It could be because Krita uses more texture memory than the other applications,
if your image is very big. But I haven't seen this happen myself, so it's all
guess work, and that's why I want you to disable opengl

I do see how it could be an issue with my GNOME desktop, and the way Krita
interacts. I've only had the issue in Krita; my desktop before did go black for
a period.
