[krita] [Bug 493144] Gradient preset in XYZ space converted to sRGB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493144 --- Comment #2 from Robert Moerland --- Thank you for the extra info. I did see a comment about that behavior in the merge request (https://invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/merge_requests/675). I also think that's a fair design decision. The only thing that bothers me a little bit then is that the conversion is done silently, i.e., there might be a loss of color accuracy but it's not explicitly mentioned. Perhaps this report could be converted into a wishbug/usability improvement, where I could see as a solution for example (thinking out loud): 1. Explicitly warn the user in the UI that XYZ colors are converted to sRGB in the gradient editor, or 2. Perhaps store colors picked from an XYZA document in RGB with the ACES2065-1 color profile? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[digikam] [Bug 493151] New: IP address setting for PTP/IP camera is mishandled
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493151 Bug ID: 493151 Summary: IP address setting for PTP/IP camera is mishandled Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.4.0 Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Setup-Cameras Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: grzy...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Thank you for creating and maintaning digiKam! I had troubles configuring PTP/IP camera in digiKam. I was able to make it work when the camera was joined to my home Wi-Fi (192.168.1.241) but if I tethered the same camera directly to my laptop (10.42.0.212) it won't work. While investigating I have realised that digiKam is attempting to connect to a wrong IP address (8.34.0.212). It would appear that digiKam saves the content of GUI controls for the IP address verbatim (including leading zeros). When the resulting _string_ ("010.042.000.212") is then passed to the gphoto2 library (which is written in C) any individual octet starting with zero will be (as expected) treated as on octal number - not a decimal. I was able to workaround this issue by removing the leading zeros from the file `~/.local/share/digikam/cameras.xml`. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add and configure PTP/IP camera, enter an IP address where one or more octets are in the range 8 to 99 decimal. 2. Attempt to connect to the camera (Camera->Import->TCP/IP Camera) while using the underlying OS to observe an actual address begin connected to (for example using `ss` utility) OBSERVED RESULT The (innocent) gphoto2 library attempts to connect to wrong IP address (where each octet of the configured IP address which was greater than 7 or less than 100 is not the same as what was entered on the configuration screen. For example configuring an IP address 10.42.0.212 results in an attempt to connect to incorrect host at 8.34.0.212 EXPECTED RESULT digiKam should attempt to connect to the PTP/IP camera at the IP address configured (specified) by the user. The attched example file also still shows the buggy behavior in this version. To emphasize, the step of adding the filter layer to the group seems to be essential for reproduction. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434618 Robert Moerland changed: What|Removed |Added Version|4.4.3-beta2 |nightly build (please ||specify the git hash!) --- Comment #5 from Robert Moerland --- I think I can reproduce the behavior, but I'm not a 100% sure given that "jpg file from the web" allows for some freedom. I'm testing with Krita 5.3.0-prealpha-703c3eae on Windows 10 and a Dell U2713H (wide gamut) monitor. Steps that *did not* reproduce the issue: - Import / drag and drop tagged sRGB image into Krita. Colors are the same as (color managed) photo viewer and PS CS 6 - Import / drag and drop tagged AdobeRGB image into Krita. Colors are the same as (color managed) photo viewer and PS CS 6 - Import / drag and drop untagged sRGB image into Krita. Colors are the same as (color managed) photo viewer and PS CS 6 Step that *did* (?) reproduce the issue: - Import / drag and drop untagged AdobeRGB image into Krita. Colors are duller than the properly-tagged version. Rendering in other software depends on implementation (assume sRGB profile or assume monitor profile). My hesitation to fully confirm that I reproduced the bug stems from the fact that the proposed workaround ("save the resulting image without incorporating the icc") seems to actually trigger this behavior, if I understand the workaround well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 487780] Fullscreen game stutter when Plasma receives notifications.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487780 Robert changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Resolution|FIXED |--- --- Comment #11 from Robert --- I believe that all the code paths that block direct scanout are not solved for this use case. After further evaluation, your patch does improve things as the stutter only happens once now and it's not caused by the notification pop up. I believe that when the new notifications icon appears within the system tray on the panel, this also blocks direct scanout once and this is probably the stutter I observe now. I'm going to re-open the bug, it's not a huge issue, however, if you have some time, you might want to look into this, thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 487075] Total Panel Freeze Takes Down KDE
