Hello Gilles,

I found some time to port my fix to new dk version 5. The attached code depends
on tag v5.2.0.

It depends on the initial patch from Amilcar Lucas to ignore all @eaDir
directories (hard-coded in class collectionscanner.cpp). My part was to
configure what directories should be ignored. Therefore I added a text field to
the database settings menu. The entries a user make there will be stored in
digikamrc.

The last part to complete the task is to replace the hard-coded ignoration of
@eaDir by the entries made by users. Therefore, I need access to the database
parameters in collectionscanner class:

Unfortunately, I get the same error as in dk 4 version:

dolphin (15.12.3) using Qt 5.5.1

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
copying a file from mtp to local storage 

I think the crash happened when the usb connection got physically disconnected
while moving the file. I understand that this would cause the transfer to fail
but it shouldn't crash dolphin I think. 

I am trying it again now and it hasn't crashed so far. I might not be able to
reproduce this.

In the attached file there is a screenshot of the desktop with three different
instances of chromium called by the 3rd, 4th and 5th button (respectively) on

Hi,
I've created different menu entries to open an application with different
settings.
For each entry I've changed the default app icon with a different one so that
to recognize which icon to press when I add all of these launcher to my panel
(which represents them each with its specified icon so the panel is OK).
The (visual) problem is that if I open the application it uses always the
default icon in the left upper corner of the decoration window regardless to
what launcher I've used to open.
Is it possible to  have the same icon of the launcher which has been used to
open the app?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a new launcher for an app with a customized icon
2.Launch the application
3.Look at the icon at the left upper corner which is different from the one in
the launcher

I have a similar issue. Since the last update I cannot unlock my session
anymore (on the desktop). I try four times and then the lock screen tells me
that I have to use loginctl unlock-sessions.

When I run kscreenlocker_greet manually, I unfortuantely only get a very
useless stack trace and since I'm on arch, it's not that easy to install debug
symbols, especially, when I don't really know for what package.

environment started to behave badly, so I had to downgrade the libs back. I
also downgraded krusader to 2.4.0. Now archives browsing work just fine. Seams
that my environment is not ready for the new krusader version yet. Thanks guys

When trying to import a new xml file (or as .kateklcolor) into Kate, the
program just throws up a "File is not a single highlighting color file"
message.

I have validated the file I'm trying to upload, and it seems to be correct. I
have also tried just using an xml from ~/.local/share/katepart5/syntax/ and
both incremented the version number of changing the "name" attribute, but the
same error is thrown in all cases.

The url is to a post in the KDE forums where I asked for help and showed the
files I was trying to import.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Kate and go to Settings -> Configure Kate... -> Fonts & Colors ->
Highlighting Text Styles.
2. Click 'Import...' and select a valid xml or katehlcolor file.

Actual Results:  
A message box appears stating "File is not a single highlighting color file".

Expected Results:  
A new or updated version of a highlighting style should become available in
Kate.

I am running i3 mainly, and was previously using "kicker" from KDE Plasma to
list applications installed for convenience. After a recent upgrade (around
2016/10/20), the "plasmawindowed" command in Debian does no longer work; it
opens an KDE applet but clicking it does nothing. Right clicking shows options
"Forget recent" etc. Sometimes, nothing shows up with an error about "dbus".

I've noticed that the two problematic monitors have the same identifiers also
in .config/monitors.xml. So this bug seems generated by X bad naming. Also it

I am sorry if this bug is in "fixed"  but I am using openSUSE 13.2, KDE 4.14.9
and I have the same issue: Print key assigned to kshorcuts, recognized key but
doesn't launch Ksnapshot. If I assign for instance Meta+P ksnapshot is
launched.

Print Screen was working until around 1 year but now is not working. If I
launch Yast (I guess is Qt) the print key works (doesn't launch ksnapshot, but
else shows save dialog).

after enabling/disabling compositing with kwin panels that are set to auto-hide
will remain visible instead of auto-hiding.

1. start a plasma 5 session
2. set a panel to auto-hide
3. enable/disable compositing

Actual Results:  
panel remain visible and won't auto-hide again until passing the mouse on it

Expected Results:  
panel should reshow itself for a sec after enabling/disabling compositing and

Just a small update:

Looks like partitionmanager packaging repository disappeared, that's there were
no newer snapshots of partitionmanager for a month...

The reason for disappearance seems to be that debian removed their
partitionmanager repo.

You can see in https://packages.qa.debian.org/p/partitionmanager.html that
partitionmanager was removed from testing...

