Additional info:
today - even if i open kdenlive by clicking a project file in the system file
browser, the open and save dialogs dont work at all.

I will get the kde version tonight. And check the kde file dialog behavior from
kwrite.
This started, after I added ppa repo and installed from there. When I saw the
issue, I uninstalled (purge), removed the repo
