You're welcome! It's because a three-finger click on a touchpad emulates a
middle-click on a mouse, so you can use that for all other middle-click
functionality as well, such as opening a link in a new tag in your

It would also be nice if ctrl+click on a bookmark (or something in the panel)
opens it in a new tab too.