Good news. We had uninitialized variable just for the PostgreSQL driver. Will

Manually delete PowerDevil Core on teardown

The QObject children cleanup routine is run after QGuiApplication's destructor
after which
the X connection has already been cleaned up. By manually deleting in
PowerDevilApp's
destructor, we delete Core first before any Qt cleanup happens.

The problem is actually everywhere. If the initial ftp connection is made by
writing the password in plain text into the navigation bar
("ftp://user:passw...@server.com;) the password is never removed. 
* VFS uses the URL with the password while navigating  on the ftp server
* all file URLs contain the password, it is not removed when opening files or
copying them to clipboard
* sometimes debug output with the URL and password is printed

Dolphin has exactly the same problems.

Removing the password from all URLs is not that simple cause the password is
never saved and browsing wont work after the first directory listing without
entering the password again.

The best solution would be if the KIO listing job saves the password internally
and it can be removed after the first connection. This is currently done anyway
if no password is provided and the authentication dialog appears.

kdebugdialog5 I have installed. Afterwards as user started and the indicated
packages "plasma" and "libplasma" activated by checkbox.

I have pulled the ActivityPager on the bar, nothing has happened. No black
screen,

to 3.)
You mean probably start the plasma shell from a terminal. I did that (before a
kill on the plasmashell process) and the screen was briefly black. Then again
in the terminal the Plasmashell started, it was everything as before. The
ActivityPager was still in the bar and all activities were accessible by mouse.

I now have the original error probably no more. It could be the Debian
Unstable, however, newer plasma packages have fixed the error.

I managed to reproduce the bug on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with:

ok. Not sure what to do about it then ... at least report the bug upstream (Qt)
something like: "setting SH_Widget_Animate to false makes Sidepanel moving
impossible". Will you do that ? Here at the breeze/oxygen level, the only thing
I can do is apply the patch (and force animation of sidepanels all the time
disregarding the actual option), but that would be a regression (triggered by
upstream ...)

Thanks for testing. So it is an upstream bug indeed (the only thing the patch
does is change the value of a flag which is used internally by Qt and by Qt
only.

Confirming that the text tool is still glitching. Both Artistic and Multi-line.

You have to delete at least ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
(perhaps also ~/.config/plasmashellrc and ~/.local/share/kscreen/).

[Because of another bug I deleted all ~/.cache ~/.config and ~/.local]

Then you have to reconfigure the appearance of plasma.

Then you will see the bug has improved: The taskbar and the wallpaper stays
when plugging in the hdmi cable.

Alas, unified output is bugged. When clicking on unified output+apply, the
output is not unified (I understand unify as "mirror output"). Only the
resolution is set to equal. There are now 2 independent screens side-by-side
(as before the unification), but the image in Settings->Display is now unified
to one screen (before there were two screens shown). So, either this image is
wrong or unified output is bugged.
One can unify (i.e. mirror) the output e.g. by enabling 2 virtual workspaces,
then unify output, then reduce to 1 virtual workspace. Then it is really
unified (mirrored), although Settings->Display says that it is NOT unified (it
offers the option to unify and not to break the outputs).

Another error (but I have to check on another screen, because this seems odd):
On each edge are missing approx. 50 pixels.

Another error: When you unplug the hdmi cable it shows the old unified
resolution, although it has (thankfully) switched to the default resolution [no
big deal, you have to reload the settings, then it shows the right resolution]

Hi,
Thanks for reporting. However I cannot reproduce 
I suspect a bug in Qt, in fact. (which I do not have in my version).
The only thing disabling animations does to panels in breeze and oxygen is
change the returned value of "SH_Widget_Animate"

if you have access to breeze sources, can you apply the following patch and see
if code still crashes ?

I am hijacking nothing!.  I am reporting the same issue and experiencing and
confirming the same behavior that Alex has reported.  What I am adding to the
discusson is that the bug only occurs when using the proprietary Nvidia driver
and does not occur when using the open source Nouveau driver.

Disabling the animations for the Breeze Widget style in systemsettings makes
moving panels in dolphin, marble impossible. 
Kdenlive even crashes when moving panels. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Disable animation for breeze widget in systemsettings
2. Open Dolphin and unlock sidepanels if locked
3. Try to move the panels

Actual Results:  
Panels snap back to their initial position

Expected Results:  
Panels should snap to new position

Tested on Maui and Netrunner Core aswell as KDE Neon 5.8.2

Sometimes I work in Krita about 8-12 houres in a day and sometimes I am forced
to change the tools like Brush, Transform and Eraser every 3-4 second. I prefer
charge my memory with another things, it is not to remember every my action
with the pen.

