I am on a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
My software center Découvrir (Discover) is empty.
I read all the thread, and tested what it is proposed but no result.
Waiting for a solution in the stable repository ; meanwhile, I load my new
software in a terminal with apt

Hi,

I have been digging a bit into this, this is what I found so far:

- xenial provides discover 5.6.4, I built 5.6.5 in a PPA for xenial, that
doesn't fix the issue

- if I'm not mistaken, this is not the packagekit issue pointed out by Matthias
(thanks for the info) because the packagekit issue doesn't affect the version
in xenial; it was affecting zesty but it was already fixed

- from a clean installation from the kubuntu iso 16.04.2 I can reproduce the
bug *without* updating the system

- from a clean installation from the kubuntu iso 16.04.1 (without updates) you
won't see the bug, however, as soon as you type "appstreamcli refresh" you will
get discover listing of installed packages broken

So I presume this is a "clockwork bomb" bug either in the old discover (or
appstream) versions provided by the Kubuntu LTS. I doubt very much this is a
packaging issue.

Software centre is still empty.
plasma-discover shows "0 installierte Elemente" means "0 installed apps".
The Slide-Show shows VLC, krita KDE-Marble, ... and I a click on that shows the
overview and installation page of the program. Semms to be normal functional.
I can see some plasma-widgets, and some fonts, all other categories are empty.
I can search for updates, but no Application is found by the search-function.
installing muon have no effect.
appstreamcli refresh-index --force have no effect.
there is no ~/.local/share/gnome-software on this system.

Kubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
KDE Framework 5.18-0
Qt 5.5.1
xcb windowsystem

Any suggestions?

as I understand it "Contact your distro"  means to ask kubuntu ( askubuntu.com)
community for help. My experience with "Software centre - Discover" ubuntu gui
utility is quite negative, it seems to me it is alpha version with many, many
bugs. So as workaround it is better to use commandline apt-get , or Synaptic
Package Manager for now. so 
"~/.local/share/gnome-software" file is in standard ubuntu , so no use to
search it in kubuntu.

-first I installed kubuntu 16.04.1 with software centre empty unfuctional  
-so I tried install ubuntu 16.04.1 - same problem  with software centre empty
unfuctional
-I discovered on askubuntu.com that the problem is with GUI software centre
  so I remove ~/.local/share/gnome-software  and restart , and this solved it
  commands:
 $ killall gnome-software
 $ rm -r ~/.local/share/gnome-software
-then I installed secondary Desktop Enviroment KDE Plasma 
  and after login to KDE Plasma desktop  , the Software centre worked OK :-)

That does not solve it for me (I do not have a ~/.local/share/gnome-software ).

after   removing  ~/.local/share/gnome-software  and restart problem solved
