as intended by the systemsettings regional settings dialog when the system locale differs from the intended regional setting. The reason for this unexpected behavior is caused by the content of the file ./config/plasma-localerc, which contains only a language code (like 'en') but not the complete locale code (like 'en_US'), which is obviously expected when Plasma starts. The consequence is that the internationalization of Plasma is partly broken. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set your _system_ locale for instance to en_US.UTF-8, which you might want on a system with multiple international users. 2. Choose and set another language (for instance deutsch, but _not_ the system language) for your user in the regional settings dialog of systemsettings 3. Log out and log in OBSERVED RESULT The language of large parts of the Plasma user interface (for instance menus and clocks or even parts of systemsettings) is in the system language, for instance english, while other parts are in the other language, for instance deutsch, that you have set before. EXPECTED RESULT The whole Plasma user interface should be in the language that is set in the regional settings dialog of systemsettings, for instance deutsch, and not in the system language, for instance english. WORKAROUND In the example above, the relevant content of the configuration file ./config/plasma-localerc is > [Formats] > LANG=de When the line 'LANG=de' is changed to 'LANG=de_DE.UTF-8', i.e. from language code to regional code, the whole Plasma user interface is presented in the selected language deutsch after log out and log in. Setting the language again in the regional settings dialog of systemsettings to another language than deutsch and back to deutsch leads to a change of plasma-localerc and consequently again to the unwanted behavior. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.11 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.00 Qt Version: 5.15.12 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have set the severity of this bug to major, because I feel that the excellent internationalization is one of the important strengths of open source software. I have seen similar bugs in the bug tracker that were resolved. I think that some of these issues still may persist and could have been caused by the above described behavior. I don't know where the bug actually is. It can be in the regional settings dialog of systemsettings writing the wrong type of information but also in the routine that reads out the file plasma-localerc when Plasma starts expecting the wrong type of information. Thank you very much for providing KDE! I love it! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445351 Thomas Dickson changed: What|Removed |Added CC||thom-dick...@proton.me --- Comment #7 from Thomas Dickson --- It seems to be an issue with how Akregator exits primarily, maybe it's a problem with how wayland signals applications to exit? There were some other issues and bugs I fixed as well. I also noted that Google Books allows to download BibTeX code directly via another URL, but the data, even for the same book, is not the same. [systemsettings] [Bug 482943] Missing setting for notification sounds
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482943 --- Comment #21 from Thomas Carmichael --- With the wireplumber update to 0.5.1 the additional issues I was experiencing have been fixed and if I've changed the "System Sounds" setting to cause the "Notification sounds" slider to show, it returns to being persistent between logout/login/restart. However I've found what, for me at least, is a way to reproduce the main issue of the "Notification sounds" slider not being available. Based on previous testing, if I log in to a session and can see the "Notification sounds" slider, the following reproduces the missing slider for me: 1. Remove all files in ~/.local/state/wireplumber/ 2. Restart wireplumber with "systemctl --user restart wireplumber.service" 3. Load "System Settings" (if not loaded) and go to "Sound" (or click on another setting and back to "Sound" if it was already selected) and the "Notification sounds" slider is not there 4. Load "pavucontrol" and change the "System Sounds" volume under the "Playback" tab 5. In "System Settings", click on another setting area, then click onto "Sound" again and the "Notification sounds" slider is now visible With the slider now visible, if I follow steps 1 - 3 above, I consistently end up with no "Notification sounds" slider again until I use "pavucontrol" to change the "System Sounds" volume. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461952 --- Comment #10 from Thomas Baumgart --- I can imagine, that closing the popup can trigger it. That happens in KMyMoneyAccountCombo::makeCompletion() https://invent.kde.org/office/kmymoney/-/blob/master/kmymoney/widgets/kmymoneyaccountcombo.cpp?ref_type=heads#L476 . https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456225 Thomas Bertels changed: What|Removed |Added CC||tbert...@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Thomas Bertels --- The problem is that Okular doesn't use any interpolation while zooming in or out. When the zooming is done, the text then gets re-rendered. This can be easily reproduced by zooming in or out using Ctrl+mouse wheel. Lanczos 3 or 4 should be used when zooming in or out. [systemsettings] [Bug 482943] Missing setting for notification sounds
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482943 --- Comment #19 from Thomas Carmichael --- Based on Patrick Silva's mention of a recent pipewire update, I did various testing and found some issues that are occuring with wireplumber 0.5.0, where downgrading to 0.4.17 doesn't specifically fix this issue, bug the behaviour may have some relevance. I did various tests with downgrading the various pipewire packages to 1.0.3 but it seems like it's the wireplumber (and libwireplumber) package changes that have had the impact. All this testing was on EndeavourOS (so Arch) under X11 (in case that's relevant) in a virtual machine and what I did that appears to be pertinent was: 1. Downgrade to wireplumber 0.4.17 and restarted 2. Before login, delete ~/.local/state/wireplumber (to be sure nothing here had an impact) 3. Checked for "Notification Sounds" slider under System Settings > Sound but there was nothing there a. Tried to "Empty Trash" to see if a sound would show the indicator but it didn't 4. Opened "pavucontrol" and lowered volume of "System Sounds" under "Playback" tab a bit 5. Reopened the System Settings and there is now a "Notification Sounds" slider 6. Reduced volume to 0 and tested a notification sound, and no sound played (as expected). 