thank you. I think that was the issue. I pointer the root folder to the picture
folder in my Mac which also house the LR catalog and apples photos library.

Oh, over 139,000 albums, then waiting time is normal. This waiting time must
also occur with digiKam-6.4.0. But something doesn't fit together here, only
8000 images and so many albums, that doesn't fit.

It stops at the point where the albums and tags are loaded into the view models
from the database.

here is the terminal debug. follow the instruction as what you provided. it
takes a total of 5 minute for Digikam to start

I have no idea at the moment. DigiKam-7.0.0 should never be slower. I cannot
reproduce it on Linux and Windows. The log from the terminal would be
interesting. It is also described here for MacOS:

I have tried the 7.0.0 rc version dated 16 nay. It’s still the same it pauses
for a very long time when the checking ice repository... is showing. On Windows
this issue is not there. Only on the macos
