The bugs as I observed them on Plasma 5.9.3/KDE FWs 5.31.0/Qt 5.7.1:

Steps to reproduce:

1. prepare a laptop, an external monitor and an HDMI cable
2. start up some apps, so that there are some icons on the taskbar
3. connect the external monitor via HDMI
4. close the lid of your laptop
5. observe that the taskbar has now moved from the laptop screen to the
external monitor and is lacking app icons
6. open the lid of your laptop
7. observe that the taskbar is back on the laptop screen, but is still lacking
the app icons and that the external monitor screen lost its wallpaper and is
completely black
9. disconnect the external monitor
10. observe that the taskbar is still missing the app icons

In order to regain the taskbar app icons, one has to either reconnect the
external monitor and move the taskbar to the external monitor screen and back,
or proceed with the steps described here -

[plasmashell] [Bug 376199] New: task manager and digital clock plasmoids do not work with Qt5.6 because of missing QtQuick2.7 dependency

2017-02-08 Thread rindeal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376199

Bug ID: 376199
Summary: task manager and digital clock plasmoids do not work
with Qt5.6 because of missing QtQuick2.7 dependency
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.9.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: dev.rindeal+bugs.kde@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

After I upgraded KDE Plasma from 5.8.x to 5.9.0, I quickly noticed that the
digital clock and taskbar plasmoids stopped working. Hovering over them told me
that QtQuick 2.7 is missing. So I grepped over all plasmoids and it revealed
that these files:

/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.digitalclock/contents/ui/DigitalClock.qml

/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/ToolTipInstance.qml

/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/ToolTipDelegate.qml

contain line:

import QtQuick 2.7

So I used in-place sed to change it to:

import QtQuick 2.6

and it started working again.

Commits that introduced QtQuick 2.7:

for digital clock:
https://github.com/KDE/plasma-workspace/commit/1d362c4ae2e264a80c002ab6718c1b1d9437c20c

for task manager:
https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/commit/4f9198fc5f21334b989575c3d9891254d0b1e185

Btw is the minimal Qt version still 5.5 as noted here -

[Spectacle] [Bug 371843] New: selection rectangle can be too tiny which causes it to become buggy

2016-10-29 Thread rindeal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371843

Bug ID: 371843
Summary: selection rectangle can be too tiny which causes it to
become buggy
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: m...@baloneygeek.com
  Reporter: dev.rindeal+bugs.kde@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Steps to reproduce:

1. select "Rectangular Region" area
2. click "Take a New Screenshot"
3. click somewhere and slightly drag the cursor to create a tiny rectangle

Actual results:

A special rectangle is now created. Features of this rectangle:

 - it cannot be resized vertically
 - resizing handles are not displayed (those blue semicircles)

Expected results:

It shouldn't be possible to create a rectangle smaller than some sane
predefined size.

[Breeze] [Bug 347524] Qt Creator Options crashed in Breeze theme

--- Comment #36 from Jan Chren (rindeal) <dev.rindeal+bugs.kde@gmail.com>
---
Some more info on this bug:
- does occur only when QtCreator theme is set to default and KDE theme is set
to Breeze
   - this means that one possible workaround is to set QtCreator theme to
"dark"
- does occur only after "Environment" tab in "Options" menu was visited at
least once, some settings were changed and "Apply" button was clicked (doesn't
occur after hitting "Ok")

lost.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) run `kcmshell5 kwindecoration`
2) click on the menu icon of "org.kde.breeze" theme

7) repeat steps 2) and 3)

Actual Results:
No overrides exist anymore

Expected Results:
You should see your saved overrides