It would be correct to have this option switchable and turned off by default.

Plasma crashes irreversibly when 

-enabling Holidays: Goto Digital Clock Settings->Calendar->check
Holidays->Apply ->crash (see Video 2)
-scroling in Holidays' list: Goto Digital Clock Settings->Holidays and scroll
in the Holidays' list ->crash (see Video 1)

Crash means: Taskbar and widgets and wallpaper and so on vanish.
Irreversible means: Even after rebooting and entering my password on welcome
screen, I will get a very long Splash Screen, which eventually turns into a
black screen without taskbar/widgets/wallpapers. Nothing. 

How to restore a working system: 
rm ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc or following line in this
file:
enabledCalendarPlugins=/usr/lib/qt/plugins/plasmacalendarplugins/holidaysevents.so

I don't know if it is a KHolidays Bug or Plasma Bug or both. First of all, I
will post it here (KHolidays), if there will be no feedback, I will post it
also in Plasma.

Reproducible: Always



Expected Results:  
Enable Holidays and scroll in the list without permanent crash.

Clarification of paragraph 1:

When I say the bug is reproducible, what I mean is:

1. Use proprietary Nvidia drive.
2 Boot machine into plasma desktop, with plasma/kwin version 5.8.2.
3. If backend of compositor is set to opengl, desktop effects do not work.
4. If change backend to XRender, desktop effects do  work.
5.  If change backend  back to open gl, effects stop working.

This behavior does not occur when using the open source Nouveau driver.   
Behavior did not occur with 5.8.1 when using the proprietary Nvidia driver.
Switching back to an earlier proprietary driver which did work with 5.8.1  does
not fix the problem when using 5.8.2.

Damn, it still does not write anything useful - I have a few more steps for you
:)

1. can you install plasma and plasma-related packages with debugging symbols,
and start kdebugdialog5 and check every box that mentions plasma (there is a
search bar on top)?

2. What happens if you put the activity pager on the panel and restart plasma?

3. When you start plasma (from terminal) in an activity that is not blank, and
then press enter a few times in the terminal, just to move the cursor, what is
written out when you try to switch to a 'blank' activity?

p.s. Backup your plasma settings before doing this - ~/.config/plasma* :)

Please read the post (comment 4) again carefully.  The second paragraph in the
post is probably irrelevant to the issue.  The popups are probably due to 
current incompatibility of the  370xx and 304xx drivers with the specific card.

(See first paragraph.) Different 340xx drivers (which is the version
recommended by Nvidia as compatible with the card) were tried including one
that has worked fine in the past with 5.8.1.   I suppose I could rewind to
version 5.8.1 and use the current 340.98 driver to definitively confirm that
the problem is in the transition from 5.8.1 go 5.8.2, but this is a huge amount
of work and time.too many packages. 

Please try to boot 5.8.2 with an appropriate proprietary nvidia driver on a
machine with nvidia graphics and see what happens when you set the back end to
opengl.

I'm referring to the saving of the avatar as .face and .face icon (link to the
former file) for displaying the avatar on the SDDM login screen (which also
doesn't work but I guess this is another issue).

So one can change the avatar of any user as many times as one would like,
however the .face & link file is only created once and never recreated/updated
afterwards.

(The avatar displayed in the user manager is apparently saved somewhere else.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set avatar for new user
2. Notice how .face is created accordingly.
3. Change avatar (or delete .face in home of new user)

Actual Results:  
No new .face and .face.icon is created

Expected Results:  
New .face and .face.icon is created upon change of avatar.

The bug is still active in Kubuntu 16.04.1 (KOrganizer Version 5.1.3)

Today, I noticed that KMail/KAddressbook display a similar syntax error:

If I send an e-mail with the following address:
John Example 

And do a right click on the address in KMail and click on "Add to address book"
(German version: "Zum Adressbuch hinzufügen"), the confirmation window that
confirms that the address has been added to the address book displays the
following wrong syntax for the (perfectly correct) address:

<"John Example" > 

So I assume the superfluous angle brackets are quite deeply embedded in
KOrganzier.

The end result in KAddressbook is perfectly correct, though.

I can't reproduce the bug. Even with a font size of 20 the delete button
remains the same size.

Would you please give me some more info or a hint that helps me reproduce it?

Does that happen in a dev environment or in production?
What distro is it? What version?
