Thanks for the quick response. Yea, I was in fact already about to fix the
second problem you now also encountered and wanted to ask before I did this if
there is even another catch I should consider.

But so it seems that both problems are gone now.

This is the expected/intended behaviour in desktops as they don't have internal
touchpad.

I correct myself: this is still reproducible in my desktop machine, but not in
the laptop. The difference is that the desktop machine doesn't have a touchpad,
so the kcm shows a "No touchpad found" message and all controls are disabled.