7. Set the volume at 0 and restarted, where the volume was remembered and I could see the "Notification Sounds" slider on login 8. Set the volume at 100 and restarted, where the volume was remembered and I could see the "Notification Sounds" slider on login After the above testing: 1. Upgraded wireplumber to 0.5.0 and restarted (cleared ~/.local/state/wireplumber again) 2. Checked for "Notification Sounds" slider under System Settings > Sound but there was nothing there a. Tried to "Empty Trash" to see if a sound would show the indicator but it didn't 3. Opened "pavucontrol" and lowered volume of "System Sounds" under "Playback" tab a bit 4. Reopened the System Settings and there is now a "Notification Sounds" slider 5. Reduced volume to 0 and tested a notification sound, BUT sound still played (not expected) 6. Set the volume at 0 and restarted, BUT the volume was not remembered and I could not see the "Notification Sounds" slider on login a. It was necessary to open "pavucontrol" to get the slider to show again 7. Did multiple restarts, each time using "pavucontrol" to get the slider to appear and setting the volume to 0, then restarting and each time the "Notification Sounds" slider didn't appear and sounds still play when the volume is set to 0. Downgrading back to 0.4.17 seemed to partly fix the issue, at least so far as notification sounds being muted when volume is set to 0 and the volume change being remembered, as there's still the issue that the slider is not visible initially until using "pavucontrol". I realise that my in my testing I noted the sounds playing when they shouldn't, which isn't this issue, but I thought it was worth noting in case it's associated with whatever is going on with wireplumber and the KDE Plasma 6 interaction. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Having said that, changing the "System Sounds"/"Notification Sounds" volume appears to be having no impact and notification sounds are still playing for me. [kmail2] [Bug 483987] New: "Reply all" protection: ask for confirmation before replying to a potentially large number of recipients
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483987 Bug ID: 483987 Summary: "Reply all" protection: ask for confirmation before replying to a potentially large number of recipients Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: fisc...@unix-ag.uni-kl.de Target Milestone: --- Similar to the existing "Check Before Send Mail" plugin, Kmail should warn and ask for an extra confirmation if an email is about to be sent to a potentially large number of recipients. Criteria to test for: - Number of recipients in To, CC, and BCC fields is about a certain threshold - A mail address previously configured by the user as a "distribution address" is used. A "distribution address" would be a mail address like "every...@example.com", where the mail server then takes are to distribute the mail to a large number of recipients. Those check should not be limited to cases when the user chooses "reply all". Even a 'normal' reply to a distribution address should trigger a warning. Implementation detail/suggestion: Before sending, KMail or Akonadi counts the number of mail addresses (To, CC, BBC). Every mail address which is in the list of known distribution addresses counts 1000 (or any sufficiently large number). The threshold for a warning is 10. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmymoney] [Bug 483652] vcpkg build fails unless plugins are built statically
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483652 Thomas Baumgart changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|NEEDSINFO Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO --- Comment #1 from Thomas Baumgart --- I have no idea, why you experience this crash. Also not sure, if static linking is the way to go on MacOS. This seems to cause a lot of problems like objc[30931]: Class KeyValueObserver is implemented in both /Users/jonathan/kmymoney/build.old/lib/libkmm_keychain.5.1.80.dylib (0x111738700) and /Users/jonathan/kmymoney/build.old/lib/libkmm_payeeidentifier.5.1.80.dylib (0x102f2c578). One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined. The crash actually occurs when creating the first QWidget inside the Qt code. That is very strange and could be related to the way you build. Also, I wonder why you need to comment out the inclusion of kgpgfile.h in case ENABLE_GPG is not defined. Can you explain that problem? setUseSingleQuoteSignal() is a pretty new function. You may want to build alkimia also from the master source. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

However, this does not work when the names start with a special character, for example the German "Umlaut". It would be nice if characters with modifiers would be treated the same as others. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder containing subfolders or files, for the purposes of this example: `mkdir AB AC AÜ August Oa ÖV Ovation Over` 2. Sort view alphabetically 3. Try selecting the different folders using the keyboard letters. For example, 'AA' will select folder "AC", 'OVE' will select folder "Over". OBSERVED RESULT It is not possible to select folders with special characters. Typing 'AU' will select "August". Typing either 'OV' or 'OO' will select "Ovation", jumping over "ÖV" EXPECTED RESULT Characters with modifiers should be treated the same as without for this purpose. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482030 Bug ID: 482030 Summary: [6.0]missing touchpad gesture settings Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_touchpad Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: thomaslukeduf...@hotmail.co.uk CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open system settings 2. Search "gestures" 3. Check results OBSERVED RESULT Nothing for touchpad gestures can be found EXPECTED RESULT Gestures section under mouse/touchpad or within touchpad settings page I'd love for Gestures to be available within a single page with options for three and 4 finger swipes in each direction. In particular, I was hoping to change the Overview gesture from 4 fingers to 3, just because right now up/down three finger gestures aren't utilized by my system atm. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux Kernel: 6.5.0-18-generic (64-bit) KDE Neon: 6.0 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I'm using Wayland exclusively and gestures *do* work, just that there's no way to configure them at all :( PS: Happy 6.0 launch! It looks *beautiful* and honestly I've not had any major breaking issues which is a testament to your testing and bug-hunting <3 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
