Bug ID: 426045
Summary: global scaling or dual-head display causes paint
problems
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: dualhead
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org

virtual box display problem

SUMMARY

I have a dual display setup with monitors of different resolution.
I have global scaling enabled and set to 175 %

when I start some applications like vlc, virtualbox, dragonplayer, kate the
content of the application is not drawn properly and the content of the window
(menus button etc) is unusable/unreactive. Resizing the window does not
refresh the window (see ttached screenshot of virtualbox

now when I disable one screen OR set the global scaling to 100 % the paint
problems go away.

when I mess with the backend renderer the problem does not go away.

setting the scaling to 100% and using the fonts to scale is a workaround but it
does not increase the size of visual elements like scrollbars which remain
rather small.

Yes it happens during pressing RIGHT key on non DVD movies

Must say that it seems to occur less frequently with the new version but
still it occurs

In my system settings -> multimedia I get an error that there is no module
multimedia (running kubuntu 1810)

Leaving pressed seems not to cause issues. pressing next afterwards
repeatedly also seems to work then.

Summary: when starting a task on a file item I cannot click

OS: Linux

when I open dolphin all is fine,
when I left click on a file item to run the corresponding action (e.g. open a
video file using VLC), the program starts.

When I close VLC, dolphin no longer accepts clicks anymore.

Keyboard works fine but mouse button do not work anymore.

I noticed that this does not happen with all programs (just with most). E.g.
viewing with dragon player does not seem to 'kill' the mouse buttons.

However starting a konsole (e.g when you click on a bash script) does kill the
mouse buttons.

This is VERY annoying

Got around to test with clean new user.

there it seems to be working as far as I can tell.

I noticed that kicker was using a different appearance (the one with the icons
on the bottom) whereas my own session uses the one with cascading menus.

However switching did not change anything ... sadly :(

I have an NVIDIA card with NVIDIA drivers if that helps.

Can I perhaps download a 'debug' version of kicker which I could run ?

[plasmashell] [Bug 374443] Kicker popup menu does not popup when windows are open

2017-01-02 Thread Wim Delvaux
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374443

yes I can ... here :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-e5DvtVoYgZQnl2YzlyLXpRcDg/view?usp=sharing

Let my try to reiterate.

Normally when click left click on the 'K' (kicker) Icon on the panel generally
on the bottom of the screen a popup pops up that shows the list if installed
applications, and other things. That popup allows you to start applications.

Since KDE5 that popup does not always popup. I.e. the menu does not appear and
hence you cannot start applications.

Until recently i persisted clicking, click a right, click on the panel, ... all
to try to make that popup appear.

Recently I noticed that when you iconize all application visible on the
desktop, that popup does show even if moments ago, when the iconized
application were still visible, it did not even after multiple clicks.

Oddly the right click which allows you to configure the kicker does not have
this problem

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Since quite some time (IIRC since KDE5 came around) I have been having problems
with the kicker pop-up not appearing when left clicked on.

I notice that when I iconize all my windows (so the desktop is empty but the
applications are still running) then the popup does show up.

Also sometimes when I persist on clicking left the popup does appear but there
is no rule to it when the popup appears
