As I was saying, I greatly appreciate how quickly this was resolved. Given that
this will happen to everyone who updates from a previous version and did not

As you can see in the bugreport, it's definitively fixed in 7.0.0 which will be
officially published in few weeks.

I'm using digikam under manjaro kde 20.+ kernel 5.6.16-1, & it works fun so far

I understand this is resolved, but it may be worth notifying the broader

If you have actually entered your user directory and not into a digikam
subfolder, this behavior can be explained. I don't know if we could intercept
this path, otherwise it would have to be reported to the installe
