((:-)) In the Renaming section of the import tool you will see a link stating whether metadata is being used. The link takes you to the digiKam camera settings under Behavior there is the option. I tagged a few photos without running the Image Editor and could not reproduce. Then I ran the Editor on the attached file, performed a local contrast and color auto correction (both with default settings), saved, and exited the Editor. After I tagged the boy in the water I could not find his associated face rectangle. When I tagged the other boy, all was fine. But I can't reproduce it. Are they RAW files? The original size of the image may not be correctly determined from the metadata data. Otherwise, upload an example image that shows the problem.
