Is this still happening for you on Plasma 6.2? If so, please use the Wayland
session and then attach the output of
> kscreen-doctor -o
and
> drm_info
and the contents of ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json, once with the 1080p
monitor and once with the 1440p monitor when the wrong mode gets chosen for it.

It occurred again. It seems that it happens when I connect to a 1080p display
that my laptop has not seen before. But that's just a guess.

Correct, it shouldn't.

When this is happening, can you paste the output of running `kscreen-doctor -o`

I'm using "For any display arrangement" in the settings. But it doesn't sound
like that should make all HDMI display settings the same. Is this intended
behavior?

Are you using the "remember settings per display arrangement" setting on the
Display Configuration page in System Settings?

Can you paste the output of `kscreen-doctor -o` twice: once after you set the
correct resolutions, and again after you reboot and they've gotten scrambled
up?
