I think crashes happen when trying to write to read-only device. So I'll mark
this as duplicate of another similar bug. If that's not the case please reopen.

Another similar crash (which was trigerred by removing partitions) was just
fixed in kpmcore master branch (commit
83787cbdfcc78cd51c2461084c6e6534f4f77337) but I'm not sure whether it fixes
your crash or not.

Would you be willing to compile KPMcore and KPM master branches to test it?
