[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 424955] Idea: Add a (temporary) warning regarding the abuse of KDE Bugzilla instance

We've received a response from them now, and they hit the same issue we did
with regards to identifying the course in question.

I've now sent them the information we do have (including the full addresses of
those that used their @myseneca.ca addresses) including links to examples here
on Bugzilla.

It's quite fortunate that one of the students decided to use that course code
in their dummy GMail addresses as that is likely to help quite a bit.

Are there any updates to this matter (especially response from Seneca College)?

The students studying the PMC240 course [1] did the same thing today (Bug
425019, Bug 425021, Bug 425022, Bug 425042).

While i've not been able to find details on how to contact their Academic
Conduct Committee, I have found details for their Student Conduct Committee and
have reached out to them now.

I looked up their IP addresses in server logs, but they are very different,
they're probably accessing from home. If it wasn't for the pandemic we could
just ban the campus...

The students ignored our reminders and warnings, and keep posting invalid bugs,
such as Bug 424969, Bug 424980.

I hope the KDE admins can inform the academic conduct committee as soon as
possible about this matter, and take actions so that KDE developers will not be
spammed by invalid/fake bug reports.

We have had a run in with Seneca University students in the past doing very
similar things.

I had hoped that the message we sent the University student conduct team last
time would have done the trick but apparently not.

I've just sent the students in question a message asking for them to explain
their conduct and to provide the details on the course they are doing so we can
take this matter up with the course lecturers (along with the academic conduct
committee for the lecturers/academics involved)