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487075 --- Comment #7 from Robert Svensson --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #6) > Are you able to confirm that way of reproducing the issue, > bugreport...@mailna.me? I can't. Not the one you asked but I also can't reproduce it with those steps. I do still however have it happen quite quickly by just playing around with the icons in the system tray. Especially if I hover the cursor above the icons long enough to produce a tooltip popup to display, then moving the cursor between icons and randomly clicking some of them etc. It's likely that there are multiple issues producing the same result of a frozen panel here that people are experiencing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 487780] Fullscreen game stutter when Plasma receives notifications.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487780 --- Comment #10 from Robert --- I'm just following up on this bug and have noticed that despite having 6.1.3 and the latest updates, there is still a pronounced stutter that occurs consistently when notifications are received. I'm not sure if this is now direct scanout being interrupted or another problem with the code. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 490986] New: Plasma falls back to "Zink Vulkan 1.3" as graphics processor when using latest NVIDIA Beta driver 560.28.03
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490986 Bug ID: 490986 Summary: Plasma falls back to "Zink Vulkan 1.3" as graphics processor when using latest NVIDIA Beta driver 560.28.03 Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.1.3 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: robert.f...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY This is regarding my laptop, a 2022 Asus ROG Strix G733CX Optimus graphics laptop running in discreet GPU Mode on Arch linux running kernel 6.10.2-273-tkg-eevdf (64-bit) Plasma falls back to "Zink Vulkan 1.3" as graphics processor when using latest NVIDIA Beta driver 560.28.03 suggesting that it is failing to access the native NVIDIA OpenGL Renderer. The current "New Feature" branch driver 555.58.02 reports "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU/PCIe/SSE2" which is what I would expect. I know it's a beta driver it could be an NVIDIA bug, but I'm reporting it here since it could be a change in NVIDIA driver stack that Plasma might need to react to. Occasionally on the beta driver the Plasma desktop will become non responsive, usually shortly after log in when it does happen. It is not a kernel panic as I'm able to get to a virtual terminal and reboot the system. I'm not experienced in how to give you an appropriate log to diagnose the issue, but will with guidance. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install nvidia-beta-dkms (or nvidia-open-beta-dkms), nvidia-utils-beta. lib32-nvidia-utils-beta, nvidia-settings-beta opencl-nvidia-beta and lib32-opencl-nvidia-beta from the AUR on Arch Linux 2. But that would of course only work on devices that actually have > an ambient light sensor. So maybe adding a "Manual mode" makes sense anyway. I have a similar use case like Sin Jeong-hun and a manual mode is definitely needed to make the feature more useful and flexible, it would make the feature behave similarly to Windows 11 and Android which is probably what most users expect as there is a lot more criteria that determines the use of the blue light filter than simply scheduling. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341941 Robert Riemann changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rob...@riemann.cc --- Comment #1 from Robert Riemann --- I think we should distinguish between two slightly different situations: 2) few non-changing recipients (cake of the bug reporter) Create separate identities for each email address and configure the appropriate SMTP sender. Kmail switch to the respective identity when replying to mails. Furthermore, the identity chooser can also be enabled in the composer view, so that users get an easy drop-down selection field to overwrite the identity on a case-by-case (here email) basis. 2) many non-stable recipients due to the use of sub addressing, e.g. myname+onlinesh...@host.com or mycompany+clie...@host.com Here, it is likely not feasible to setup identities for each sub address. Note that there is no common standard for sub addresses. Sometimes it is "+", sometimes it is "-". Hence, detection is non-trivial. As (1) solves the issue of the bug reporter and (2) is somewhat different, I suggest to either close this bug report as solved or change the title to be explicit that this bug report covers now rather (2). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 487780] New: Fullscreen game stutter when Plasma receives notifications.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487780 Bug ID: 487780 Summary: Fullscreen game stutter when Plasma receives notifications. Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.5 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: performance Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: robert.biel...@outlook.com Target Milestone: --- *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY When playing fullscreen games, in particular games using Steam Proton and DXVK (most likely all fullscreen games), there is a momentary drop in frame rate as the desktop notification is received and again as it disappears. It is important to clarify that nothing actually renders over the game, only the momentary stutter that corresponds with the time the notification would appear on the desktop had the game not been running fullscreen. This should not be happening since nothing is actually rendered over the game and nothing should be disturbing the rendering process with direct scanout working consistently. This happens with all notifications and is most noticeable for me with KDE Connect messages from my phone. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Make sure "Screen Tearing: Allow in fullscreen windows" is enabled in Plasma display configuration. 2. Launch a Vulkan game in fullscreen mode. 3. Set VSync in the game or a constant frame rate so that the game is perfectly smooth (Preferably use a Vulkan hood such as DXVK_HUD with frametimes graph overlay). 4. Trigger a desktop notification such as a text message with KDE Connect via Android. 5. Observe a sudden momentary stutter and corresponding spike in the frametime graph when a notification comes in to the desktop such as KDE Connect and once again when it disappears. OBSERVED RESULT A momentary stutter and spike in frametime is observed when Plasma gets a notification in an otherwise perfectly smooth VSync'd game experience. EXPECTED RESULT The frame rate should remain perfectly smooth with no stutter during background notification reception and frametimes should be consistent all the time. Committed on 02/06/2021 at 21:01. Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master' https://tubidy.diy/. Make results delegate list items a bit taller with bigger icons We generally use the smallMedium (22px) icon size for small-ish-but-not-too-small icons as they have a better visual balance with adjacent text, compared to the small (16px) icon size. 22px icons also generally look better than 16px icons. Moving the results list items to use smallMedium icons offers a better visual balance, and adding a tiny of vertical padding balances out everything a bit more to provide more "breathing room" between the rows https://y2mate.diy/. As a consequence, the maximum number of results visible at once has to decrease a bit, but this is generally not a major problem as the user can simply keep typing to refine their search to find what it is they're looking for https://emp3juice.blog/. [korganizer] [Bug 486836] New: more privacy for event invitees when sending out calendar invitees or share ICS files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486836 Bug ID: 486836 Summary: more privacy for event invitees when sending out calendar invitees or share ICS files Classification: Applications Product: korganizer Version: 6.0.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: invitations Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: rob...@riemann.cc Target Milestone: --- I tagged this as a feature request. However, in some regions with strict privacy laws demanding "data minimisation" and privacy by default, this could be interpreted as a legal obligation that would merit a classification as bug. SUMMARY KOrganizer allows to share event details with invitees using two ways: 1. add people as participants 2. right click on event and click on "send as iCalendar..." In both cases, the names and mail addresses of invitees are revealed to other invitees, thus impacting their privacy. Note that in all cases, the actual contact data sharing is not made transparent to the event organiser. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. create a new event 2. add two people as invitees 3. see that each invitee can see in the email all other invitees 4. go back to Korganiser and click right on an event in the month view, choose in the context menu "send as iCalendar" and add two mail addresses 5. find in the sent mail folder that both mail addresses are in the "to" instead of "bcc" OBSERVED RESULT Invitees see mail addresses and names of other invitees. EXPECTED RESULT Invitees can only see mail addresses and names of other invitees if the event organiser has made an explicit choice to share this data. Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.0 I am using Kontact flatpak 6.0.2 from the fedora repository. According to some Matrix channel, the fedora flatpak is built the same way like the KDE kontact flatpak on flathub.
