Added example screenshot. In my opinion, the avatar makes it easier to find
mails in the list at first glance.

As an example just have a look on eM Client. There the message list has a
separate column showing the gravatar of the sender.

If I understand this wish correctly, you'd like to see a small avatar in each
message line of the message viewer that is associated with the sender of that
message, and a way to place this avatar in the message list theme editor in
"Settings -> Configure KMail... -> Appearance -> Message list -> Default theme
-> Configure...", right?

In this case: still valid for 5.4.1.
